App Reviews

  • Poor functionality

This app seemed promising and does provide a lot of great manga to read, but I am consistently having issues that make the reading experience quite annoying. For one, the app frequently crashes on me in the middle of use. This happens often and is quite annoying. I am also constantly getting intrusive ads. Some ads which block off any music I may try to play in the background, or ads that pop up and I have difficulty getting off the screen. I have also gotten what seemed like a porn add (featuring naked women) pop up. Another thing, if a manga is licensed, it would help if it does not appear in results anymore? If I cannot use the app to read it, why does it still appear in search results and recommended results? I also will get randomly logged out of my account, especially when I see the app has updated. The updates also do not seem to help, as the more the app has updated, the more frequent my problems with it occur. I understand it is difficult to maintain quality with these sorts of applications, but the intrusiveness and lack of smooth running really make the experience poor. It also seems that in the past, the app worked quite well so I am wondering if these problems are recent. Please try and fix the crashing and intrusive ads coming up. It makes the app very difficult to use.
  • Love this app!

I love Manga Rock! Ever since my sister had her iPad I will ask if I can download this app to read and when I do she’ll delete it and I redownload again and again. However, before I discovered this app, I had Mangareader and it was fantastic until it became unavailable. Unable to find another fantastic app, I came across this one and it has been my “Go To Manga App.” It is my absolute favorite! I will get this app on every devices I have! (No kidding!) But when I had a galaxy phone and a Kindle I have to download the Definitive Manga Rock Version. (Also, I forgot to back up on the galaxy phone that I lost quite a couple favorites 😭) I have no problem with it as long as I can download the app and read it. Now that I have my own personal phone (an iPhone) I was able to download the app on the AppStore. Horray! However, the downside to it is that a few of my “favorites” mangas has been deleted due to the license. (<— This was after the update) I began searching for another manga browser because of the problem, but I couldn’t find any and realize I can just read the mangas unavailable for this phone on my Kindle since I was able to still read it.
  • Best Manga App - But Some Suggestions, Please Consider

I have tried various manga apps and this app is the greatest and most user friendly - hands down. However, the favorites section is too cluttered. Once you start reaching 50 to 100 favorited mangas, it’s extremely difficult to keep track of the ones you have finished. My suggestion would be to allow users to mark or separate the mangas they have completed, are currently reading, and the mangas that they are currently waiting for updates on. In addition, it would be nice if there was some way to mark the mangas that you have tried, but didn’t like. I have tried hundreds of mangas that have ended up wasting my time and I definitely cannot remember all of them. This is why it would be easier for me (and others as well) if there was some way to differentiate between mangas that are still waiting to be discovered and mangas one has tried but didn’t enjoy. I’m no programmer, but maybe one option is to put a little X in the top right corner of the manga’s cover art to let you know you didn’t like it. I hope the Manga Rock’s staff will take these suggestions into consideration, I will look forward to future updates with anticipation.
  • It’s great, however...

This is most certainly a great manga reading app. It has a rather large selection of manga to choose from that would be larger than many sources, and if you can’t find what you are looking for, the app allows you to look at another source specifically. It keeps track of your spot in a manga, and it’s not hard to change the reading style to fit the type. It’s a great app. However, It’s frustrating when the app refreshes itself after only a few seconds after closing and it’s not that convenient. The bookmarking makes up for that by being able to quickly jump to. But even before you do that, the app will occasionally sort of freeze or be still on the screen right after the loading screen goes away. The adds are a tad annoying, but I understand that the makers have to make a living, they’re not in terrible spots, and it’s acceptable. The one thing that frustrates me and confuses me about this app, is the licensed manga. If you can’t read it, why show it? It’s quite odd. Like I said however, it’s a great app, has it’s ups and downs, and will probably improved for better in the future. Thanks for taking note if at all
  • Use to love, but regret purchasing...

The downloading system was way better back then, because I'm constantly getting mangas that aren't fully downloaded and pages are never loading. This happens to EVERY manga. The apps used to be SOOOO much better idk why they had to change it cause it’s just not functioning now. It’s so much slower with all these extra sticker things and recommendations. I do think they’re a good idea, only if the app was running smoothy, but honestly performance over presentation any day. NONE of my favorite mangas are showing the cover image unless I go through them and select them EVERY time. I usually look for the images if I want to reread something and this is definitely not working. It would be 1000X better if there were more website synced with with the app (mangago, mangahasu, myreadingmanga) I know the developers are constantly updating and trying their hardest but with each update the app just seem to be getting worst and worst so they’re clearly doing something wrong. Maybe keep the app simple and accessible. There’s no need for all these extras thing that ruins the actual experience of reading the manga. ATM I’m using the actual websites and not even using this app anymore. Will continue to look forward to fixes but not feeling like it’s gonna happen any time soon. (using the app from my ipad mini)
  • Love the app but needs improvements

Don’t get me wrong I love this app! This is by far my favorite app for manga, but it needs improvements. First is pages NOT LOADING! I can’t stress this enough, it’s just when reading something intense but then the page doesn’t load and u miss a big moment is just one of the worst feeling ever! Second is mangas you’ve favorited later are not favorited and losing your progress in a manga which I find weird because it happens randomly to a few mangas. Third is when you read your favorited manga recents but it still has the number on the top right even tho it’s marked as read (This is more of a pet peeve thing of mine). Fourth is the notifications not working. It worked fine for me in the beginning but then randomly stop, but I managed to make it work again by turning it off and on in the settings of the app. Lastly is the mangas being REMOVED. I don’t know if it’s the app to blame or the sources but it’s very frustrating when u find a manga you want to read or have read a long time ago be removed! It’s just makes me sad that I never got to read some of them. In all I still love this app and will continue to use it, but I hope they fix these few problems. 😊
  • New update?

    By Danimassey625
The new update just made everything worse. When I try to reply to do this like reply to a text the app closes its self out and I have to reload everything. Also often multiple pages won't load in a chapter and instead of trying to refresh the chapter I'm given the option to go to the sources website...the reason I have the app is so that I don't have to go to the website and read. Also the app constantly just shuts itself down when I'm in the middle of reading something. I tried reading a completed manga the other night and the app booted me out over ten times while trying to read a short manga. It's very frustrating. I've used this app for years and i just feel like it gets worse with every update. Also the new way to filter mangas when searching is just awkward. Update: The app doesn't even let me read a manga for more than 5 minuets without crashing and returning to the home screen of my phone. Also after I've read one of my favorited mangas it still shows the manga as if I haven't read it yet. I've used this app for years and I'm really sad to see the state it is in now. The only reddening quality of this app is that you can easily browse mangas which you can do on many other apps. I'm sad to switch but that's what I have to do now.
  • Get It!

I found this app from the website when I was starting to get into manga and I haven’t dropped this since. My only concern is that I’ve noticed that some ongoing manga is actually a couple of chapters ahead than where it is in manga rock or that I wish manga rock picked up the series “Appetite” but besides that I don’t mind having this app. Especially since you have manga ranged from all different types of genres. Even those more adult like genres as well. Any way if you like and enjoy reading manga then this app is just for you. Not to mention it’s kind of an addiction and I haven’t dropped this app for almost a year since I first downloaded this. Oh! And for those who are worried about adds well I won’t say they don’t have them, but I will say that you don’t have to sit and wait through them. Instead you just swipe out of the add and you’re back to reading manga. This is one of the reasons I love this app and a reason I also think you’ll love this app too!
  • Problem??

I've been using manga rock for quite a few years now, and I've seen its evolution with all the updates and stuff. I really liked how you could backup and restore on devices, but when I got a new phone and went to do that (adding in an account by Facebook) to back up all my manga favorites, history and such, it wouldn't work. I clicked on the Facebook option, and it said I had already been authorized, but when that tab closed, a pop-up would come up saying that an error occurred and the action couldn't be completed. I tried deleting and redownloading the app a couple of times and doing it on other devices, but it just won't work. I would really like to have all my stuff back, thanks. Otherwise though, I love the easy format and usable features of this app, as well as the large selection of manga to choose from. I've been using it since forever, and to me, no other manga apps beats this one. However, since recent updates, most, if not all, of them will have almost half of the pages not loadable, so I can't really use the app anymore.

Hands down my favorite app to use ever! Had this app for over 3 years 💕 Not only is it a place to conveniently read manga but the way its structured and designed helps me find new manga every day and Im totally in love with it! Not only that but they have cute stickers for imessage! I totally love using them. Their customer service is amazing too! I had a problem with verifying my email and they were quick to respond and really helpful. Their new update that shows the collections, the author, other recommended works of the author is amazing 😩💕 I keep finding new manga to read and im in love with this app 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻😩 I know that theres sometimes problems with loading the manga but sometimes its the other website that uploads the manga's fault bc it's probably a licensing issue. If it doesnt load and its not a licensing issue, give it a few days and the chapter should be readable 🤗 Anyways, 10/5 stars if I could 💕
