App Reviews

  • Very frustrated with the latest versions of this app

    By KenInUtah
As a United 1K flier, I use this app...A LOT. Up until the most recent version, I have been relatively satisfied with it. However, the newer versions (including this one) have been completely logging me out of my account after a certain period of time. I have to re enter my account number and password and re-enable TouchID. In previous versions, I only had to do this once and then TouchID was all I needed to access my personal data. The amount of time seems to vary. However, it stay logged in long enough to complete a travel day, but if I for get to log in before I board, it add an extra amount of time to get to my boarding pass. I think they are trying to be more secure which I appreciate, but there needs to be a better balance. Before, once you logged in, your Itineraries, Club and status cards were always visible. TouchID was needed to access your actual account details. I’m sure they are trying to restrict access to all personal information so my suggestion would be to log in once, and use Touch ID to be able to see boarding passes and itineraries and personal data. The visibility of this information could time out after some pre determined period, but you would only need TouchID (or FaceID) to re access-not a complete login.
  • First Class Experience is inconsistent.

    By NolaTraveler74
I fly Delta almost as much as I fly United and usually purchase a first class ticket. I find Delta’s consistency of quality and comfort to be much greater. I would say about 2/3rds of the time the first class cabin flight attendants are not as attentive during the boarding process with hanging the passengers coats as well as offering a drink. In addition the snack passes are usually limited to once or maybe twice. In contrast my Delta first class cabin experiences consistently leave me very satisfied. If I’m wearing a suit, my coat is offered to be hung as I’m sitting down. A drink is offered during the boarding process and there are more than enough snack passes. Needles to say I have never encountered a rude 1st class cabin attendant. That hasn’t been the case on my United flights near as consistently. The majority of my United business is travel west of the Mississippi and my Delta travel is mostly to all destinations east of the Mississippi. If Delta had directs to Houston from New Orleans, I would most likely choose Delta over United. I sincerely hope this helps as I will be a Platinum customer in 3 and 1/2 more segments(so about 2 weeks and would love to experience an increase in the consistency of my “first class” cabin experiences moving forward. Thanks, Sean Wells

On my trip from Cleveland, Ohio to Denver, on Thursday Sept 27, there was a medical emergency of a passenger seated right in front of me. Being an ER Nurse I asked if they needed help and alerted the flight crew. Within seconds the crew sprung into their emergency action plan and brought Oxygen, their flight emergency medical kit, blood pressure kit, juice and blankets and a glucometer. They were professional, well prepared and very compassionate to the man’s family. They were in constant conversation with the pilot, air control and ground paramedics. And were updating these personal with any change in condition of the passenger. Anything I asked for to assist the ill passenger, they jumped to get. Another medical professional assisted with the passengers care. This was a medical emergency that United Airlines President should be notified that the airline crew did an outstanding job caring for the ill passenger, care givers and other passengers. He should be very proud! Excellent service Julie, (I believe the head stewardess’s name) and all crew members. The passenger stabilized and we were able to continue on to Denver. We had the passenger under continued observation until the paramedics came on board to relieve us. Great job United Airlines Crew!
  • Worst airline app ever

    By Bernadette Minton
Have tried to add reservation multiple times ... keeps disappearing. On first opportunity I said “don’t add to travel wallet” - as it’s my first time using the app and I had no idea what the travel while was. I thought they might be referring to Apple wallet, which I’ve had bad experience with in the past, and so do not use for flight information. Ever since then, no matter what I do, turn travel wallet saving on off etc., whenever I add that reservation, it appears for short time on home screen then disappears. If an app can’t manage my reservations - no other features really matter. Recommend that they study behavior of Alaska Airlines app - that is a really really good airline app!! Also adding more u-ex designers who have empathy for “the common person” and can conduct usability research would go a long way. Next I clicked on the “support” link in the App Store - so I could report this bug so they could fix it ... and I was taken to a marketing page telling me about the app’s features ... a non mobile optimized page ... hard to read on my phone :-) ... with no place to report a bug. I’m sure United does not mean to convey the message that their marketing materials are a higher priority than receiving customer feedback about bugs ... but the current approach is in danger of customers receiving that message ...
  • Yoluu get more entertainment from reading this review than by using this app!

    By Atomik81
Tried using the in flight entertainment on my IPhone on two separate trips to no avail. I’m an IT Engineer with a PhD in computer science so I’d like to think I know a few things about making stuff work however I tried almost the entire flight to make the movies play. I finally asked the flight attendants what the secret was and neither of them knew. One checked the system to make sure it was on and then came back to tell me that someone in first class had it working on their iPad. Well congratulations to them up in first class! Maybe that’s the secret us regular passengers back in coach would like to be entertained as well. I travel weekly for my job and all my apps and devices are all fully updated so I’m thinking this is just a crappy app/system. The trailers play without issue just to tease you about the fantastic movie you are about to watch but then like a kid who’s parent tells them “no you can’t have that ice cream” all your hopes and dreams are shattered into a million pieces. My recommendation for the best results with this app: Delete it and fly on American instead where the planes are newer and their stuff works as it should, Otherwise the only entertainment you are going to get is spending your whole flight trying to get this app to load your movie.
  • Will never fly United again!!

    By Traveling NS
The lack of service I experienced in Little Rock AR was incredible. The young lady at the counter refused to assist me in checking in - I had time to make my plane but she had a poor attitude. I did not get boarding passes on my phone and needed her help. She literally took more time than needed with tying a bag tag and looking at her nails. Finally she changed my flights. Now after waiting 2 hours I go to board and the ticket agent accused me of trying to sneak a bag on with my husband. The gentleman beside me was not my husband. We had a small bag and she said “we are NOT other airlines and YOU only bought an Economy ticket!”. I explained to her that I was bumped and had to make my connection - she said “You were not bumped - you missed your flight - I heard all about you”. You need to get on the plane you are holding people up”. Actually the delay was that they could not find a crew to fly as the scheduled crew legally didn’t rest. Finally she took my bag after charging me $55 and tagged it - threw it on the floor and said “Pick it up in Phoenix”. The flight attendants were rude also - I asked a question and one asked “ What?! And rolled her eyes. I felt like I was in a bad SNL skit. To be fair, the team in Houston was professional and polite. Still, I can’t and won’t do this again. Also complained online but no response.
  • An awesome time saver!

    By pltandy
Access to my ‘ticket’ and flight information is so quickly is awesome! Wow, I remember having to go down to a ticket office(30 min) and spend an hour having someone else tell what they thought my flight options were (60min) and then having to print a ticket and keep up with it(never) and then strategically place the ticket where I can present it to 4 different people so I can make it through the airport including checking in for flight (60min+) then security, gate agent, and flight attendant all while stopping to check the board for which gate (15min) and any updates and heaven forbid I have a connecting flight and another flight coupon! Only complaint is I seem to have to closedown the app to get it to update added reservations - even if I made the reservation with the app. But maybe that is because I have gotten so used to having the information right away! It actually seems like the app, through notifications, gets the updated flight information quicker than the gate agents and flight crews! Makes me feel like a seasoned traveler - Well Done! Keep those updates coming.
  • Good App - Terrible Company

    By ADT fan in distress
What goodness does an app add if the “state of the art” Entertainment technology is useless when the plane WiFi does not work? Many upset customers, Bose and iPhones ready, asked the attendants if this was common. “It happens all the time”. Coast-to-Coast without Entertainment. What good is it to be able to “manage” your miles when United uses de PQM miles scam to credit miles (got less than 30% of my true miles credited, it will take me years to build enough miles to get a domestic free ticket)? But it won’t happen because I avoid United with passion and even cancelled their credit card. What’s the point? My problem with United is United, not the app. United has forgotten its customer focus and to reward loyalty. Forget even the flying experience, just take a European carrier and compare. United apps would be really useful if they were built on a platform of customer service, clearly what United is not about anymore. So I avoid United at all costs, gone to better carriers with more inferior apps.
  • Disappointing 1st flight in years!

    By United passenger NC
I haven’t flown in 15 years, so I decided to take United after hearing good things about them. My experience was less than enjoyable. After deplaning in Houston and being unfamiliar with airport, I discovered my my next flight was leaving from a gate clear across the airport, so rushing through to arrive at my gate on time, I discovered the plane was delayed for over an hour due to bad weather in NJ. Then, they call us to board only to find out that there was a problem and we would be delayed another 15 minutes, not a huge deal. However, these delays continued for another 2 1/2 hours! We were given ridiculous excuses, one after the other, without a sincere apology or the truth. Perhaps the airline thought we should all understand and comply without a genuine explanation or compensation. They did allow us to watch a movie for free, but still charged for alcohol. When you have friends or family waiting for you at your final destination and it turns out to be 3:00 am, I think the responsibility lies with United to be sure everything is taken care of before asking passengers to board.
  • Bad experience, good app

    By Natttttt D
I flew United for the first time in a while and I found that, compared to other airline apps, their flight statuses were updated the most frequently/accurately. It told me about delays before the gate clerk even knew. As you could’ve guessed, this unfortunately means that I was on a delayed flight which caused me to miss my connection on the last flight out of Newark for the night. The app let me know right away when my connection took off, preventing the hassle of running to the gate to check, and immediately presented me with options for next steps. It provided the next United flight out of Newark and guaranteed me a seat, while also showing me flights out of nearby airports, like LaGuardia and JFK, in order to more accurately assess options and get to my destination as soon as possible. Thank you so much for alleviating the stress in a tough situation! I’ve never booked a flight using the app, so I cannot speak on that, but my experience was great.
