  • If it Ain’t Broken, Don’t Fix it

I agree with a prior review. AT was clean and generally simple. The best in my opinion. Not a bunch of hidden menus and options with overly complicate (IT nerdy) ways to use the tool. Competitor tools tend to overwhelm the user and are confusing to navigate. I’d set all of my advanced settings, multiple vehicles at times, and hit search. And, I’d save the search or vehicle(s) and periodically set alerts. If I were to improve anything - realizing AT must satisfy both the retailers/sellers and buyers experience - I’d continue efforts to only show vehicles asked for under set query parameters. Meaning, if I say Toyota Tundra CrewMax, under 75k miles, max $30k, within 25 miles, don’t show me vehicles that don’t match this criteria. It’s annoying and I abandon tools that do this. Asking the user if they’d like to see similar vehicles or those further out or more dollars, etc. would be fine - though essentially running a finite report criteria and getting back incorrect results is a pain. Clean, Simple, Accurate!
  • Very Good App, would like ability to hide results

Overall this app is great, it’s well set up and easy to navigate. We used it to find and purchase our new (to us) vehicle and are now searching for another. The only thing I would like to see would be the ability to hide a listing. My specific reason for this is there isn’t a filter criteria for vehicles that have been reported as being a rental vehicle so if I could just hide them in my results of my saved search, that would suffice. This may also be helpful to other users who would like to “filter” out listings when they don’t specifically fall under an existing category. For example if someone didn't want to see listings from a specific dealership, or didn’t want to buy a car with aftermarket rims, or any other factor they may have that wouldn’t necessarily need a filter category created for, hiding a listing would be helpful. 👍
  • Bugging out

I love this app bc of the wide variety of vehicles I can find. However, there are quite a lot of posts that have no mileage posted whatsoever. That is a major drag due to the fact that you can’t weed out those postings within your searches. Lately, I’ve been searching for vehicles on a day to day basis and saving quite a few that I have my eyes on. I love being able to go back and look at them and see which one would fit my needs best, well all of a sudden the list of saved vehicles has now disappeared, and I can no longer save new vehicles either. An error message appears stating, “oops. We stalled. Please try again”. I have tried restarting my phone, logging out and back in, and even not using the app for a few days. And it still appears. Please fix this. Thank you.
  • Love autotrader

Absolutely love autotrader. Bought a car and found other cars for others. 1 thing missing for me and would love to see included...on the website users can choose to hide or remove certain selections from the search. The user is also able to leave a comment as to why they want the particular selection to not be included in the search. For example...searching for a manual transmission, but the search results include automatic transmissions. The auto transmission cars should be hidden or removed because they were not included in the search criteria and should be flagged
  • Can’t save searches

One glaring glitch makes me not want to use this app any more. After registering, I can’t save searches. I’ve got 2 very specific searches, and it’s PAINFUL to input all the search criteria every time I get on the app, and between multiple cars at that. I’ve tried it multiple times over a few days, and still the same error: “oops, we stalled. Please try again”. Given that saved searches are within the first few sentences of the app description, I’m hoping this is fixed soon. I’ll upgrade my review then, cause the rest of the app functions very well. It’s just this one bug drives me away from using it altogether.
  • Got rid of the "sort by" feature!

I absolutely love Autotrader and use it almost every day. Upon reinstalling it on my iPad, I noticed how the sort by function was broken. In previous versions I could change the sort by from: from near to far, far to near, price height to low, price low to high (my favorite), etc. Now it is stuck on "Distance: near to far." Please fix this as soon as possible. It is crucial to have this feature working in order to search efficiently. Thanks!
  • Lots of vehicles, difficult to filter, saving is broken

Autotrader still has one of the largest selections of used vehicles, but its search functionality is lagging the competition's. It's difficult/impossible to select multiple models, trims, and other filters at once as part of a search. Also the data is highly inaccurate, making it difficult to actually search for vehicle features (cylinder count, heated seats, trailer hitch, etc) The search results are biased, where they show you “premium” vehicles (where the seller paid them more) before other vehicles that are a better fit
  • Decent app, but poorly optimized.

I could spend an entire day on Autotrader, but the app is so poorly optimized that it WILL chew through my battery in an hour or so. Doesn’t matter if I’m on LTE or WIFI. Doesn’t matter if I’m on my iPhone 7, iPad Air, iPhone 5S, etc. My device heats up during use and the battery life is drained at an alarming rate. Needs a paid option as well to get rid of unwanted ads or promoted listings that don’t match my search criteria. If I’m looking for a manual transmission coupe, I don’t need to see six listings for luxury SUVs at the top of every search.
  • Maybe the best for saved searches

I'm not an expert but I've tried many different apps and websites to assist me in searching for a used car. I have a small number of makes and models that I'm interested in, as well as a limit on terms of budget, vehicle mileage, and distance I'm willing to drive to get the car. This app supports all of this and lets me save my search criteria as well as favorite results. Highly recommended!
  • Cookies and now lost data

Seriously, an app for iOS and now CarFax reports require cookies to be enabled? The old version was perfect from the perspective of someone looking for a car; don't know who benefits from this version. The app loses saved searches and vehicles, seemingly when another app is opened. You have to log out and then back in to get the data reloaded. I’ve emailed customer support twice (two different update versions, as well as two different devices) and have gotten no feedback. I see that others are experiencing this problem as well.
