App Reviews

  • Aug 2017 Wifi Sites Out all over Los Angeles for weeks

Since the change from Time Warner to Spectrum, the overwhelming majority of the outdoor TWCwifi hotspots (including CABLEWiFi and Passpoint-TWCWIFI) in this app no longer connect to the internet. Signal strength shows as very strong - all bars - but trying to connect returns errors of "unable to connect... contact administrator" or "no internet connection". In Oct 2016 I wrote with a 4 star review: The latest update is a huge improvement. I'm in Los Angeles, and despite having to call TWC to have hotspots reset to get them working, I still use this app everyday to find connections when away from home. My sole issue remains the inability to select "when using" for location services. The choice of "always" or "never" forces me to select "never" so I am not using unnecessary data every minute of everyday. I have to physically go into "settings" and change it back to "always" before I open the app, then go back to "settings" and switch it back to "never" after closing the app.
  • Slow email connection

I am so frustrated because I have the most difficult time to get my emails. It’s ridiculous that I have to wait and watch the little blue line forever to simply read my emails. I have read multiple complaints from other Spectrum customers. I can’t believe that I am paying for the WiFi connection that doesn’t work. I can’t wait any longer!! This is unethical and fraudulent. I can’t even get my Spectrum app to open to try to get solutions. Absolutely insane and utterly illegal to have to not have quick access to my emails. I hate to change servers. I have no other choice. I cannot continue to endure the inept and deceptive lack of quality from Spectrum or Time Warner. I guess that their logo should be “too fraudulent to be open for business”! • Much faster connection lately!

I was having an issue a couple weeks ago with a slow connection. Once I restarted my modem, I was surprised to have quite a faster connection. I live in a multi-unit building and am on my laptop and phone quite a bit, while having my tv on to keep up with the news. The improvement in speed make me much more confident in the ability to work from home without the previous extremely annoying intermittent connection problems!
  • Hotspot locations erratic, I want more.

So, I think TWC does NOT have a grid of purposefully placed hotspots, but rather wherever a business is paying twc for wifi for their business' use and twc manages it then twc makes it available to all twc customers with a sign in ID. And just like at home, wifi is only great for about 20-30 feet and usable up to 50 feet. So, if you remember this and are not counting on a hotspot on every corner, then it works great. Once I installed this app I no longer have to enter my twc ID and PW every time. Wifi just comes up, connected. I have gotten in the habit of looking for a hotspot before I leave the house.

I live in a city (Honolulu) and there's been plenty of hotspots wherever I am (university, neighborhoods, Chinatown). I like the feature where you can go to an area (like, downtown) and see where the hotspots are. I like to screenshot these locations so when I don't have service, I can go to these areas and access wifi. Makes it more possible for me to communicate without a mobile carrier. Invaluable!

The application has always been convenient to connect seemingly less and helped save money in the data part of the cellular device. With the purchase from Spectrum plug in no longer worked until I call customer service and walked me through the update of the new plugins and spectrum updates running smoothly.
  • App not saving my password?

Why do I have to sign in every time I open the app? I never had a problem until the switch to spectrum. Every month I get an alert from Verizon that I’m almost out of data, I have 5 gigs. I opened this app and it request me to sign. I should have been signed in all along, and for some reason it logged me off without notice. Now every time I open, I have to sign in. I even uninstalled, and reinstalled this app. I installed the passport. I get a successful sign in saying info saved, and this app is still not working. Spectrum...... what have you done to this app?

Does not work. Would rate it a -5 if I could. Tried 4 times to have customer service assist me to get this back to working. Still can not connect to ANY ho spots. Tried the removal of the app and the profile. Still no joy. Who ever reads the reviews, take it back to where we could connect to the “hotspots.” Your customer service are nice, but after 4 tries you would expect a solution to the issues. But I guess they are following the script and saying it should be fixed after “someone” in tech supports looks into the case for the 4th time.
  • Good when you need it

I like this service it’s good when you need it and especially when traveling. Its not so good at speeds sometimes and I wish it would just deauthenticate when that happens. I also have issue when I am driving in a city using my gps and and it finds a hotspot that either isn’t working or that I need to go into the app and click log in. It has gotten better and I will add more stars as it improves.

So far not so good. While filling out the forms on its home site it kept saying it encountered a problem, couldn't find the server, try again soon. Once I got in , the pages moved right along, good connection. Hopefully it will improve with time. Since Verizon sold the internet to Fronteer my service just sucked, so I switched to Time Warner, and now that changed to Spectrum. Again, time will tell.
