  • Lots of Good Info, Bad Points System....

    By BeaEarnest
Much to be learned here; and If just rating for that, I’d rate them all 5 stars. But as for administration of the points system, I struggle to give them a 3. The number of points credited seem to depend on various and seemingly unrelated factors. Many days I’ve noticed that more points result if I use the app early in the day or more points the longer duration of time I spend using the app to learn. Not today. Today I have just begun to use Hangman portion under 4 times, but already only get 1 point per try for being correct instead of 2! Often I get interested in subjects so I put in extra time & investigate the many additional links shown. At the start of my putting in the extra effort, I was expectantly pleased to see the points go up as well. After a short number of weeks in realizing that, I began to note a change. Now I see very little, sometimes ‘no’ increase in point status. I did contact them twice about this discrepancy, but their reply was brief and basically stated that this was just the way the app functioned. So I conclude that the app is designed to limit rather than encourage learning. In the final analysis, just appreciate the knowledge for how it can enrich you personally & forget about their so ridiculous scoring system.!!!
  • Advertisement has Changed My Opinion

    By KayeKaye07
I previously rated this app a five star rating. I still give it a five star rating, however, now, every time that I want to look up a word, I not only have pop up adds, but I have to hear the same old advertisements. It is virtually impossible to read and listen to advertisements, so I hope they remove the voice activated advertisements. Other than the adds, it is a great application! I do enjoy the biographies of famous Authors and the opportunity to read quotes or examples of the authors' books and literatures. Especially from the 1800's. A glimpse into the past and how our cultures have evolved, regarding etiquette, and formalities. We have lost our higher standards of Education, especially regarding our English linguistics, vocabulary and composition. People spoke much more eloquently with dignity and their vocabularies were much more broader during the Middle-Ages, for example, playwright and actor William Shakespeare's writings were superb and he was born in 1564 and died during the dawning of the Renaissance period.
  • Cough up 4 bucks for this app, people!!!

    By Prettybirdprettybird
The app I think is so SO sooooo worth 4 bones. I LOVE it and the developers deserve to have this noticed and when u use a free version of an app often and you find it useful and interesting ans enlightening and well designed, it seems to me that paying for the one that costs just a few bucks is only fair to the developers. My philosophy is that when I have established I very much like the free version of any app and use it regularly, that it is a given to pitch in to support the people that made it. But... I dunno if people in this society of ours think much about the actual people behind the app... they dont get past the thought "is it free?". Well, people out there should use free apps all they want as I do, but the ones i use regularly I will upgrade once they become a common go to for me. But that's me.

This is one of the BEST yet it is more than just a DICTIONARY❕THESAURUS❕👍🏾 I am also enjoying playing the Word Games on my iPad. 🙏🏾 This APP have save me $MONEY$ 🎶🎶🎶 I have been using this APP for a while on my Galaxy S2 phone when I was out shopping to identify ingredients in products like lotions & creams so I can avoid INGREDIENTS that give me rashes. 🙏🏾 Use this APP to define words in the Holy Bible! If You want to know who will not go to HEAVEN, look up the definition of the list that is in 1 CORINTHIANS 9:10-11 & also REVELATION 21:8. To go to Heaven You must BELIEVE in your Heart in the Lord JESUS CHRIST the ONE & ONLY SON of the TRUE & LIVING GOD that he has died on the Cross for your SINS as written in the HOLY BIBLE. This App is also good for Bible Study. Sometimes those other versions doesn't translate the KJV correctly. Let God Keep You in Jesus Christ!
  • Forced ads with sound while in seminar

    By ThuNhien
The forced ads popped up. It had sound even the phone in silent mode. Could not skip the apps. Had to wait for 5s. WITH SOUNDS ON IN A SEMINAR. Horrible and embarrassing experience. Thefreedictionary is always my favorite website to looks up words. I was so happy when I could use this app. Until this terrible accident happened. I only want to look up vocabulary. You can show ads but without sound please! Don't you think people only use this app in their free time, not work time? SO DISAPPOINTED! Updated: Thanks for the quick response. I will keep an eye on this later and send you more information if I happen to come across same problem again. New update: The audio ads has been found and removed! Great job and prompt action!
  • A huge thanks!

    By t.fantom
I do feel sorry for not having the ability to give as much appreciation and attention to this app as I would like. I look forward to using Dictionary everyday and find myself rather down when I don’t have internet access. Yes, it advertises offline availability, though unfortunately, I’ve never been able to utilize it for some reason it just won’t load for me. Aside from that, When I am able to use Dictionary, I’m on it sometimes for hours at a time, or I have it open in my recently used apps line up to be referenced, toggling back and forth when I need it. So again, many thanks to it’s developers.
  • First Day

    By vickysecrets993
Already appreciating the ease this app allows for connections and understanding to be throughly investigated with a full comprehension of events, places and people. I registered soon after I realized I had gone down a rabbit hole of clicks. The depth of available information was enough for me to sign up. Upon registering you're able to create a profile of yourself while not only saving, sharing and learning content but also by gaining badges and attributing meals for children in schools, a creative an innovative Knowledge is Power program. I'm eager and excited to not only contribute to the school meals program by not just my free registration however my thirst for knowledge.
  • Hopeful

    By Crazie!
I enjoy The word of the day! It's always helpful to learn new words! Most of the time when I plug-in a word it will give me a few synonyms. Would appreciate if there were more synonyms listed for us. Many of the words haven't given me a definition though? It would be nice if there were more explanations of how to use the words in sentences. Thank you for this app – next time I'll give it five stars if the problems are rectified😊 This is the 6th Dictionary I have tried. Think I just found my favorite. Thank you to all of the team who started this app and are still working on it! Keep it coming – it really is a great reference resource🌟👍🏽🌟
  • An excellent app for definition, origin, and regional usage

    By Gringorgulloso
The app provides the various regions where a word is used. The app seems to draw definitions from various sources so one gets a better understanding of a particular word and how it should be used. If a certain word can have similar meanings in other disciplines it distinguishes it by indicating that that particular definition comes from a medical dictionary, etc. There is also a translation function that tells you the Spanish counterpart. I’m sure there are other languages available. This proves useful if you happen to be bilingual. The dictionary requires access to the internet. There might be a premium edition that allows one to download various dictionaries on your device. I believe there is a screen that allows one to play various word games to increase one’s vocabulary. There is also of course the standard “Word of the Day”. It’s an excellent app that I find both enjoyable and useful. It’s an app that one must have if one enjoys the origin and etymology of words
  • Ask for feedback but don't try to improve app

    By PeekMeUp
I used to love this app but I'm so tired of being asked for feedback, with no improvement to the app. I have repeatedly requested the ability to bookmark words into customized lists or categories instead of the one list especially if you have hundreds of words bookmarked. This is perfect for people who want to separate medical terms from their favorite words, etc. This would make the app so much better but they obviously don't care enough to develop the app in realistic ways to satisfy the people who use it. I also highly doubt that I'm the only person who has asked for this feature.
