Using WeChat on your Windows computer is actually very easy but if you are new to this process, you will definitely need to pay attention to the steps listed below. This is because you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We will help you download and install WeChat on your computer in 4 simple steps below:

1: Download an Andriod Software emulator for Windows

The importance of the emulator is that it emulates or immitates an android environment on your computer, making it super easy to install and run android apps from the comfort of your PC without buying a phone that runs android. Who says you cannot enjoy both worlds? To begin, you can download such an emulator app made by too top dogs in the space.
A. Nox App . OR
B. Bluestacks App .
Personally, I recommend the "B" option as Bluestacks is very popular so if you run into any trobles using it, you can find good solutions on Google or Bing (lol).

2: Now Install the Software Emulator on your Windows PC

If you successfully downloaded the Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe, go to your Downloads folder on your computer or anywhere you ususally store downloaded files.
Once you have find it, click it to install the application. It should start the installation process on your PC.
Click Next to accept the EULA License agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application.
If you do the above correctly, the Software will be successfully installed.

3: How to Use WeChat for Windows PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and locate the search bar. Now type WeChat in the search bar and hit Search. You will easily see the app. Click on WeChat application icon. A window of WeChat will open and it will display the app in your Emulator Software. Hit the Install button and your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
Next, you will see the "All Apps" icon.
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the WeChat icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Hope it was not too difficult? If you have any further inquiries, contact me through the "Contact" link at the bottom of this page so I could help You. Have a nice day!

App Reviews

  • Worst social media app

This is the worst social media app that I have ever used. The whole app was designed to be used on only one device. There is no sync between the iPhone version and the iPad app. If a chat message is downloaded to the iPad, you will not be able to see it on the iPhone, even if you have not read the message on the iPad. This forces users to use the app on one device only. The interface is also poorly designed and not intuitive. For example, some settings can only be found by digging deep into several layers of submenus; “Pulling down” is almost the universal gesture for updating in other apps, but in this app it brings up “mini-programs;” it is extremely hard to use your existing Wechat account on a new phone: first you have to go through a lengthy verification process, which often does not work because the North American server seems to go down all the time. Then you have to manually copy all the content from one phone to another, because there is no sync feature. The option to do this is hidden in a deep submenu. Many users do not how to do this, and they are forced to start over by creating a new user name and let go of their chat history.
  • Long way to being international

WeChat and this app is really only a Chinese thing. They have made some attempts to make functions in other languages, like English, but way too many times you end up with only Chinese characters communicating to you. You would think they tested this but apparently not. Good example is your their feedback function, only Chinese. So no help to non-Chinese! Many functions send you to third party sites that’s only in Chinese. No translation function for that and no cooperation with third party sites to have a English language selection like all other international websites. Also, what a joke and probably a security issue is they let you register your international credit card and debit card, but afterwards you find out it can’t be used for ANYTHING! You would think they would not let you register if it does not work. I’ve had strangers in China helping me with WeChat who told me it’s not safe to give them this info. WeChat should not allow. WeChat is wonderful if your Chinese but has a long way to go to be an international platform and App. Eventually I hope they get there.
  • Terrible Design

I’ve been sitting here for almost an hour trying to unblock my WeChat account because it’s been inactive for roughly six months. I understand having a two-step verification for increased security, but then I get to a page that requests someone else’s phone number who has a WeChat to verify me as a legitimate user, apparently. I use my account to communicate with a small number of people at home while I travel internationally (cheaper than an international phone plan), so this second phone number business really doesn’t work for all people. Does a chat platform like WeChat really need this level of security? I mean, it’s a chatting app, not encrypted CIA documents or something to truly keep under lock and key. Anyway, I’ve done research and found that it’s nearly impossible to unlock an account once this happens. It’s very frustrating that I’m permanently locked out because of this. I’ve just downloaded WhatsApp and will use that for all of my upcoming travels. Just thought I’d share to prevent anyone else from using such a poorly designed system, too.
  • Great improvements since I originally downloaded

I’ve seen a drastic improvement in the overall app since I began using it 7 months ago. The English version is getting great attention - which I appreciate. I only have one suggestion and hope for a future update. As someone who is still learning Chinese, the in-chat translate option is a dream. As I find myself in multiple group chats for work where all conversation is in Chinese, I use this feature quite a lot. I do find it annoying having to tab across every time to reach this feature as it is the last option. If there was a way to re-arrange the options when selecting a message/text (for example translate would appear first and be the largest icon rather than copy or multi select(which I rarely ever use). Overall great app - hope to see the continuous improvements in the future.
  • Usable, but not world-class

By world-class, I mean a kind of messaging app that is easy and smooth to use. WeChat, for the most part, is usable, plus its voice messaging system is very advanced and convenient. However, on a grander scale, compared to its peers, KakaoTalk and LINE, it just doesn’t stand a chance. To start with, the thing that bothers a lot of people about WeChat is the fact you cannot use its desktop version separately, away from your phone. Every time you try to log into the desktop version, you need to confirm on your phone. This is not needed for either KakaoTalk or LINE. What if I’ve lost my phone and would like to message through my laptop? I hope the developers rethink the concept of keeping a desktop version of this app. Also, appearance-wise, it is rather dull and just not interesting. Its color theme is sort of depressing compared to its peers, and it doesn’t look as “modern”, so I think could be a contributing factor why people will choose KaokaoTalk or LINE over it.

I moved to China to start teaching English 6 months ago. WeChat was something I needed to have in order to find the great position I have now. It allows me to seamlessly communicate with friends and family back home, as well as new friends and colleagues here in China. Messaging, audio, and video chat are almost always clear with little issue, even when communicating halfway across the world. WeChat pay has made my life virtually cashless as I am able to simply pay using the app everywhere. I have also made many friends through sharing WeChat QR codes on the street and being added to groups. I would probably not have had as easy of a transition to working in China without the app and furthermore I wouldn’t have had half as much fun.

  • Blocked

Blocked my account after one day of use, even though I had a valid phone number and only added one friend starting out. From what I’ve read online and talking to others, this is a common occurrence. It’s a shame because I liked this app. I tried contacting support but had no response in a week. All there support forms are broken on there website, so you can’t even fill anything out to try unblocking your account yourself. People who do have accounts are never “verified” by there terms, so they can’t verify your account as another way to unblock. It seems they only have an interest in up-keeping this app for China use, where they are based, so I don’t understand why they are trying to distribute it anywhere else when no one can get accounts nor any help! Never have I seen an app be this disastrous just for a chat app. It’s frustrating and ridiculous.
  • Must press space!?!

WeChat is very good and easy to use, however, when I type a message to my friend, I want to change change a line to make it clearer for my friend to see. But everytime, there's no change line button, at that place, there said send instead of enter (change line). Then, some time later, I figure out that you need to press space until it's end of the line then type. It's very tiring for me and sometimes, one message contains 113 spaces just for changing my line, I was so tired at that time so please replace the send button to a enter button instead. And the send button can be beside the ··· button. Thanks! I hope this change in the future!
  • Horrible social media by Western standards

I guess Chinese people are stuck with this crappy app to communicate. The app utilizes local storage when WE ALL KNOW the CPC is collecting our data anyways!!! Because of this the service won’t sync messages automatically across devices. It also has a confusing and unnavigable interface, and all the users on the platform don’t use their real name or profile picture so you have to memorize random cartoon pictures. The culture is just bizarre on the app and my theory is it’s because people are trying to salvage what little privacy they have. Once you sign up, you cannot delete your account so if you give it out to too many people and have rando’s DMing you then you’re are stuck and can’t just get rid of the account to start a new one. Strange app that you would only get out of government sponsored monopolization.
