App Reviews

  • Not the worst but not the greatest

    By Opalescent-Tides
I'll start off by saying that in comparison to other things like tinder or meetme, her is a pretty refreshing change that makes it easier to find other girls in the LGBT community to talk to. That said, there are things that could be GREATLY improved. For one, the fact that you are required to get premium in order to do just about anything on the app -which is vastly overpriced might I add- short of seeing a couple girls closest to your current location and chatting on the "global feed" is aggravating at best. Oh top of that, you're limited to only seeing pictures of people and basing your interest off that alone unless they decided to use one of those cramped text boxes to write a bit about themselves which hardly anyone does due to the format being so hard to get through unless you only write a sentence or two. There NEEDS to be a biography option that's in a clear, wide format that's upfront and easy for people to read. You can only base so much off of a person's picture.

First, I want to address a conflict I am having. I accepted the temporary 7 day free trial and it said I would automatically be charged after the 7 days... anyway it’s been passed that and I want to cancel my subscription. I’ve tried looking for the “cancel subscription” EVERYWHERE but see it NO WHERE. ?????? I’ve tried following the steps given to cancel but nothing.. I haven’t cancelled anything so I’m worried I’m still going to be charged and I just don’t want this app anymore. PLEASE HELP — leading to my review, this app was great at the beginning. It was something new and fun but then I started getting bored of it. The people I tried talking to were cool for a second but NO ONE has ever wanted to actually meet up or anything. The closest I got to meeting someone was with ONE person who I ended up not meeting. I feel like I get more luck with tinder than I do Her, and that’s heartbreaking because I had high hopes of being in a “my” community. Overall, it’s fun at first but it’s at the point where I’m wasting my time looking at my phone instead of looking at people in front of me.
  • Put yourself out there!

Firstly, this app does not deserve one star, but I can’t speak on the pleasant aspects until they get rid of these annoying arse notifications. Please don’t have banners popping up on my phone about dildos or when I most enjoy having sex while I’m at work or in good company. 🤦🏾‍♀️ You won’t be alerted of things you actually care about (someone liking your profile, starting a convo, commenting on your post etc.) if you turn the app notifications all the way off through your phone settings. I’d really rather not use the app if I’m forced into these ‘question of the day’ posts that I don’t interact with anyway. 🙄 Even if they’re turned off in the app settings I still get them! Edit: Now that they’ve seemingly gotten rid of those notifications I can sing my praises. Your enjoyment of this app depends on where you live (I live in a major city), what you’re looking for and how much you put yourself out there. If you’re looking for good conversation this app is a hit. Oftentimes I think people will like eachother and never speak. Be the first to reach out! It makes the experience so much more fulfilling. The layout is simple and intuitive, I don’t encounter bugs often, I've made a lot of virtual and real life friends. It’s great if you’ve moved somewhere new and want a way to connect with your fellow LBGTQ+ community. I haven’t moved up to premium yet, but it’s a perfectly useful app even if you don’t wanna spend money.
  • Suggestions and Flaws

I like the app, but there are some things I wish were different as well as problems that are extremely annoying. Suggestions: - Make the messages more clear. As of right now in your inbox the preview of your messages are either grey or black. Grey for read, black for unread. At a quick glance it makes it hard to figure out if you have a new message. I think it was easier before when there was a circle to represent a new message. - Add a small bio section for our profiles, it gives us more to work off of when looking through people’s profiles. - Also for adding events on our profile, let us search and add past events that we’ve gone to and forgot to add or for the new members who don’t find this feature. - Make adding events to our profile easier. Fixes: - Every time I upload a new pic to my profile, the order of my pictures gets jumbled up. This also happens if I change the location of one photo. And when you put them back in order you think you have but it’s only in order to you, not to anyone looking at your profile. This is extremely annoying because some pics are older than others or you simply want people to see certain pics before others - I can’t find a feedback button anywhere. Usually apps have that. HER has asked for feedback once but I was busy. Then later I have time and can’t find anywhere that I could send feedback (which is why I’m resorting to this platform).

HER is the only decent dating app I’ve used, but I’ve used dating sites over the years. I was very reluctant to try a dating app after having dismal luck with dating sites. Plenty of Fish is garbage and OKCupid is terrible in D.C. if you don’t sort of have a cookie cutter life that looks great on paper, or are pansexual. I met up with 13 women from OKC and zero chemistry. Rarely received messages from anyone interesting. In comparison I met up with 4 people off of HER and the 4th one was the charm. She’s not my future wife but we’ve been dating 4 months and it’s been wonderful. I get tons of matches also and have a lot of fun convos when I’m bored and lonely. Plus I can upload my events to the app and lots of people RSVP to my events there. Dating is often a lonely and frustrating endeavor but I’d have to say HER is one of the better options out there. I give this a 4.5 because it’s good overall but has too many bugs.

This app should be taken off of the App Store! This is the biggest scam I’ve come across. You pay a “premium” fee, and there is no background checks on these people to safely know they are really who they say they are! I was “catfished” by these people who I thought had common interests. They start off by telling you what you want to hear, then the sob story starts and how they need money wired, or iTunes gift cards. Or how they need to get home from Afghanistan, but they can’t access their accounts over there! There’s always an excuse they can’t meet you, call or FaceTime. Yes I am one of those IDIOTS that fell for it and I’m out $500 trying to help a “soldier” come home! I am prior military, so I understand wanting to come home. I called her so called unit, and talked to a Major who confirmed this person never existed with their unit. I filed a police report, and the police confirmed this person was not a resident of that state. PLEASE heed my warning, and find a legit dating app that can assure you the people you are talking to are really who they say they are. And NO one should be asking for money no matter what their circumstances are!
  • So much potential, but falls short

    By gaysanatomy
First, I like this app’s premise and UI overall. However, it is so buggy now that it’s become almost unusable. The developers keep updating it claiming “bug fixes” but I still have to delete and reinstall the app almost daily in order for it to detect my correct location. I live in MN and it almost always thinks I’m in KS, when I’ve never been there in my life. It’ll say matches are <10 miles away, but then I talk to them and find out they’re a thousand miles away. So I delete, reinstall the app, and then it works fine for a while, but after a few hours have passed, I’ll go back in and I’m matching with people from across the country. It’s a real bummer because I used to find some cool girls on here but now I can’t find anyone in my area because of a glitch. You can’t manually change your location unless you pay either, so I’m wondering if this bug is being kept just to get more people to buy premium. Shady
  • I don’t really recommend but it’s Worth a try

    By Shallwedatefan
So I’ve been on this app for about six months now and my experience has been interesting. I’ve met a lot of people even talked to a few off the app and only one so far I’ve met but didn’t go so far. The app is great for the fact you can met people but you NEED a membership to access the other features (which I haven’t done.) My problem with the app is it shows you women that you’ve already swiped left on, it doesn’t change and you will see them again. The app has slightly become tinder with the new update to it. Also you might want to have tough skin when joining ,because I’ve seen a handful of the other users putting others down(most of the time because of their sexuality). Also a lot of the feed is made up of others that complain about their appearance. The notification notice isn’t that great either. But you can meet some great people on there.
  • Alright, so boom.

    By wherearethedecentdatingapps
I honestly can’t stand this app. First of all.. it shows you the same girls you swipe left on. Why am I still seeing the same females I SAID I don’t wanna match with? Second... why do I need to pay for everything??? I understand you gotta make money some how, but You gotta pay for stupid, simple stuff with the app. It only makes sense to have to pay for rewinds. Third... I don’t like how you can’t see all your friend requests because of if you get too many notifications. And you can see everybody that like you because of too many notifications. This app needs A total makeover. They need to be actual profiles.. I need to see actual notifications... this app a waste of time. Y’all don’t show nothing but girls I already said I wasn’t interested in. 🤔 2/10. Would not recommend to a friend. This app is a mess. Get some inspiration from Tinder or Bumble.
  • my fave app for finding both dates and friends

    By idkwhattotype
gotta be honest, i don’t know why this app doesn’t have better reviews it blows other dating apps out of the water (sorry tinder). i love all the different features, like how you can upload lots of different pics and text boxes. i also really love being given the option to just add someone as a friend as opposed to swiping right on them and maybe sending out the wrong idea (if your intention is to just befriend them, not date them). it’s a great app for not only dating, but finding new friends that you have things in common with. this app is pretty much just amazing all around and has been BEYOND helpful in my journey to explore myself and get to know others around me. big thanks to the developers :)
