App Reviews

  • Why the app is going down hill...

    By 2Rickie
This used to be a incredible versatile app. But I think you sold the app to Weather Channel parent company. First you did away with Storm though some of the features are still active in the front load of WU app that display radar and some other features. Still display the same frontal boundary that hasn’t changed in over a month. And still some overlays that say bring up Storm to add features. Ok, I’m over that since it’s history with no explanations from WU. Now the issue is the video section “News”when it comes up it’s blank with “tap to reload”. This does completely nothing when tapped. You can tap on WUTV, Geek Out, Weather Explained, Climate and Historical. So what’s up are u dropping the News section or what? One other item, under settings the NWS feed is unavailable. You’re slowly gutting the app which is still reliable but what is the end game with this app WU? Curios minds would like to know. Or is this “curiosity killed the App”? Or is that Cat?
  • Used to love this app, and now it doesn’t even work

    By Alex ADG
I’ve used this app for years, absolutely loved it, and I even paid to have the advertisements removed. Probably about two months ago it just stopped working completely; it said that it couldn’t connect and wouldn’t no matter how many times I pressed retry. I even tried deleting and re-downloading the app but all that did was put advertisements Back in the app which are the only thing that loads for some reason even though I had previously paid to have them removed for a lifetime before they started doing the yearly subscription. Guess it’s time to find a new weather app unless they miraculously fix it and take the advertisements back off that I paid for not to be there
  • I miss the old app store updates.

    By EmiryB
Not joking. I think the fact that the update blurbs (which used to be extensive and clever) are now a bland default is a reflection of whatever’s going on behind the scenes with this app lately. Did y’all go through a restructuring? This is still my go-to weather app, and I’d hate to switch, but like other recent reviews I’ve seen a drop in consistency, performance, and care. WU has always been an incredible resource both on the web and in its apps, and I don’t want it to be slowly sinking... but things aren’t looking good. We miss you, old WU mobile team.
  • Long time user..

I’m almost to the point where I’m going to just say goodbye. I’ve used your app from the he beginning and loved Storm. So sad you folks gave a great app to the Weather Channel so they could run it into the ground. Here is the real problem. You could easily fix the current map in this app. Instead you pushed an update and left us with a horrible RADAR. Do you folks even know you have links off this app to the old Storm app? PS. You got rid off the best weather app ever...Storm. Your links are broke. I turned all my friends and relatives onto this app. Now I’m telling them to look elsewhere. Not happy.
  • Still will not retrieve NWS forecasts

    By AaronInCal
You guys finally had an update today but I don’t see any differences. The main problem I am having is getting the National Weather Service forecast. Your forecast “on demand” is never very accurate for my area. The NWS do a much better job, in my opinion. At least I can still get the forecast discussion from them. But for some reason the actual forecast keeps saying it can not connect and will lock up the entire app. So I have keep the forecast selection to “on demand” so the rest of the app will work. I hope you guys are trying to fix this issue as it will make a huge difference at least for me. Thanks!
  • Best weather app hands down.

    By MacDad60
The guys at weather underground have created the single best iOS weather app. It’s got a clean UI, provides accurate predictions and the radar provides numerous options for viewing real-time weather events. Only free weather app that shows past temps in simple daily format. Too bad TWC dumped the Storm Radar app. It was tightly integrated with weather app and was a complete weather forecast and viewing system.
  • Nope still no good

    By culleoka
I thought this was going to be "the one". Nope, not even. My first weather app was called intellicast and it was THE BEST. That app was shut down and they directed me to the app Storm. Not as good as intellicast but it would do. Then the storm app was deleted and they directed me to storm radar which was horrible!!! So my search for a decent working weather app brought me here. I thought this was the same group responsible for intellicast so I downloaded it. Nope not even close to being good! Som still on a quest to find a decent weather app! In the meantime I've deleted every weather app I've got and will take my chances.

I’ve been a fan of the WU since it was just the website. The app’s major strengths are the localized weather reports and the ability to crowd-source local weather as it is happening. It also pushes local weather warnings and notifications. There are a couple of things to fix. The screen widget often gives contradictory info in expanded mode. For example, it is telling me now that the weather is clear, but also that “thunderstorms will continue.” Also, the forecast source can only be set to WU’s own Forecast on Demand service. Even though National Weather Service is an option, the app will tell you it “can’t connect” when NWS is selected. I still like the core information that this app provides, but its usefulness is undermined by glitches like the ones I described.
  • Fixed

    By redvaard
I left a negative review several months ago because the app had seemingly broken - data took forever to load, if it even loaded at all. A month ago I deleted the app and reinstalled, and it’s been working flawlessly ever since. Hopefully this new update doesn’t break that trend. 🤞 Glad to be back to my favorite weather app!
  • Only loads a white screen

    By Wornoutcamel
Two updates and still only loads a white screen. This was—and if it worked would still be—my favorite weather app. It’s concise, has a map and isn’t made specifically for millennials with crazy colors, stupid layouts ridiculous animations and useless features, nor is it made for people with PhDs in meteorology. It’s accurate, highly local (crowd sourced weather stations) and has a very good global network. It was reliable, but their quality control has disappeared leaving the app feel purposefully crippled.
