Using Messenger on your Windows computer is actually very easy but if you are new to this process, you will definitely need to pay attention to the steps listed below. This is because you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We will help you download and install Messenger on your computer in 4 simple steps below:

1: Download an Andriod Software emulator for Windows

The importance of the emulator is that it emulates or immitates an android environment on your computer, making it super easy to install and run android apps from the comfort of your PC without buying a phone that runs android. Who says you cannot enjoy both worlds? To begin, you can download such an emulator app made by too top dogs in the space.
A. Nox App . OR
B. Bluestacks App .
Personally, I recommend the "B" option as Bluestacks is very popular so if you run into any trobles using it, you can find good solutions on Google or Bing (lol).

2: Now Install the Software Emulator on your Windows PC

If you successfully downloaded the Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe, go to your Downloads folder on your computer or anywhere you ususally store downloaded files.
Once you have find it, click it to install the application. It should start the installation process on your PC.
Click Next to accept the EULA License agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application.
If you do the above correctly, the Software will be successfully installed.

3: How to Use Messenger for Windows PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and locate the search bar. Now type Messenger in the search bar and hit Search. You will easily see the app. Click on Messenger application icon. A window of Messenger will open and it will display the app in your Emulator Software. Hit the Install button and your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
Next, you will see the "All Apps" icon.
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the Messenger icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Hope it was not too difficult? If you have any further inquiries, contact me through the "Contact" link at the bottom of this page so I could help You. Have a nice day!

  • I would love to see Messenger become more like AIM

    By archerbortion
In many ways Messenger is just like AIM, however I think there are a few features that could be added that would be beneficial for non-Facebook users as well. 1. Away Messages - Being able to let your friends and family know that you’re away / busy / can’t talk until a certain time is an amazing tool that I think a lot of is millennials miss. 2. Online / Away / Idle / Invisible options - What I loved about AIM was that I could set my status to one of the four but at the same time I was able to continue instant messaging my friends. Sometimes you don’t want to talk to a bunch of people, and maybe you’d like to stay online but hidden. Perhaps you only want to message one person, and you don’t want the rest of your friends to see you’re online. By adding an invisible feature, this allows you to chat but remain hidden to others. 3. About Me section - One of my favorite customization options with AIM was being able to write a little bit about myself so that other users could get an idea of who I am. I think for people, who like myself no longer have a Facebook, might find this fun and helpful. 4. Text Options - Another favorite customization option with AIM was being able to change the font, text size, and colors. While there are options to change the chat bubble colors, it’s incredibly limited. This applies to the selection of emojis as well.
  • This is great, but....

Look, people need privacy. If I want to check my messages without people knowing I’m online doing so... I should be able to. I love this app because I can talk to everyone and sometimes even see who is online, but sometimes you don’t want people to know you are on. Let’s say you were specifically checking messages from one person and get bombarded with messages from others in your contact list. Yes, I very much intend to answer them all and delayed gratification is a learned thing that we should all have, but if you only have a second to check one message or are just downright tired and not able to have full out conversations with friends it would be nice to have an option to sign in incognito or only turn on your availability when you are legitimately available for long conversations. I don’t want to feel as though I need to check my phone every time it dings. Yes, I understand I can turn off notifications, but the app hates this and bugs the crap out of you until you do turn them on. Please fix this. I honestly love the capability of being able to talk to all the people I love, but I hate the pressure of constant communication. It is stressful and unhealthy for all to feel as though you need to be in constant contact with hundreds of thousands of people. I’m currently deleting and re-downloading the app just to deal with this issue.
  • I like it but...

    By itzTurnip
It’s a good app, I use it daily to chat with friends. With the update that was released yesterday (6/22) it has stopped from deleting messages. It will say they are deleted but they stay there the entire time, they obviously are not deleted when the other person replies about that message. What if you’re in an argument and send something you don’t mean, then think let’s get rid of that because that’s too much, but it will not delete, causing a bigger problem. Things to add would include adding a seconds from activity thing, if someone is texting someone else then it will read “Active 1m ago” but if they actually just went offline it will also say “Active 1m ago.” To help people with anxiety like mine, make it so if they just went offline that it says “1 second ago” And should build up as seconds pass. Another thing is that if you’re left on read, if the person leaves you on read, but if they go back online on messenger or Facebook, a notification or reminder that the message was sent should be there, that or if they don’t reply on messenger then keep it there as if they never replied and take it off when they do. This is to stop people from forgetting about things and if people get tired of it then they can turn on “Mute Notifications.” Just some ideas and fixes.
  • This App is horrible.

    By gameviewerrazi
As in the title, this app has a lot of bugs and it lacks many necessary features. I am only using it because it’s it connects me to my Facebook contacts, if it was an independent texting application, i would have never used it. Why when you add someone to a group, they can read every previous message? Why you can’t delete a message that you have sent (deleting it for the other person)? Why going offline (aka turning off chat) still shows you as “active now” but only with the green dot disappearing, so you are basically telling people “Hey, this person doesn’t want to chat with you”? Why does the video call button starts glowing when both you and the other person are opening the chat tab (so i might be reading an old message and the other person would think that i am stalking)? What about the profile picture bug? If someone (me or my friends) changes their Facebook profile picture, it won’t changes in messenger 99% of the times. Also when going to check pictures in an conversation, they might not load or load slowly. What about the “active 1 minute ago”? It appears always except if i turn the internet off in my device. All those previous bugs, “features” and other lack of features make the app just horrible. Hope that you fix those bugs and remove those “features” and add other necessary ones.

The fact that FB Forces me to Download an app to use messenger, which keep in mind was orig. a part of the website itself. All the sudden FaceBook is essentially forcing me to DL the messenger app which in order for it to work, I must give approval to have access to my built in camera and microphone on my iphone available to Facebook at any time they so Choose. I am just spit balling here but that is absolutely ridiculous. My Facebook account entirely will be deleted and not reactivated. There are a handful of ways to still contact through social media. It just seems extremely unnecessary . Mark SuckMyBird can plead the 5th all day. But ultimately, facebook is a corporation. I know my one deactivated account will be a drop In the world wide bucket. But unless it is explained to me why anyone would need to access anything on my phone... to use an app with the essentially the same coding as AOL Instant Messenger. Weird I did not have to grant facebook access to my landline....... read the fine print. Facebook, and the Facebook LTD are bold faced liars and their policies to access my telephone anytime will be denied as well as my vote and liberal who is not man enough to stand up and tell the truth in a supreme court case can keep his poorly programed messenger and even more poorly programmed social media website. Facebooks original idea of connecting people=fantastic. The last 2 years. Adios Facebook!
  • Annoying glitch’s

    By cf_04
I like using Facebook Messenger for group chats and contacting people when I have no other way of contacting them, but there are two annoying glitches that really need to be fixed to regain its once-5-star quality. First, when I open a thread and begin to scroll up to catch up on the conversation or look for something, the page suddenly jumps up all the way to an old part of the conversation and I suddenly have no idea where in the conversation I am. And every time I try to scroll back down to find what I’m looking for, it keeps jumping to random sections of the conversation to the point where I’m not able to find what I’m looking for and give up. This has been happening for 6+ months and still has not been fixed even after several updates. The second glitch that just recently started happening is when I open a thread, within 1-2 seconds glitch sends me back to the list of threads from where I had entered the thread I had chosen. Then, I have to click on the thread again. My conversation is interrupted and it’s disorienting for it to jump like that. Very annoying and I’m amazed that the Facebook developers haven’t caught on to fix these glitches yet. Really hope they get fixed soon because it really reduces the amount that I use and enjoy Facebook Messenger.
  • Stop with the notification setting

    By AlyTriolo
Look, the app does what it’s supposed to do. It’s a platform for contacting my FB friends and it does that just fine. Hence the two stars. However, with every single other app I own, you can opt out of notifications just once and never get asked again. I don’t like unnecessary notifications clogging up my phone all day long. I don’t want messenger notifications. EVERY TIME I log into the app, a pop up reminder comes up reminding me that my notifications are off and prompting me to turn them on. Even when I dismiss this alert, there’s a notification (little red circle with a number one in it) next to my photo on the app that is also a reminder to turn on my notifications. The red circle never goes away. And now just this week I’ve started getting an alert in red at the top of my messenger inbox letting me know that my notifications are not on. I find all of this very annoying and over the top. This issue in and of itself makes me want to delete the app. If I don’t want notifications then leave me alone! Why is it so important to this app that it’s forcing me to get notifications? Someone turn this off for goodness sakes.
  • This is great

    By Tamari j Clem
Messenger is great there is no problem with seeing other people online I love that feature. I can see other people that are on, and that is convenient at late night when I can’t sleep, but want to talk. I can see who’s up and not bother anyone. back in the old days (I know, I’m old) they would ring at our house if we were eating dinner, my daddy said you don’t answer the phone call them back. You don’t have to answer the call! Just like when you go on messenger you see other people on line, YOU DONT HAVE TO TALK TO THEM ALL! They don’t want to have to talk to you either they’re on there just talking to the people they want, just like yourself. It’s great to see who’s up late at night when I can’t sleep. You don’t have to talk to people just because they’re online you can see them, and that is a convenience that doesn’t mean you have to talk to them all. that’s your own problem if you think you do.I love messenger it’s great! This feature of seeing other people on line is great!
  • Messenger is crap

    By nizdawiz
I’m giving it a one star because I can’t get rid of zero stars. This messenger app is very faulty all it does is crash and go out when you try to touch screen the app you have to hit it about five or six times and then it will finally Connect but even when it does connect before you can even look at the messages you have it will just go out again no warning just goes out I have tried all types of troubleshooting including deleting the app and then download it again deleting and downloading again over and over Facebook makes it so you have to use messenger otherwise you can’t get any messages or send any messages to anybody you would think the least they can do is make sure that this app does I have all these glitches in them. I’m really disgusted with it I hope they fix the darn thing otherwise a lot of people are going to be just dropping off of Facebook like flies because this really does bite the big one. It is very very frustrating hopefully other people are having the problem will write a review as well then maybe will get something done I’ve already been on several forums and they all are complaining about the same thing
  • NO STARS (I had to rate it to post it but I would have given it no stars!)

    By Zander_Wolf3
THIS APP IS TERRIBLE...THERE IS A HUGE VOLUME PROBLEM - Like when one of my friends is too loud I try to turn it down but it won’t let says its at its “max” lowest volume - or when I can’t hear one! It says it’s at its “max” highest volume - also WHATS UP WITH ONLY BEING ABLE TO SEE HE TEXTS FROM 2016 - When I was scrolling up and looking for a fight me and my friend got into to re-read it so I could understand why we even got into it I ran into a problem - the dumb thing wouldn’t let me see the fight because it was “too long ago,” and then I had to get on my desktop (WHICH RUNS SO SLOW A SLOTH COULD BEAT IT IN A RACE) and I had to google what to do and ran into something that I didn’t understand while reading what to do so I had to google that too! FIX IT - and another thing! When I was chatting with my friends on the face thing (4 friends who hate me now! Thanks a lot!) the thing just hung up! And wouldn’t let me call them back! And now they think I HUNG UP ON PURPOSE!! And they still AREN'T TALKING TO ME AFTER 3 MONTHS OF MY STUPID THING HANGING UP ON THEM! FIX IT NOW - PLEASE PEOPLE I ADVISE YOU NEVER GET THIS APP And last thing to say to the creators - FIX IT NOW
