I do like this app, okay? I think it's very nice, but excuse me entirely @ your pricing??? I am honestly so tired of apps like this advertising themselves as like, accessible to everyone with a mental health issue. mental health can affect anyone, but most of us struggling do not have the kind of expendable income required to pay for subscriptions like this, and it's deceptive to act like this app will help you indefinitely if you don't pony up eventually. the free content is nice but it's basically just a sample, a very small sample of what is available, and you can't just pick the ones that will help you, you have to buy full access. just like all the other apps offering free meditations and content, only the first couple in a random series are available, so if you need help with a specific issue, you have to buy the whole thing eventually. I'm not opposed to giving money to app developers because they deserve income for their work, but this stuff is NOT accessible. this app in particular seems like a very nice supplement along with actual Healthcare... for affluent people who already can afford stuff like, idk, insurance. for people who are not so lucky and just want to frickin sleep, our options are very limited. if there was a choice to just buy the meditations on subjects that I need or to sample specific songs and then buy those, the price tag on those might be doable. not currently an option. thanks but no thanks.
  • Some people just want to sleep!

    By Twilight523
I started using this app two years ago. (2016) I absolutely loved it! I had sleep problems and I looked up tricks and other apps including headspace but I couldn’t afford them and this was free with all this cool stuff. You added stuff and I loved but then most of it was premium. I didn’t mind. I had about 6 sleep stories to chose from and a couple of meditations. Got an update and got sleep music. Then I got a new phone and I forgot the password so had the Apple store restore everything and then I got the app again. There was a huge new update which made me so angry I deleted the app. I got it again eventually. I only had one sleep story and all the meditations were gone except for the 7 days of whatever but only the first lesson!! I used my sleep story but heard it so much I just couldn’t use the app. I went to ASMR which helped me for a few months but it eventually got boring. I used calm again and you could hear the featured story that changed everyday. Yay! A different one. It only lasted a week. Tonight I look and the featured story is now premium. Look, some people can’t afford and JUST WANT TO SLEEP!! At least lower the price or do a really good deal that’s worth buying. I have read other reviews like this and I wish I could like them. This is probably the third review I have written and you guys have done nothing. I am really disappointed. Put at least another sleep story!!

I have been using Calm for about four years, since a time when I was suffering heavily from postpartum anxiety. My therapist recommended I try mindfulness, but I didn’t take her very seriously at first. Then I read a magazine article that recommended Calm and I decided to tried it. I am so thankful that I did. I have learned so much. This app has taught me to take a step back from my anxious thoughts and really examine them. It has also helped in situations where I was on the verge of panic. I have been able to pause, remind myself to breathe, and then I find it much easier to cope. The new Master Class series is fascinating. I have been using what I learned to recognize all sorts of habits I didn’t even realize were negative habits, like mindless social media, saying up late, procrastination, etc. I’ve been applying the lessons from that series and asking myself, “what am I really getting from this behavior?” Most times, that’s enough just to disenchant myself from the behavior and move on to a more positive experience. Thank you, Calm team, genuinely. This app has been an essential tool in helping pull me out of the darkness of postpartum anxiety, helping me fight daily my anxious tendencies, and has helped me be a better spouse, parent, and person. Keep up the awesome work!
  • Racist Nirvana (Updated, problem corrected)

    By Yphili
(This problem has been corrected. Aside from this early incident, Calm has been a god send in these hectic times. It even helps drastically with racism, oddly enough. I encourage everyone to use it and I’ve been suggesting it over the past year. I’m only leaving the initial comment up because I think it will help people be mindful of taking all people including marginalized communities into consideration when they create services, apps and products. Once again thanks for the great product and correcting the initial issue) I was greatly hurt, disappointed, and in disbelief at the fact that someone at Calm, an app designed to help deal with anxiety, especially in these hectic times with this president, decided to include Ben Stein a fascist Trump apologist—reading racist "Wealth of Nations" as a bedtime story. I put it on and began to fall asleep but was jolted to anger when I heard them talking about savage nations and western nations it made me angry for days. This is unexplainable! I sent an email and tweet, that we're not responded to. Either I'm the only person of color using this app, or people are really slow on the ball this is unacceptable!
  • Daily sessions to look forward to

    By Furrilius
I never knew much about meditation until a mentor introduced me to the practice. It is exactly that, a practice. I found it difficult at first to stay focused but found that it came more easily the more I did it. I became hooked and noticed the positive impact it had on all aspects of my busy, hectic life. I knew I wanted to continue guided meditation and my mentor recommend finding an app that I liked. After trying free-trials of several apps I knew hands down this was the one for me. The selection of background sounds, and her soothing voice were exactly what I was looking for. The length of sessions are sufficient to fully relax and recharge yet not too cumbersome to fit into a busy schedule. I come to look forward to the sessions at the end of each day as my “me time.” I like that there are pre-programmed sessions aimed at specific topics or goals and there are daily sessions as well. The fact that the app keeps track of my progress helps to keep me motivated to never skip a day. I can’t say enough good things about this app, well worth every penny!! I am hooked.

I am loving Calm. It is perfect for where I am right now. I love the 10 minute daily calm. I look forward to the new topic each day and 10 minutes is a very manageable amount of time even in my busy schedule. I am working through the 21 day beginning meditation series as well. I like that I can do the daily calm each day and then add a 10 minute beginning session when I have time. Tamara’s voice I find very pleasant and reassuring. I like being able to choose some soothing background sound like birds chirping or fire crackling. And finally I am enjoying the sleep stories and find they are helping me fall asleep more quickly in the evenings. The only negative is I’m not too fond of the music selections. I find most of the music to be somewhat jarring and irritating rather than soothing. I would love if some peaceful soothing music were added as options. So right now I just don’t listen to the music. Overall, this app has been fantastic for helping me learn to quiet my mind and stop destructive thought loops. I am definitely feeling calmer and more present than ever before.
  • Worth every penny

It almost seems like everyone in the world has anxiety and depression nowadays. I do t want another problem like addiction to drugs so I was endlessly in search of alternative help. I just want to be more in control of my emotions. Hormones play a big part in my emotions. An instance that makes me furious, sad, depressed, hopeless, and aggravated one day could be the same instance on another day and it wouldn’t bother me a bit. Due to my fluctuations in emotions due to hormone changes I didn’t want to take pill(s) daily. So I stumbled across this app and gave it a try. NEVER LOOKED BACK. It’s wonderful for stopping me in my tracks and calming me down. But you do it often and the lessons follow in your life. I love love love the coach’s voice. I am a private person and don’t share my feelings which is helpful to some, but I don’t need to when I practice with the help of this app. You can choose how much time you want to spend. A lot or a little. There’s even an “emergency calm” selection, I haven’t used but am saving it for when I need that best friend to say “everything is going to be ok!”
  • Thankful and learning each day to be Calm

    By Seashell60
My doctor had shared with me about the benefits of meditation.... I needed something to help when I was anxious as well something to help me relax. Shortly after that doctor visit I found the Calm app. It's been almost 2 years. It had been a stressful day and there was an introduction to the app and I took the 10 minutes and did the breathing and really focused on relaxing. I went back to work and I immediately told everyone about Calm.... I have been using it ever since! The time I meditate is my time to focus, to breathe and to just be in the moment. I had horrible insomnia and started the body scans... I tried the sessions without buying the subscription but soon found that I wanted more of the sessions after I did the first; so I bought the subscription and have never regretted it once! It's been a godsend. I love the bedtime stories and the daily Calm.... there is so much on this app that has helped me. I love that the app is adding new things. Thank you Tamara for sharing and helping me bring peace and calm into my life!
  • I can't rate this app highly enough!

    By Valholla03
1st off, I TRULY appreciate the app giving me time to try its features before asking for an App Store review. I absolutely HATE when you've used an app for all of 5 minutes and then it asks you to rate it. Absolutely awful, how would I really know? This app gave me the time to explore it and use it for a good week before asking for a review. Bravo! As far as the app itself, by session 7, I REALLY zoned out into the meditation and almost put myself to sleep I was so calm. I remember when I first began I was anxious to check when I would be done. But by the end of the week, I was surprised we were done already. I'm excited about that. The music is calming, the guidance is very calming and helpful. And it's very easy to use and I love the reminder and quotes at the end. Again, I can't rate this app highly enough. I hasn't even asked me to upgrade to the paid version yet so I don't know how much it costs to continue meditating but I sure hope I can afford it. They deserve being compensated for the labor of this app!
  • I love this app!

I struggle with anxiety and insomnia. I've meditated on and off for years and felt better but recently had lost interest in my usual mantra meditations. I'd been thinking mindfulness would be good to try but couldn't quite get myself to spend hundreds of dollars for official classes. A friend told me about Calm and I decided to try it. I was surprised by the high quality of the instruction. It's like having a guru, therapist, and wise friend all in one. After a week I decided to pay for the full version. Incredible value for money. I've meditated every day for two months and been able to bring mindfulness to many areas of my life - my job, eating habits, and social interactions. Those are all still a work in progress but becoming more aware of how my anxiety affects me in those settings is a huge first step. I also love the sleep stories and music. I love knowing that if I wake up in the middle of the night I have this great tool to help me break the gerbil wheel of worrying thoughts and fall back to sleep.
