App Reviews

  • Great App

    By someonewhoreviewsapps
This is an amazing app and I am learning a lot from it. If you in anyway hesitant about downloading it.... DON’T BE! If you wanna make games and have fun while coding. This is the app for you!!!!! This is especially great for kids because some games that involve learning bore kids, even if they DO want to learn. But this app lets kids learn so much and still have fun. There is a woman who guides you through each already made game. And then once you have gotten the hang of it you have the choice to go on your own and make your own games from scratch. I love this app, if you are interested tap that install button. There is nothing to lose! If you don’t feel comfortable or don’t feel like this is your vibe, you can always delete the app(which I doubt you would want to do). But overall this is an amazing. I totally recommend it!
  • This game dying. 😕

    By Star Shard
I love this game and all but unless you pay, you won’t really learn anything which isn’t bad but if your new player it gets kinda annoying. (I’m not new though) To get likes you either have to be 13+ or super good at art. It may of been fun in the past, but MANY old players have said that this game is dying. Hopscotch has done a horrible job up keeping the game. They don’t seem to even know what’s going on in the game, socialwise I mean, I understand haters because every game has them but now anybody who makes a good drawing and says the goody-2-shoes “Hi, I’m new!” Gets on trending immediately. This game is no longer about “coding”. Unless you want a social media to raid and ruin with drawings DONT PLAY IT. The only reason I’m giving it three stars is because the actual coding part is fine.
  • Blocks iPad Parental Control Apps

    By buffyg123
I want to love this app, I do. My 7 year old daughter is majorly intrigued by coding and this app feeds into her obsession. However, she’s one of those kids who can’t break away from screens. After a time, I finally downloaded an app (Our Pact) that allows me to control exactly what apps she can utilize and how long she has iPad time/when each day. One Saturday a few weeks back I wasn’t paying attention and was in and out of the house with yard work. Next thing, I realize she’s been on for about 3 hours - some magical thing with this app blocks the timer on the installed profile and in turn allows her to play as long as she wants. The moment she closes out, the Our Pact app kicks back in and blocks her for the day but until then, my addict gets her fix. That aside, there are a lot of amazing features of this app and I hate taking it away from her, but I must.
  • Very Easy to Use And fun too

    By CrayCodes
Wow! I’ve had hopscotch for a few months now, and I’ve got to say- this app has made me a great app maker. It has also made math fun! The only thing I’d like to add is can you please make a block “Start over”? This way we won’t have to make everything invisible and so forth... please consider this. Also, can you please try to add a block that you can record your own sounds? This app is SO helpful. Thank you so much hopscotch! This app has changed my life! Hi I see u replied to my review but didn’t answer one of my questions. I was thinking how the sound block isn’t very useful, there are few sounds to work with. Can u PLEASE make a record sound block? It would be SO helpful. Anyways, thanks for writing back! I will give five stars if u make this record feature! Thanks!
  • Great for coding! Or so it seems...

    By M_W_K
This environment is amazing for coding, with a useful, understandable blockly. The community helps one get some review on your inventions, and allows for others to test it. But like all other great things, it has one fatal weakness that messes everything up... It has the most horrible auto- and manual- SAVING! I can literally spend HOURS on the device coding something, only to lose it all when hopscotch relaunches when I leave the app to do something else. And, just now, when I spent quite a while coding, it lost it all when I pressed the home button, which was the only way to save it! It’s so annoying sometimes... and then, it was an inefficient back button, with the most loopholes in which your stuff is lost forever or not lost forever when it said it was lost forever, so yeah. It’s annoying.
  • Love the app, I have some suggestions

    By XxMr.WolfxX
To start off, I love this app! And I think it’s good for kids my age (or under) to be able to learn simple coding. And the community is awesome posting so much art and games for everyone to enjoy! Like the title says I have some suggestions that you could add to the app in the future. 1. Cloud Variables The reason why I think this should be added because, people could play online with each other. There could multiplayer games and chat systems! 2. Custom Sounds What I mean by this, you could record yourself saying something for the project. For example, I want to have the Bear say “BOO!” When the user touches it. They could use this block and record themselves with a microphone. 3. Making Custom Profile Pictures Free The reason I want this, is so I can have something more than the options we already have. I’m grateful that unsubscribed users have profile pictures, but please consider making custom profile pictures free. That’s all of the suggestions I can think of right now, at the moment. Please respond
  • It’s a good app, it’s just sometimes..

    By Amy33c
It can be really frustrating with the Apple ID signups, usually my parents would get it quick and done however it works everywhere but here. I’m not sure why this happens but being a kid who wanted to develop for a long time I really look up to this app as I’ve had it before it had the free trials and payment, this app is still very good for beginning coders who seek to make games for the world to see, starting from this very app, although it’s flaws. It is a very good app and I hope to see more content as soon as I can finally experience this apps great techniques and friendly community once again.
  • The Best Coding Game I Have EVER Seen!!!

    By Qster B.
This is a really good app especially if you are getting in to coding and making games. I’ve made some games on it but I have only published one game, The Cookie Clicker Story. This is really good for age level 7+ but I think anyone would be able to make great games on this app. The only problem is that I have two tablets and the one that I use Hopscotch on is my Apple iPad. I also have a Samsung tablet that I would like to have Hopscotch on but unfortunately Hopscotch is not available on a Samsung. So, please Hopscotch, make it so I can have Hopscotch on my Samsung tablet.
  • I don’t like the subscriptions

    By jesus 1s rea1
I don’t like how they make everything ‘subscribe’ it is a learning program and I don’t think that subscribing should really be in something like this but it is ok and I understand for game that I think is free it’s been a week while since I bought the game and Maybe the subscriptions are free but it scares the younger audience and the older audience that oh a monthly fee and the kid don’t want to press subscribe because they are afraid of spending money and getting in trouble but I understand why you need the subscriptions to gain money and since it is educational you can’t have ads that’s all other than that the game is great. (Sorry for bad grammar)
  • Amazing!!!!!

    By MissMiss13
I can’t say enough good things about Hopscotch!!!! I downloaded this app so I can teach my children coding. We homeschool, and so I requested information the make available for schools. I received customer support within an hour of sending the email. They set up a teacher account and student accounts for us as well as explained how to get the lesson plans and links for other resources. I have ZERO experience coding but feel it is very important for my kids to learn. Hopscotch makes it so easy to teach and so fun for the kids to learn!! Great app and great support!!!
