App Reviews

  • Yummy Yummly

    By HappyGoLucky1970
I’m a major Foodie. I have found so many incredible and interesting recipes on Yummly. Even ones I’ve used over the years myself. I really enjoy the ability to research so easily. I try a lot of recipes that fall into several different categories. So it’s always a pleasure to come on to the app and be able to research in less time than books, especially when the recipes give you nutritional information that is accurate. However, with all the great things one thing has begun to bother me somewhat. I go to the recipe and the page is gone and that is when you go to directions. It’s very unfortunate to find a wonderful recipe only to find that it’s not complete or accurate. If you fix this Yummly I will give you the 5 stars. I switch from this app Yummly and Food Network to create a planned menu weekly. I also use true and tried recipes I’ve counted on throughout the years. I try as often as I can to give a comment on the recipe I am trying for the first time. However, with so much cooking and daily life, commentaries can get pushed to the side. I do eventually get to them just may not be the same day. Keep up the great job and work Yummly and please fix that error page, I have been disappointed quite a bit lately from that ordeal. Thanks for asking for a review after I used the app for a while. I appreciate the timing.

I’ve been using the Yummly app for a few years now. I can find every recipe I am searching for, and believe me it has come in handy. In the last year I’ve switched diets from Mediterranean to Vegan to Keto, now I’m low carb. All the while I’m gluten free. The app makes it easy to obtain allergy free recipes and recipes geared toward my diet. I also receive emails from Yummly. Just before Christmas I receive cool kitchen recommendations. I may put some items on my Christmas list for me or buy items for my friends and family. I am an avid gardener and sometimes need fresh new ideas for an over abundance of vegetables or fruits. With Yummly I can search the vegetables name and find all sorts of recipes. This year I canned my very own tomato sauce with a Yummly recipe! I also learned how to cut a whole chicken in half and roast it! The amount of “Yums” on each recipe make it simple for me to chose what recipe I want to try if multiple recipes pop up under my search. I’m rating Yummly 5 stars because I can always find an outstanding recipe to suit my and my family’s needs.
  • Best recipe app!!!

    By St1ac2ey3
I’ve tried pretty much all the recipe apps and this is by far the best. I use it nearly every day. I have food allergies. Yummly let’s me select foods I’m allergic to along with foods I don’t like. That’s nice because it allows me to expand my allergy list. I can pick a specific diet. In our case, pescatarian. I can also pick our favorite cuisines like Mediterranean, Greek, Indian, etc. I’ve not found a lot of the other food apps to be so specific at narrowing down your searches. I don’t want to see foods I’m not interested in. I love the fact that the recipes are easy to make. You can even select how many ingredients you want. I don’t want to have to research ingredients or cooking methods. I want simple recipes that my picky tween and teen will eat. My family raves about the stuff I make from this app. I’ve made some things two nights in a row at my kids request because they love what I’m making. I’ve always hated cooking, but since I started using this app cooking has been less of a chore. The recipes are interesting.
  • AWESOME...But just one thing...

    By kaylaxoxijsodnhd
Yummly is seriously so amazing and I'm surprised I haven't heard about it until now. It definitely inspires me to want to cook more often. Also, the way you can filter through recipes is so cool. I will usually look for different recipes on Pinterest, but this app just makes everything so much easier. You see something that looks good, and can instantly save it. Then you just tap the picture, and boom you have the recipe. Also the way you can filter your allergy/diet specifications is one the coolest things about the entire app! The only thing I wish it did have (and i understand this isn't very high demand compared to diet) is a weight GAIN filter. Thats one of the toughest things that I struggle with, with having such a high metabolism, is finding HEALTHIER meals that help you gain weight(more protein, calories) . If there was even just an option in the “Nutrition” filter where you can select “higher calorie amount” or something like that, would be super awesome. Just my personal feedback and this is the ONLY negative thing that I have to say about Yummly! :-)
  • Amazing, so many good features

    By Egghead101😋
Yummly is a great app. I have found so many recipes on the app that I never would have found otherwise! If you aren’t sure about a recipe, just look at the reviews for the recipe. Reviewing recipes is honestly such a good idea, as most recipe-filled websites or apps don’t have such features, meaning that you have no idea if the food will turn out well. You can save the recipes, which is another great feature. Find a recipe you would like to try? Just save it so you don’t have to go back and find it later. If you are planning on making several different things at the same time, you can add the ingredients you need to the shopping list on Yummly, sorted by category of foods. When you first log on to Yummly, the user can choose what foods they dislike, what they are allergic to, if they are on any diets, and what kinds of dishes they enjoy preparing. This filters the recipes you see, and you can then find more recipes you would like. Yummly is my #1 choice as a baker and chef.
  • Great app

    By nametaken4:68
There are a lot of pluses about this app. I like being able to put something I want to make in the search box and getting not one but several to many different options. It also has a function that you can easily create a shopping list for any of the ingredients you might not have on hand. There are informational discussions as well. I just read about the differences in various flours and how and why it effects what you are baking. In the article it tells how to convert regular flour to cake flour so you don’t have to run to the store and buy some if you don’t happen to have it. The customer support is outstanding. I was having difficulty finding a recipe that I had just used about a week before so I wrote to the company to ask them why I couldn’t find it. I heard back the next day, on a Sunday from Kiara who was very helpful and thorough. She even offered to try to find the recipe for me. The only thing that I don’t like about the app is the type. It’s small and hard for me to read. I’m using the app on my phone and when I need to go to the next step, I have to wash and dry my hands then pick up the phone so that I can get it close enough to see what I’m supposed to do next. I’m hoping they will give the user the option to go bigger with the type like some of the online newspapers do, or just make the type a little bolder, bigger and black. If they do that it’ll be perfect.
  • A M A Z I N G : a thorough review

Right away when you get the app it gives you a quiz about foods you prefer and don’t prefer, if you have any food allergies, or if you are on a diet. You can always change these in settings. There is a home page of foods the app thinks you would like and an explore page if you want to try new things. There is also a search bar. All of the recipes have the nutritional facts and tell you how long it takes to make. You can also set a reminder on the app of when you would like to start preparing your meal. You can give the recipes reviews and comments. You can also save the foods you want to make and there is even a way to organize your saved recipes. You can even make a shopping list on the app and there is a spot on the app where it tells you of good cooking tools you can buy from different brands. Love this app!
  • Love this app but needs a notes feature

    By Mistress of Awesome
I've been using this app for a week and it's already basically changed my life. I can much more easily find recipes to try, add all the ingredients to my shopping list, and schedule what night I want to cook each meal. I'm saving money because I'm not eating out, and my family is happy because they aren't getting the same three meals on constant rotation. HOWEVER. I have one quibble. It appears there is no way to leave yourself a note on a particular recipe (like "try this with half the sugar next time," or "this is my new favorite but the husband doesn't care for it, so make it when he's out"). I instead have to rely on leaving public reviews for each recipe that includes my notes, which isn't ideal. If they were to fix this issue to allow users to leave private notes on recipes, I would easily give this app five stars, as it is otherwise fantastic.
  • Yum is right!

    By CPinBerkeley
I’m not particularly skilled, experienced, or enthusiastic in the kitchen. But I’ve occasionally looked up recipes and been led to a variety of cooking apps and websites. Yummly is the first one I’ve found that has started to actually draw me into cooking more. The mix of recipes across cuisines, meals, and difficulties has made it possible for me to begin to not just make the simple things I’m familiar with, but to compare different versions of dishes, not to mention learning techniques that allow me to make some of my own adjustments and experiments. Yummly hasn’t turned me into some great home chef, but it certainly has me doing more in the kitchen than ever before. There are other recipe and cooking apps, and clearly some are a better fit than others, depending on one’s own taste. Me, I’ll stick enthusiastically with Yummly!
  • Perfect for the Househusband!

    By Ashley Hudson105
After retirement I took on the head cook and bottle washer in my household while my wife went to work each. I found out I loved cooking for everyone especially if they enjoyed the meal I’ve prepared which is pretty often. I use Yum 90% of the time even when cooking meals I’ve been cooking for some time. I can always find a recipe that adds to my knowledge of a recipe. Further, it gives me the opportunity to experiment with new ideas for breakfast or dinner. Most of the recipes I choose are not that difficult to make and I’ve found the simplest are sometimes the best. If I find one I especially love I simply put in the recipe box that’s provided with the app. I highly recommend Yum. I’ve tried using other apps and I’ve found Yum to be the simplest and easiest to master.
