App Reviews

  • Offline mode and video

    By €at
Whenever I have the app open and turn off my phone screen for around 5 or more minutes and then turn my phone screen back on while still in the app it will tell me that I am in offline mode and cannot check the box scores but it will still let me do everything else like check player stats and watch videos of the very game I’m trying to check the box score of but when I tap on the box score it tells me I’m in offline mode and need to connect to the internet and I cannot find anything in neither my phones nor the apps options to fix this and the only way I get it to work again is by closing the app and reopening it or try to do other internet requiring things in the app like looking at player stats and sometimes it will no longer be in offline mode. The other issue is when I turn my phone sideways the video won’t enlarge to fill my screen and this is a recent issue, the offline mode has been a thing since the 2018 spring training began. Neither of these were issues in the 2017 season. Aside from that this has been my favorite baseball app for the past 6 years and hope that this review will help in addressing and fixing theses issues that others may be experiencing
  • Had to rewrite my review, since my issue was solved!

    By CJamesM135
Original review: I’ve had this app for a few years now and I listen to my local team every single game. Over the years the app has been glitchy but last season it really came around and continued through the 2018 all-star break this season. It must have been the most recent update because for the last couple of weeks it takes me two or three app restarts just to get my game playing. And I’m only talking about the radio/audio version. I am not interested in game day or video. I cannot even get this app to work like an a.m. radio! Then after a couple of minutes it cuts out and gives me an “authorization failure” message - restart again. If this isn’t resolved by the end of the season, next year I am purchasing the tune in app to listen to my games. UPDATE!! I used the “contact us” link in the app and was able to get help that completely solved my problem! I ended up uninstalling the app, restarting my phone, and then reinstalling the app. Everything works great now! Thank you!
  • Good app, but In App Purchase Warning

    By catfarmer1358
First off, I do really like this app. I enjoy being able to read news and see scores about my favorite team. I decided to purchase the $20 in app purchase because I wanted to be able to watch full games. I do not have access to cable or satelite tv. When my team had its first spring training game a couple days ago, I tried to play the game and it says MLBtv subscription required. Now, I don’t know if it was because it’s spring training or if it’s because I misunderstood the apps purchase, but I would like to know exactly what it is I am paying $20 a year for if I cannot watch live games. I want to add that I still enjoy the app and that I am not going to delete the app and I still find this a good resource, but I think that MLB should make a disclaimer for others who have the same impression...another idea is to add this to the $20 or make a separate in app purchase for live games. A student discount would also be a good idea. I hope this review helps others
  • Why am I paying to see ads?

    By Munktensteiner
I have to agree with other reviewers that the presence, quantity, and length of video ads before clips is unreasonable and frustrating in light of how much we pay for our subscriptions. I would expect there to be no ads at all, unless I were using the app for free. Instead, we pay $90-$116 for an annual subscription and then have to watch 15-30 second ads for every 15-30 second game clip. It’s absolutely ridiculous and deters me from watching, as it’s not relaxing or fun at all. The clips would otherwise be a great feature of the app and my subscription as I don’t have time to watch a game every day but I love the highlights. In addition, I am blacked out from watching Mariners games because I live in Alaska. FYI, it’s a three-hour flight. You are not making any money by forcing me to go to the stadium—only annoying me. MLB, where is the effort to build a quality product and ensure a positive experience for your subscribers? Where is your appreciation for your paying customers? Not sure I will renew this year because these practice seem thoughtless and greedy and both of those qualities appall me. Otherwise, good app. 😏
  • App could be awesome and drive revenue

    By Jkurt13
I listen to my own broadcasters all season but when we get to the playoffsI have to listen to the national broadcast. What is this 1980 something?!? I don't care what the national guys have to say and when it's not my team I could see the home town broadcast could get annoying. So I use this app to try and synch up with my tv and listen to the same play by plan and color guys I hear all year. If you could enhance the app to synch with the tv so I could use your app to listen to my guys I would use it all the time and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So national would get the ad revenue from tv advertising and you could start to sell your broadcast to local markets because you would increase your base significantly. Just add a button to synch with the tv and you'd have something awesome. You could also charge a premium for this because I'd pay at least $10 for the post season to avoid these guys... Thanks for reading... now back to the cubs and trying to stomach Ernie Johnsons play by play...
  • I like it, but there's a problem

    By MaxAgHammer
This is a great app for keeping up with news stories and game stories for any baseball team. You can get news alerts, including in-game (score changes, pitching changes, et c.) but I keep those turned off. There are also lots of other connections to MLB information and promotions in the app. If you're a subscriber to the MLB live broadcasts, you can hear game audio and watch streaming game video in this app, which makes it a great value if you're frequently away from your satellite radio or your television. There's just one problem, though. If you try to look up the schedules for some of the teams (Boston, Yankees, Astros, Angels, Mets, Natinals, Cubs, Cardinals, or Dodgers), the app crashes. That's the list, I checked for every team. Insert joke here about why those teams in particular… but anyway, this happens on iOS 9, and I don't know if it's limited to just that iOS revision. Fix that problem and this app is a perfect 5-stars.
  • MLB needs to fix this!

    By Hoop289
I have been a MLB Extra Innings subscriber thru Directv since 1996. Up until this year I haven’t had much of an issue. But for some reason this year my phone app never wants to connect to the live TV option. My entire account seems to be screwed up. If I go thru the “bought package thru tv provider option”. It comes back as already linked. If I click the already linked option the dog chases its tail & nothing happens, or it tells me to download the At Bat app which I already have the most updated version. If I call Directv, they tell me to call MLB. If I call MLB they have no solution. One tech required me to change my password for both MLB & Directv. That didn’t work either. Now I have to remember the great new password I changed them to. I’ve used the same password for each of them for nearly ten years. Given the fact that my team doesn’t appear to be interested in winning I’m about ready to give up on MLB like I gave up & cancelled my NFL package. Neither one seems concerned about keeping fans anymore.

The MLB app is riddled with ridiculous ads on nearly every page and EVERY video. I'm sorry but with ticket prices as high as they are, food, parking, merchandise, etc I can't afford to take my family to a game. So pardon me if I think bombarding us with ads for additional revenue on your app just to watch a video isn't ridiculous and quite tone deaf. Does MLB really need that additional revenue? Pathetic. And please stop combining stats into one. You guys are really missing the boat trying to make us look at one "league". Fans love the two leagues, the divisions and the inter league rivalry. I want to see who is doing what I'm each league, not a combination. You're killing the golden goose but what sport in America isn't these days? So... keep pricing your future fan base out of the stadiums, then cloud the app with ridiculous ads and watch where you are in 10 years. You won't have the revenue to hand out these lavish guaranteed contracts to overpaid athletes. There is a massive correction coming. I have a feeling you won't see it till it's past too late.
  • misleading on purchases

    By zora.d
The app works fine and I find it very helpful. But I am frustrated by their monthly subscription situation. I have tried multiple times to cancel my subscription and just have the free version on my phone because i just want the basics, I do not use the features on the premium version. And yet, every couple of months i get charged for the monthly version again and don’t understand how i got subscribed or when they gave me the option to opt out. I finally figured out after a lot of digging that i have to go into my AppleID settings and unsubscribe from there to stop the auto payments. But I am frustrated that they make this so hard to find and that the default is for me to start getting charged instead of making it clear whether i want the free version or the premium. Paying for the app one time would be fine, but i don’t use it enough to justify $3 every month. Please make it more clear whether we are subscribing to the paid version and how to unsubscribe if we want to.
  • Great app for out of market fans

    By DonPablo21
This app has been great for my family as fans of an out-of-market team. We are able to watch our team's home broadcast of games live on the iPad, iPhone, or AppleTV, with options to watch each game from the beginning or just watch the live broadcast, and to watch any completed game. The only problem isn't the fault of this app - games against the team in the local market where you live are blacked out (to make you watch the local broadcast). This is reasonable, but these markets appear to be defined statewide, so when my team plays Houston the game is blacked out in the Dallas area, despite the local Houston channel not being available in Dallas area cable packages. (Update: 11.4.1 fixed the video steaming problems I'd been having for the past week or two)
