This is because you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We will help you download and install Amtrak on your computer in 4 simple steps below:

1: Download an Andriod Software emulator for Windows

The importance of the emulator is that it emulates or immitates an android environment on your computer, making it super easy to install and run android apps from the comfort of your PC without buying a phone that runs android. Who says you cannot enjoy both worlds? To begin, you can download such an emulator app made by too top dogs in the space.
A. Nox App . OR
B. Bluestacks App .
Personally, I recommend the "B" option as Bluestacks is very popular so if you run into any trobles using it, you can find good solutions on Google or Bing (lol).

2: Now Install the Software Emulator on your Windows PC

If you successfully downloaded the Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe, go to your Downloads folder on your computer or anywhere you ususally store downloaded files.
Once you have find it, click it to install the application. It should start the installation process on your PC.
Click Next to accept the EULA License agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application.
If you do the above correctly, the Software will be successfully installed.

3: How to Use Amtrak for Windows PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and locate the search bar. Now type Amtrak in the search bar and hit Search. You will easily see the app. Click on Amtrak application icon. A window of Amtrak will open and it will display the app in your Emulator Software. Hit the Install button and your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.

App Reviews

  • Time Zone bug

    By lgb_ron
I purchased my ticket on the web and was able to open my pass on the app and transfer it to Apple wallet – so far so good. But wallet now thinks the pass is 3 hours earlier than it actually is: the pass displays the correct train departure time (4:56), but shows up on my lock screen with the time as 1:56. I’m in California (and so is the train), so I’m guessing it’s a time zone mismatch – somehow the app coded the pass with Eastern time zone. Not a deal breaker, just a minor annoyance.
  • New update isn't user friendly

    By Dianaka555
I used to use this app all the time and found it very easy to use, I never had issues with it. After the most recent update I can't even log in to my account. It doesn't say if the password is wrong or if I need to make a new one, it simply doesn't do anything. I tried booking a train ride as a guest but it kept changing the date I was booking a trip for and then it would just be unable to load any of the train times to choose from. Hopefully a new update will be able to fix these issues, I'm gonna stick to using the regular website for now though.
  • It should have a badge for expected departure

    By DebDAB123
Given the perennial delays, you should not have open the app, and then click on status to find out updated info about departure. Just like with most apps, you should have a badge on th app that just updates real time and gives you the latest. Oh, and it should allow multi rides on all trips, not just the popular ones. I commute to DC on the northeastern all year long twice a week and at most I can get 2 trips, entering same info over and over again.... Otherwise , does the job...
  • Pleasantly surprised

    By OceanStateOfMind
I never expect public transport apps to be any good but this is surprisingly nice. Searching, booking, and even MODIFYING trips is user friendly. Some annoyances (ex. cant save payment info and the today/ tomorrow button throws me off every time) but these are small in the grand scheme of things. Don’t let the negative comments drive you away. This is very convenient!
  • Overall good but needs some upgrades

    By Aakkjjj
Overall I don’t have issues with this app. It shows my trips and train status just fine. Allows me to add tickets to apple wallet. I wish it would give you track announcements at places like Penn Station when checking train status. That would be a huge help.
  • Time zone issues?

    By RoanokeRebel
For a current trip, notifications are showing 3 hours early: 4:45 departure instead of 7:45 and 2:45 departure instead of 5:45. These are Amtrak (Cascades) 516 and 519, respectively, so entirely in the Pacific time zone. Times would line up if the times were Eastern time adjusted to Pacific time. I can work it out, but I should not have to do so.
  • Wont store credit card

    By EBR26
The only time i want an app to store my credit card number is for here and it wont. When you’re running to catch a train you dont want to have to type in your number every time. The lack of that feature renders this app lousy. Also you cant buy a ticket for an earlier train that is running late. The live train schedule and the app are not synchronized.
  • I would of liked it more if.......

    By Woodeck
I could do everything on the site I needed/wanted, but the most important thing I needed was how to pay with your points! There is absolutely nowhere to put “use points “ or” use points and cash “. It’s either credit card, or no booking! So, it was no booking, and nothing but an information site!
  • Poor quality

    By rbinz
I was looking to book a trip. The app appears to tell me I have two options, train plus bus, or two trains. But gives no info as to where and what time I need to transfer to either, especially when it says my ETA for arrival is 5am by bus or midnight by two trains - why can’t you give me this info. And... what is the difference between Coach - business - car as my price options ?
  • Status is useless since they just keep changing times

    By saleen8927
I only use this app to check when a train will show up and when it will arrive at its destination. It’s just about useless, since it seems to just be guesswork on their end. As the train gets later and later past it’s scheduled arrival, they just up the arrival time a few minutes at a time.
