App Reviews

  • Dont ruin something that’s already broken

So, this app had already not worked well for me when it came to staying connected to the chromecast but at least before if it would stop working (i.e. when I turn my phone screen off & go back to the app & try to play/pause it wouldnt work) but at least I could still skip through my videos on my queue & it wouldnt completely disconnect which is what happens now. It doesnt even take me turning my screen off, I could just be scrolling down my subscriptions or a playlist or even just scrolling through what I just searched & it will completely disconnect from my chromecast but will still be playing on my TV. I have to close down the whole app & then try again. If I try to just connect it back to the chromecast without closing the app entirely, it will just say it’s connecting to my cast but my queue will be empty & it doesnt show what I am watching because it is still casting the video I was watching. It was better before & even then it wasnt great. Fix it please!!

I use this app all the time and for the most part it works really well! The videos load up fairly quickly and they can be watched without any trouble when watching in a high resolution. And in its simplest form, that’s it! It works well! However, there are some bugs and some flaws that need to be fixed. While the videos are watchable, at times it will freeze and the app will just crash. This can get really annoying when you’re watching something and then all of a sudden it just crashes on you. Thankfully, once you head back into the app, it will let you start off from where you were. But there is one last flaw that really should be fixed, connecting to the TV. While videos do work well on the TV, half of the time I’ll be watching a video, and then all of a sudden I may accidentally tap the icon to connect to the TV and then it will just connect. You can exit out of it, but sometimes I won’t notice and it will connect to my TV without me even knowing. And I feel like when you tap on the icon, it should say “Are you sure that you want to connect to this TV?” And then you could either tap Yes or No, instead of it just automatically connecting with very little time to cancel the operation. Other than these though, the app isn’t all that bad and I would recommend it, as long as the flaws don’t mess with your time watching videos, then it is a passable app.
  • Solution: 3D Touch

Great app, I use it every day. Just ONE THING (and a real sensible solution): --THING: (Users with shaky hands, whether through the effects of caffeine or neurological disorders, or while walking or in a moving vehicle, may experience this more often.) While a video is playing and the user is browsing comments or other videos to play next or later, it is way too easy to unintentionally tap, even slightly touch, another video link that will immediately stop the existing video and start playing another. It's an inconvenience that's happened many times here, often with videos that I've had no interest in viewing, and have had to remove from viewing history to keep any others like them from showing up in the feed. --POSSIBLE SOLUTION: incorporate the iOS features of 3D Touch into the app, requiring a bit more pressure on a video link if a video is already playing and the user wants to play another video before it's finished, and ensuring that the action is done with definite intent. --ANOTHER idea, and for systems without 3D Touch, could be a request for confirmation, with a tiny, semitransparent pop-up asking something like, "Do you want to stop (current video) and play (next video)?" without disrupting the current video. Five stars for sure if this could be added to a future update.
  • What’s Going On?

I don’t know if my phone hasn’t updated it until now or if this is just now happening but when I click to listen to my music playlist it shows the videos in the order they’re usually in when not on shuffle like it used to. But when I click the shuffle button to start it shows the order that it’s shuffled so that I know what the next song will be. There’s no problem with that but the irritating part is that when I find the song I want to listen to and turn the shuffle off, it doesn’t revert back to playing in order like it used to. It continues to play that song and then play the next song on the shuffle list, not on the next song that would normally play if it wasn’t on shuffle. Now, I don’t mind listening to my music on shuffle, that’s the whole point of shuffle, but I have a rather large playlist for songs and sometimes I’m looking for a specific group of songs that are next to each other in the playlist. Because of my having a large playlist, I used the shuffle feature to find the songs I want and then turn the shuffle off to listen in the normal order rather than scrolling through hundreds of songs to find the right ones. The feature of it reverting back after clicking to turn the shuffle off is helpful when I’m looking for specific songs but it’s hard to do that now that shuffle no longer does that.
  • Two bugs you really need to fix (sorry for this being WAY to long)

Alright, I'm giving this four stars I would've put five but these two bugs have bin going on for awhile and it's annoying me. 1.when I'm watching I video I want to get out of full screen and all of a sudden it switches me back into full screen and it wouldn't let me leave it this has been going far to long and it's getting annoying 2.Now this one hasn't been going for a long time but this is getting in my nerves when I type a comment on a video and then I think to myself *nah I shouldn't type that* so I tap the screen to get out of the comment and it shows the keyboard this is confusing the way I'm typing this but let me explain for people reading, for iPhones, iPads and tablets you have to tap on your screen to get out of your comment but of course people may have done that by mistake and then they have to type it all again so it tells *do you want discard your comment or keep typing* simple but NOW when I want to get out of the comment the thing shows BUT MY KEYBOARD DOESNT DISAPPEAR AMD IT BLOCKS THE *do you want to discard the comment or keep typing* SO THEM I HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE APP SO I CAN WATCH A DIFFERENT VIDEO THIS IS SUPER ANNOYING
  • Bug fixes needed

I think we can all agree to the greatness of this app, I myself use it on a daily basis and it’s one of my favorite ways of entertainment. But to continue to work and be great, it needs some bugs to be fixed; for example i use a lot the Watch Later playlist when i spot a video i want to see but i cannot see in that precise moment, i usually add it to my Watch Later playlist and when i have time to see it i just go there to find the videos i have saved. This function has a lot of issues, sometimes it doesn’t let me tap on any videos for me to open them so i’m just sitting there touching them repeatedly and it just stays there doing nothing, i have to close the app and open it again to find the video (again). Same happens when i want to remove a video i have already seen from this playlist: it doesn’t do anything. So practically mi Watch Later playlist its just stacking up with videos i have already seen and i can’t do a thing about it, each time a update of the app comes out i hope you guys fix this but you don’t and it has been like this for months, I initially thought it might be my phone but i switched phones and now i have the iPhone X and it’s the same. Please fix this soon
  • Terrible interface

As a person who makes apps, this app is designed as if they expect you to have a mouse connected to your phone. A new icon has shown up, in the top left corner of the video as they play, it is a blue icon, sits right on top of the minimize button, so it takes 40 attempts to minimize the video playing when you want to surf for another video. Also, that new button, is absolutely worthless, as it just opens your ‘connected’ device list. The very same as the iPhone screen mirroring button. I can’t believe that was approved. Even with the absolutely useless blue icon over the most important button in the app to drive me crazy, all the buttons are too small. My fingers are too big for the super tiny buttons, come on and at least give us the option to scale up the interface... the phone on screen keyboard buttons should be the smallest any button is allowed to be, even if you don’t show it, that should be the minimal clickable area. This shouldn’t even have been an issue.
  • I see a lot of complaining

This app is good. You watch videos. The system keeps suggesting stuff for you to watch. While it’s suggestions aren’t perfect for everyone, they are a good addition none the less because google makes more money. Imagine if their were no suggested videos... Yeah, it would get pretty boring, and videos would get much less views. And yet, people are whining about how the algorithms are just that—not perfect. Be thankful that the algorithms even exist! It seems like whenever something’s wrong with an app, people forget to recognize what that thing’s use was entirely, and keep dissing it. They say something like “Great, but I hate the app because blah, blah, blah”. Is this what reviews are for? Endless complaints? Not really. They should (in the app makers’ minds) make people checking out the app want to get it. Instead of getting an analysis of the app, they get complaints toward the app makers (google). Reviews? More like suggestions/complaints.
  • It’s ok but needs a lot of work!

I love watching family vloggers and even listening to music! But there are some issues I’m running into here’s #1. The videos load ok at times at other times videos will stop and buffer, sometimes sit and buffer for 2 minuets and then continue playing. #2. At times videos keep switching different quality and won’t stay locked on to the default quality setting which is 1080p but it keeps switching between 144p to 360p then back to 1080p. #3 the app crashes and when it occurs it even causes my whole phone to crash and lock up and not do anything so I press the home button 3 times to gain access to my phone again to close the app completely out and restart it but it doesn’t crash every often it happens maybe every 3 or 4 times I open the app to watch the family vloggers! So all in all, all of these things are annoying and if these things can be fixed I would find it to be better then before! Some will say no it’s your internet, I say explain to me why I’m having these issues with the app and internet if my internet speed is 1 gig per minute!
  • Very good app, just a couple of suggestions

    4
    By elenaCaballero
I use this app every single day, and it is honestly very good. I would just like to give a couple of suggestions and report a bug. The suggestions are: the ability to like a video from landscape mode, I personally love to add to watch later and then watch all my vids one after the other, but to give a like I have to go to portrait mode, I'd like to have that ease of liking while in landscape. The other suggestion is that I would like to add to watch later directly from my notifications! I hope you take these in consideration. As for the bug, I don't know if it's just my iPhone 6s plus, but sometimes when I'm watching in landscape mode and I tap the screen to show the controls, the app freezes my phone. I can't tap anything, I can't press the home button, instead I have to press the lock button multiple times to lock the phone and then unlock it to be able to fix the issue. Please look into this, it doesn't happen all the time and the app doesn't crash, but it annoys me quite a bit...
