3: How to Use HireVue for Candidates for Windows PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and locate the search bar. Now type HireVue for Candidates in the search bar and hit Search. You will easily see the app. Click on HireVue for Candidates application icon. A window of HireVue for Candidates will open and it will display the app in your Emulator Software. Hit the Install button and your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
Next, you will see the "All Apps" icon.
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the HireVue for Candidates icon. Click on it and start using the application.

    In my opinion, this is a terrible way to screen candidates for a job (I work in healthcare, and healthcare is nothing if not face-to-face interaction between caregiver and patient). This app strips away all the non-verbal human interactions between job candidate and employer, leaving the candidate to wonder what is on the other side of the camera (this is not a videoconferencing app, you are simply recording your interview to a camera). In a face-to-face interview, the interviewer represents the company to which you are applying, and you can glean some idea of the corporate culture by your interactions. With this app, you are left to flounder about with no eye contact or non-verbal cues to gauge their interest during the interview process. Both employer and candidate could lose out on a good working relationship because an otherwise great candidate is someone who is not a natural in front of a camera. Four stars for an app that works as advertised, but a misapplication of technology.

    As a Human Resources leader, I signed a contract with HireVue in my last position in an effort to increase recruiter efficiency. Now that I’m in the job market, I’m finding that many employers are utilizing this technology. From a candidate’s perspective, recorded video interviews like HireVue are incredibly impersonal and awkward. The whole experience reflects poorly on the employer, as all of the burden, time investment and inconvenience falls on the applicant. In an effort to increase efficiency, the employer is effectively giving candidates a negative first impression. Employers who continue to utilize this technology are ultimately doing themselves a disservice. In their effort to increase efficiency, they will ultimately lose out on the strongest candidates, as they will no longer be willing to participate in this cold, mechanical experience. For this reason, as time goes on I believe employers will discontinue the use of recorded interviews. After being on the candidate side of this process I will strongly discourage any future employer from utilizing recorded video interviews such as this.

    This app is designed to get be short and straight to the point. Nobody likes to go to a building, told to wait in a lobby area, then walked through halls or to a back office/conference room and be asked questions that have nothing to do with the job. The questions are directly about the job and your experience and how it can help the company. There are people who get nervous during a face to face interview and that can mess up everything. With this app you are in a comfortable environment “professionally free” (yes that’s my new term) to be yourself. It gives the company a chance to see who you really are. We are supposed to research the company we are working for anyway to see if the environment is something we are going to be able to work in ourselves. This is no different from going on Glassdoor or googling reviews for various companies. The person you go meet in person for a interview may represent the company well, but does not speak on the environment that will be around you. Point blank period this app is the best interview process ever. It may not be what everybody likes because people do not like change, but this is genius.

    I thought this was an efficient way of conducting an interview. The learning video, preparation tips and practice interview session were very helpful in my preparation. Being able to practice as much as possible made me feel more ill at ease. The 30 second preparation time before each actual recording and viewing of your first recording really put you in the driver’s seat to know if your first time through was great or you needed one more chance. A video interview can put you on edge from what you’re used to but after you get going everything flows and before you know it, your done.

    I thought this way of conducting a preliminary interview was an excellent way for me to introduce myself by answering questions that are important to my potential employer. I’m very adaptable to new technology and I found it easy to do, overall. Being given unlimited opportunities to record my responses until I was happy was a big plus for me. It gave me time to jot down some notes and practice recording before hitting the submit button. This guaranteed I was submitting my best responses to the questions asked and I appreciated that. This app is great for the purpose it was designed for.

    I had never done a video interview before, but the process was simple and seamless. It was nice that I could do it in my own time. This I believe will be the interview process of the future. It's just a little akward doing, kind of like staring at yourself in the mirror and knowing others are seeing the same thing. Like when you record yourself singing or talking and then listening and thinking that doesn't sound like me at all. I think I look more confident in real life, but maybe I really don't and can work on it.

    This actually was my first time on this or any interviewing app. I thought it was pretty cool that I was able to do a practice run. Yet true~ I wasn’t able to improve my practice run. I just took notes though and made a mental note what *not to do while on camera. I was nervous at first but actually thought over-all a good experience for a first time video interview. Thank you~ Hope I’m able to get this position if it’s to be, that is, for me! Looking forward to being called for an in person interview next! 🙂

    This app has brought the future to this very time and age. It is a straight forward way of conducting interviews. Yes the anxiety of being in a real face to face interview is minimized a bit because you will be doing the interview in your own space. You are not intimidated by any faces or some other mannerisms by interview panelists. It is just you and your device, once you submit your interview you leave the rest for the recruiter to make a decision. I recommend this method, I think it saves time and resources as well.

    Quick to download and install. I love the way it lets you know how much data will be transferred for practice interviews and such. Time allotments were accurate also. Practice questions were great for warm up before interview and connectivity wasn't an issue even with only a couple bars on iPAD. This saved me having to buy a web cam and I think I might incorporate Hirevue into my husband's interviewing process for his business! This was painless. Thanks Hirevue!
