  • Venmo = Easy and Reliable!

I wish PayPal and Venmo were actual real banks because I certainly feel like the financial portion of my life is not complicated at all when using both of their platforms (app & website). I’ve never had an issue even when there was a small bump in the road like when my instant transfers weren’t showing up for example. They took care of it immediately. Any time I’ve ever had to call customer support I am always treated and helped kindly, respectfully, friendly, and patiently. I really couldn’t ask for a better way to manage my funds. I mainly use Venmo and PayPal for both personal and business. My only gripe would be I wish they were a real bank with a brick and mortar! Even better would be to replace institutions such as ::ahem:: it rhymes with Tells Cargo and other banks that seemingly only charge fee after fee even if it’s charging a fee that was their error on top of charging another fee. My real bank experience lately has been an utter nightmare and I am truly grateful to have the option to use Venmo and PayPal whenever possible! Please become a real bank soon! Whatever it takes! I’m sure you would have a line of customers waiting including myself!
  • Just out for money

Boy, would I give Venmo zero stars if I could. Let me start by saying, Is Venmo convenient? Yes But are they only out for themselves, YES. and are there plenty of other apps that can do the same thing?, YES. I recently sent a friend money on Venmo. Unfortunately, I sent this money to the wrong person. I have no way of contacting this person or getting in touch with them to send back the money. I thought the process would be quite easy to receive my money back once I reached out to Venmo, but boy was I wrong. I tried contacting Venmo through chat multiple times and each time they told me they wouldn’t be able to help me. I was certainly not going to give up that money just because they “couldn’t do anything for me”. I reached out to my bank and they were able to get me my money back after a couple of days. I was very happy until I received a message from Venmo stating that my bank was not authorizing the payment and that Venmo was going to “have my back” and loan me the money, this had essentially put me in debt with Venmo. Now, any money that I receive will go straight to them. This is absurd! I reached out to Venmo once again to explain to them the situation and they again told me that they could not do anything for me. Venmo is only out to make money off of their users. They will absolutely not have any sympathy or help you if there is any kind of mix up. STAY AWAY!
  • Much easier to use than writing a paper check.

Very easy to use money transferred instantly. Much easier than writing a traditional check. I believe Venmo is also PayPal. I took away one star due to privacy. When you sign up it automatically uploads all of your contacts in your phone without warning. It also connects to social media like Facebook. Once you've registered you can change these privacy settings, so be aware to go to settings immediately if you don't want all of your contacts who use Venmo to see your transactions. Also for each transaction you can select if you'd like your friends, the public to see Who you've paid, minus the amount. You can also set each transaction to private. Personally, I don't understand why it's anyone else's business who you pay for what kind of service. It's a Bizzarre concept to me, but then I don't live my life through social media. I am only using Venmo as a form of payment, like cleaning services. Still, it's easy to use and convenient. Just make sure to check Settings before you start transactions unless you want all of your friends, Family and coworkers to know what you're up to.
  • My funds are being held....

Someone sent me $2,000 via Venmo b/c she uses it all the time & likes the convenience. I downloaded the app and signed up. She transferred the funds & i thought everything was great. I attempted to transfer for the money to my checking account but couldn’t. I paid a friend $300 that worked fine. I then tried to transfer $800 using the standard feature of 1-3 business days. The funds never arrived in my checking account & I was notified my account was frozen. I’ve called & chatted with the support team to no avail. I was emailed a request to send a copy of my drivers license and I did. I asked the sender to look into this with me. She was asked to send in her drivers license and she did. She received an email that her account was cleared. I have not received the requested $800 transfer that’s sitting in limbo & I’m not able to transfer the remaining $900 from my Venmo account and no one is Abe to tell me anything! All I’m getting is the Bailey person (account specialist) was reviewing my account & would email me. It’s 6 days later & still nothing!!! I understand verifying a large amount but really...I’ve called, the sender called & a copy of our drivers license was sent it!!!! What is the issue?! I’ve never tried Venmo b/4 this & once my money is released i never will again!!!! I need help!
  • Instant transfer fails!

When I first downloaded and added the app I didn't have any problems. So I had my family download the app too. Then all of a sudden my instant transfer option was not working. The only option that would work is the standard 3 business day option. I called my bank and they said it wasn't them because Venmo didn't even attempt the transfer. When I contacted Venmo they had no idea why it was happening, they actually said that! Then they said that it does happen at random and I was the lucky one! Then they told me the only way I could transfer to my bank was by using the standard 3 day option. This is ridiculous! I only downloaded this app because of the instant transfer option. My KIDS were out of town and I needed to get funds to them immediately. Once again Venmo FAILED and couldn't make the transfer...only showing "Sorry your transfer did not go through". I tried to test it out and by sending someone else funds and it was all a hit or miss! One said he could transfer then of course could NOT. Either way my kids did not get their funds when they needed it!!! I had to drive 2 hours right after I had a baby to get it there because Venmo FAILED me again! Only use Venmo if you're not in any rush to see your money in your bank.
  • Basically perfect

I LOVE Venmo, my only complaint is that it can be annoying toggling between two different banks (one checking account with my bank where all my deposits go, the other is an online savings account where I put money aside to pay off loans and other bills). So if I’m using one account for every day payments, it’s a pain to switch to the other account to take money from there. But honestly it’s not that big of a deal overall, especially when this app makes it so quick and easy (and secure) to pay people. I hate owing money, so being able to almost instantly pay someone back is amazing. And I REALLY hate fronting the money for something, and there’s always the friend who is short right now but will get you back later...and you know you’ll never see that money again. Not anymore, it’s insanely simple to pay someone (and to send payment requests to anyone who “forgets” to pay you back right away). As Rihanna widely commanded, pay me what you owe me.
  • DO NOT USE VENMO

    By Melissa_222222222222
Venmo has no security or regard for people’s money or safety. They advertise it as an app to transfer money but they do not let it commonly known to people that it should not be used to pay people for goods/services unless you are a lawyer and read through 25 pages of legal documents. If you get paid through Venmo, then Venmo can reverse the transaction without your approval and not provide any protection. There is no way to file a claim against Venmo and they will reverse your transaction after you think it’s already in your account. They don’t care at all about their users. I know a lot of people who use Venmo to pay people without knowing that it technically violates their terms of use because most people do not read through 25 pages of user terms and since it is owned by PayPal it is very confusing to normal users since you can use PayPal to pay people. Very deceiving and unethical business practices. I recommend people stop using Venmo and letting their friends know that their money is not secure. Venmo does not verify accounts or payments at all, so you cannot trust that you will get your money. I emailed customer service and the CEO but they don’t care and don’t even respond.
  • Venmo Is Great for Musicians!!!

    5
    By TheHeartOfDavid
As a musician and a band director, I'm always on the go, which means that sometimes I forget to bring my checkbook to a gig. Musicians should never be paid late. Their paid to perform, not paid to wait on checks. This app allows you to quickly and seamlessly transfer money back and forth between clients, friends, and family members. I was reluctant at first, preferring to never enter my bank information online. I've been with them for two years now. I've transferred payment many times, and have done so without a single breach in security. Here's the kicker: It's all been free! I wholeheartedly endorse this application, and it has become my primary tool for sending and receiving payment! Keep up the great work, Venmo! Thank you for your updates, thank you for your quick service, and, most of all, thank you for the peace of mind that comes with knowing every payment is fast, secure, and confidential!
  • Safe and Convenient, but one thing...

    By MzKindra
Venmo is just exactly what I need. I don’t carry cash, and the small business owners and services I support only take cash or sometimes don’t have card readers. I recently had a bad experience with a different cash application where $350 dollars was taken and I had to wait a few weeks for it to be refunded. Afterwards, my bank recommended that I discontinue use of that particular app. Venmo is easy to download, user friendly, and most importantly, has proven safe thus far. My only “complaint” is that there is no need for users to see each other’s activity. I wish there was a feature to turn off the ability to see everyone’s activity. Currently, I can prevent others from seeing my activity, but it is a bit annoying seeing and unnecessary for me to know the spending habits of others. Please consider revamping the application with this in mind. Otherwise, great job and keep up the good work. You are appreciated!
  • STAY AWAY!

Recently had the WORST experience ever, customer service department and compliance department and all those in between do NOT communicate internally and causes misinformation to the customer. After trying to send money to a friend for a girls trip to Cuba Venmo held my money up in their compliance department, I followed their processes to provide details but requested that after jumping through all those hoops that they just cancel the transaction once it met compliance requirements. They made me submit itinerary and other personal information to get the transaction out of the compliance department so it could be reversed. Jumped through all of these hoops and they just processed it anyway, against what we had disused (by that time I had just opted to use PayPal instead since it’s easier). Long story short Venmo didn’t cancel the transaction once released from compliance as they said they would. Totally screwed up my finances with the duplicate transaction, and customer service was of NO HELP. My advice - STAY AWAY. Cash app, Paypal, Zelle, etc serve the same function without 1/2 the trouble and WAY better customer service. If I could give ZERO stars I would.
