I found my favorite books from childhood here and found a voice outside of my own to read the words I had once enjoyed so much inside my own head now inside my ear read to me and it gave me a since of childhood once again a sense of innocence that has long ago left me but some how found its way back to me if only for a hour here or there that I thought had long sense been gave me hope that even tho I had grown and now work 13 hour days to provide my kids with a life much better than my own growing up that on my long lonely drives I could once again find the boy that wanted nothing more to drift away into his imagination to escape the horror of his life with a stolen library book read under a stolen flash light hoping not to be caught still existed inside me...even tho now I have a beautiful wife two wonderful kids a house I owned and brand new cars in the drive way to once again have that fleeting moment of childhood freedom spring up inside me if only for a moment was such a wonderful in sort I think I love this app more than any on my phone or tv or Xbox for that matter and as I have only got 1 of the 50 books from my childhood I can only imagine how much my fondness will grow in the coming if I may say so get it and thank me later....
  • Amy is my Idol

As a person with a 5 year old mechanical aortic valve who has now been told I have patient prosthetic mismatch which means basically the surgeon put a valve in my heart that is much too small for my body, I too have spent the last 5 years as a “sick girl”. Facing another surgery, I have been defiant and unwilling to go through with it. I am also the mother to one son, now 24 and have a loving husband and family and have a full life. But I will say, that with this book and her new book, Amy Silverstein, saved my life. Knowing her story, which she so artfully and beautifully conveys, has pushed me to have a change of “heart” and pull myself out of my self pity cocoon to actively pursue the life saving surgery that I need. So thank you Amy from the bottom of my heart. My family and friends thank you as well for writing your amazing books and sharing your struggles. I’m sure you had many reasons for writing the books, and maybe saving other peoples lives was one of your motivations. But if it was not, it is at the very least, a small miracle in my case. For any person facing any type of medical issue, and even if you’re not, this book and bring you a great amount of inspiration. I have convinced many people to read it who feel as I do.
  • Better and better- not perfect

    By jsbow-long
This app gets better and better but it isn't perfect. The app has great features and a few clunky ones. More good ones than it used to have. They are being improved over time. All in all, I'm happy with my experience. I can return books I didn't like if they are returned within 6 months. I don't read (listen to) them that quickly. I buy faster than I listen to them. Some times I finish them and the "finished" indication doesn't stay associated with the book through app revisions. Not Cool! The stories included in the titles are often well done but some presentations need serious rework - not many - but the choice for presenter could sometimes be improved. I've listened to a couple dozen different presenters by now ( a couple hundred books ). If those that were "flat" could be trained or replaced with more skilled people a lot of the stories would be better but, sometimes the story is the problem and that is a shame. It becomes easier to tell the difference between problems in story and presentation as you hear more of each. The short samples offered before you buy are most helpful ( at least to me ) only after my ear has become trained by listening to a goodly number of books by many presenters.

Well-worth investment in reading or listening. One of the most articulate modern authors I have read with a command of the English language in its simplest and most complex forms. All the chosen language has a point, a reason for its existence. So many authors these days seem to rely on a thesaurus to find or establish their brilliance. Kingsolver, on the other hand, has true command of her words. She also is especially adept at showing the viewpoints of multiple factions of society, and the reasonableness of the reactions of each, as well as the ability of everyone to learn from their experience regardless of perceived status, background or education. Kingsolver has the perfect speaking voice for delivering this novel and is a pleasure to hear. Exceptional use of her voice for each of her characters presented. As good as the whole book was, I found the next to last chapter somewhat disappointing in that it seems she chose to exaggerate her point to make her point, and with her ability to masterfully make her point with understated elegance, this chapter seems somewhat out of place. That being said, an excellent read or listen for anyone regardless of political or social belief
  • Fix the issues gang

    By MJsUpNorth
I’ve used Audible for years. I average 3-4 books a month through your site. That said, not only are some of the strange kinks still there years later (why can’t I buy the book in the app - you can make purchases in every other app I’ve ever used!!!) — there are also many new issues. My books keep stopping randomly - but they are still playing, you just can’t hear anything). The only thing that fixes this when it happens is completely shutting down the phone - simply shutting down the app doesn’t work. I’ve had to shut my phone down three times today!! I feel that for the amount I pay for this service this app should be flawless. You’re not new here - you’ve had time to address customer feedback. Do it — you won’t always be the only app in town... and if these issues remain, I’ll be forced to spend my hard-earned $$ elsewhere. Come on Audible - I’ve been you’re biggest fan!!! Stop disappointing me!! PS - People for the love of everything holy, STOP REVIEWING BOOKS in the AppStore. Audible provides an appropriate place to do this in the app / on the site. This is a place to review THE APP - NOT the latest bestseller that “really made you think!”
  • Good and true and beautiful

    By @Frost
A wonderful book! It shows how God leads those who choose to exercise a grain of faith to Joy. With a commitment to truth, both the truth in reason and the truth in personal experience woven together, the seeker of happiness can find it amidst the suffering and sorrow of every human life. It is interesting that for both Andrew Klavan and C.S. Lewis it was Joy that served as the final witness to them of God, Christ, and their intimate role of the life of mankind. This is one thing that Jordan Peterson does not quite understand yet. In the words of a Book of Mormon prophet “Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy” (2 Nephi 2:25). This joy exists even in the sorrows of life, right in the thick of them. Even when you feel that you might be crushed under the weight of the hurt and the sadness, this joy buoys up the soul until your head is above water again. It comes by choosing to exercise a little faith and from patterning your life, as best though imperfect as you can, after Christ’s. Another Book of Mormon prophet called this “[living] after the manner of happiness” (2 Nephi 5:27). I also have found that joy to be both available to those who seek it and the great evidence of the personal, loving God who bestows it.
  • Disappointed with App Change

    By Javier rover
I’ve been an avid member for I’m thinking at least a decade and I just discovered that you have removed all my reading statistics and levels of accomplishment in the app. Naturally I won’t quit but I loved that aspect of the app and it gave me a continued sense of achievement and accomplishment. Please return this feature it means so much to me or show or tell me where you moved it to. Thanks for listening. I have now discovered that my review above is not exactly correct the statistics are still there. However, because I had two accounts, recently consolidated into one the one I have remaining shows me as having achieved scholar while in fact I have long since passed Master level. That bothers me greatly. May seem a small issue to but not I. Also, what’s the level above Master as when your records are updated I will surpass that easily. Even if you don’t make the update I will still obliterate Master level and there must be others. Anyway once I hear from you I will update to 5 stars. Finally, I wish you would find a way where I can find and purchase books inside the App if apple don’t like it so what, just buy them out and make a better policy.
  • Audible 3.0.1 Is Broken.

    By MikeRxer
Currently, the Audible app for iOS is having some serious issues. The iPhone app chapters feature is broken in that one “chapter” contains 3-6 chapters of a book making it hard to find your place. This most recent Audible app update, 3.0.1, was released to include the Apple Watch. This added watch feature has issues as well, including books (more than sometimes) not loading on the watch (before you take “issue,” I checked prior to loading the book; I had plenty of available space on the watch for the book and I DID have the Apple Watch on its charger). When a book DOES load, the loading process is extremely slow to the Apple Watch. I suspect that the transfer process is using Bluetooth instead of/rather than WiFi. WiFi is much faster than Bluetooth. You should make the default transfer process happen over the Apple Watch’s WiFi. AND, (after loading a book with the above difficulty), the “WisperSync” feature is broken in that the place in the book on Apple Watch diverges from the place in the book on the iPhone (Apple Watch Series 3 with watchOS 5.0.1 and iPhone XS with iOS 12). I currently use the above iPhone to listen to my current book, “The Fallen” by David Baldacci even with the chapter issue (above). I Do Not use the Apple Watch app in its current broken state. Thanks for Listening! (Pun Is Intended)
  • The best thing since sliced bread

    By Riley Simmons
Audible has revolutionized my reading game. Two years ago, I read maybe a handful of books. Now, I’m listening to more than 2 books a month! I honestly don’t have the patience or time to read. Like most millennials or those with mild forms of ADHD, I’m easily distracted and have too many things to do at once, but audible solves that problem by letting me do whatever I want such as cook/clean/drive while listening to a book. Whether I want to learn or be entertained, I can do so with audible. I was hesistant at first about paying a subscription to listen to books and thought it was cheating myself from reading and learning new information and words but it has actually enhanced my life in many ways. I’ve discovered many things through stories and found that the genre I enjoy most are autobiographies spoken by the authors themselves (like Bryan Cranston’s A Life in Parts as well as Mosher Kasher’s Kasher in The Rye and Tina Fey’s Bossypants). Give audible a chance! It’s free for the first month and you won’t regret it!!! (you might even be me! :)) A great app to catch up on your neverending booklist and a great avenue to learn!
  • Rediscovering how much I love books

    By Franceneedingmusic
Stories were meant to be told right? Then because people wrote them down and distributed them in written form so we could read everyone’s story... which was great because authors took more time to think about all the details before they were published, and the stories got better. But then technology was invented for us to be able to record audio and playback what had been written... just as if the author were telling us a story in real-time time...but it didn’t take off because tape players were as obnoxious to manipulate as cheaply-made zippers. And CD players didn’t fit in our pockets. Then smartphones came but all of my generation still thought audiobooks were lame because they used to be. Then my wife got on Audible and I was slightly jealous of her beginning to enjoy washing the dishes while listening to fantastic books and laughing out loud from the kitchen. But once she shared her subscription and I realized that having high quality audio productions of all kinds of literature that I can easily index and control from the smartphone that I already have in my pocket is very nice indeed. Vive good books!
