Using Tumblr on your Windows computer is actually very easy but if you are new to this process, you will definitely need to pay attention to the steps listed below. This is because you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We will help you download and install Tumblr on your computer in 4 simple steps below:

1: Download an Andriod Software emulator for Windows

The importance of the emulator is that it emulates or immitates an android environment on your computer, making it super easy to install and run android apps from the comfort of your PC without buying a phone that runs android. Who says you cannot enjoy both worlds? To begin, you can download such an emulator app made by too top dogs in the space.
A. Nox App . OR
B. Bluestacks App .
Personally, I recommend the "B" option as Bluestacks is very popular so if you run into any trobles using it, you can find good solutions on Google or Bing (lol).

2: Now Install the Software Emulator on your Windows PC

If you successfully downloaded the Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe, go to your Downloads folder on your computer or anywhere you ususally store downloaded files.
Once you have find it, click it to install the application. It should start the installation process on your PC.
Click Next to accept the EULA License agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application.
If you do the above correctly, the Software will be successfully installed.

3: How to Use Tumblr for Windows PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and locate the search bar. Now type Tumblr in the search bar and hit Search. You will easily see the app. Click on Tumblr application icon. A window of Tumblr will open and it will display the app in your Emulator Software. Hit the Install button and your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
Next, you will see the "All Apps" icon.
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the Tumblr icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Hope it was not too difficult? If you have any further inquiries, contact me through the "Contact" link at the bottom of this page so I could help You. Have a nice day!

App Reviews

  • Could run much smoother

I agree with Erin’s post, but that just seems to be how Computers, Software and App companies continue to do business. Every time software, Apps and Operating Systems get the bugs worked out and are running pretty smooth, they have to do an upgrade to change the look and make it a little faster. Apple is a perfect example of this. They have really screwed up this last IOS 11. They are ruining the IPhone. Tumblr seems to have had the same main problems for months. I keep seeing updates, but none of the big bugs are fixed. GIF’s aren’t loading now. When you send a link to a friend through email or messages, it won’t open up because of safe mode, even though they have it turned off. I’ve sent it to myself to check and I get the same thing and I’m positive my safe mode is off. After scrolling down about 50-60 posts, the app starts having problems loading, locking up and gets jerky on scrolling. I hate that my follow list isn’t alphabetically in order like it used to be. Also when I’ve been catching up by being on it for over 30 minutes, it crashes and will not reopen. I’ve tried numerous times with no success. I’ve had to delete the app and reload it. I’ve had to do this several times in the last few months. I feel most of these issues are from trying to have the app do too much at once like Erin mentioned in the last review. Come on Tumblr, make this app reach it’s needed performance and cut out all the other activity.
  • I love Tumblr, but the app version needs so much improvement

Basically the title. Firstly, NOTIFICATIONS. Sometimes I don’t even get them, despite having them turned on both on my phone and within the app. Friends on Tumblr say the same things happen to them. In addition to not being notified, sometimes I AM notified but when I go to the app and click notifications, nothing’s there? My post might have more notes, but I’d have to manually check it myself and refresh my page to find out whether it was a reblog, reply or like. Next is uploading posts. I get that the app is less powerful than a browser so it’s going to take longer, but it takes legit hours for 2 or 3 gifs to post sometimes - if it posts at all. Sometimes it’ll load all the way and then say “error”. Same thing with videos, and as someone who uses tumblr to promote my music, that really bugs me. I always have to use my laptop to share a link. (I would say it’s my WiFi, but it works just fine/quickly on the browser version.) Lastly, formatting. When i try and edit my bio, it almost always jumbles up the words. This only happens on the app, and while it’s not a big deal, it’s definitely somewhat annoying to have to retype everything or just settle for a simple emoji. I love hanging out on Tumblr, especially in comparison to apps like Twitter and stuff, but the app can be a pain to deal with. I hope this stuff gets fixed soon.

It looks aesthetically very nice, the user interface of course is very friendly and efficient, finding generally anything has not been a problem....BUT theres major bugs in the app and it starts for me in the notifications/messages button where if you click on it no matter how long you’ve been on the app it crashes the max times my app has crashed in a row is now 7 and on occasions it goes away but doesn’t for a while. Then the notifications refuse to show you what’s been updated the only way i have been able to is by switching over to my second account then coming back to my original and it finally shows new notifications normally i would have to pray and close the app and hopefully it would show new notifications and not crash. Next we have the messages and people being on it always has the wrong time for when people have been on....someone could literally be making posts but it says they were on 3 hours ago?? Like what’s going on with that. Another problem is with playing a video and if you scroll it can either get stuck playing and it literally continues until you close the app or when you play the video then scroll it just continues playing for a few moments then stops. As far as i know this is the most bugs i’ve gotten recently on this app hopefully the developers see this.
  • Crashed in big time

I have being using tumblr for over a year now and it crashes me in big time. As I clean up on blogs that I follow the number stays on 514 but nothing to click on follow or unfollow and dashboard did not move at all as I tab for the update. Both web and app absolutely failed to move at all. Social media site like tumblr needs to be significantly improved on the platform. I am working very hard on my leisure to develop tumblr society for the world. The system video, photo, and multiple formats are very restrictive. We need tumblr to admit that most of there users are not children in fact very small percentage and so the platform needs to be a whole lot more adult friendly and at the same time more true society interactive social friendly. It is being existing for ten years already right? Please completely redesign and turn your app to be minimum 18 years or older and preferably 21 years and older. It doesn’t make any sense to do what Twitter or Facebook can already do and in other format alright. Seriously, can your team member truly just listen and truly make that difference? Most of your tumblr user don’t mind of paying for subscription, however, all of us care about all the inconvenience. This cannot wait, please make the major redesign and changes at once and not waiting at all. Your teams technology is too outdated, it needs completely overhaul and be five thousand times better and I mean it.

The new updates have added lots of new annoying features such as recommended blogs on specific blogs instead of just on the dashboard (newsflash, if I wanted to follow those blogs I'd go follow them from/because of posts I see on the person I'm already following, it's not like I don't know they exist, I just don't typically want to follow them), non-chronological dashboard even *after* turning off the best stuff first option (this is my biggest pet peeve! If I wanted non-chronological I'd go somewhere else), and if you aren't on for even one day it will have your first five minutes of speed scrolling be "here's what you missed!" etc. posts, even if you've already seen said posts. One of the reasons I hate that is it takes forever to go away and once again non-chronological posts are rather annoying to deal with. The best stuff first is crushing smaller artists and other content creators, leading to dramatic slashes in page activity, which is discouraging people from creating and even affecting some artists' livelihoods. Everyone I've talked to about these features also really dislikes them, especially the non-chronological posts (there's a few posts circulating with tens of thousands of notes about how to turn the best stuff first off, so that should be your biggest hint that people don't want it!!!), so please fix this!
  • Consistent App-Ruining Crashes

If there’s one thing I know to expect from Tumblr, it’s frozen screens and crashes so obnoxious that I’m forced to delete and re-download the app. I’ve been back on this App Store page at least 10 times this year (it’s February of 2018) alone because for some reason Tumblr developers, now even under different ownership (Yahoo, that was a bad move on your part) than when I first began experiencing this bug, never learned how to fix crashes. Don’t get me wrong- I love the Tumblr community that I get to experience. Not the rest of it- the neo-nazis and pedophiles and just plain weird people- but the artists, memes, and others that I like to see on my Tumblr dashboard. But over my years of using Tumblr, my experience with the app itself (and even the webpage to a different extent) has been god-awful, and has only gotten worse. I’m not leaving a one star review because I want to see Tumblr gone, rather far from it. I’m leaving this review in hopes that even anyone beyond some Apple intern who’s bored in their free time on the App Store reviews page sees it, and maybe something clicks in their brain that veteran Tumblr users have been complaining like this for years. Usually we just do it on the app, but since that hasn’t worked yet I’m here to ask: can any of you at Tumblr “Yahoo!” Headquarters read some of these complaints and set about fixing the app? You might even keep your consumers.
  • No Excuse for this App

For one of the most popular social networking sites in the world, and after all this time, and given that most people access it through their phones, you'd think Tumblr would manage to put together a decent app. Alas, their army of nerds has failed. If you follow more than a few active users and only check your account a couple times a day, you have to scroll and scroll and scroll, waiting for each new page to load, to find the specific kind of content you're looking for (say, videos, images, etc.). If the app crashes, you have to spend another five minutes scrolling to get back to your place. It's 2017. How is this still such an issue? There should be some kind of comprehensive, accessible filter that lets you fine-tune your feed. And automatically brings you back to where you had last scrolled? There's not even a reliable workaround: the archive button doesn't exist or the user has to choose a separate app theme or something with that specific function? It's definitely not there by default. And the ads. They're so large. Again, it makes infinite scrolling a chore; a quarter of each scroll is ad space, meaning more pauses for loading and less easily accessible content. I'd happily by a reasonable subscription to disable the ads. Is programming really this impossible?
  • Sadly disappointed in a once amazing app

Tumblr has been a place I’ve come to for years to express myself. It’s somewhat my secret outlet. Having an app available is super convenient and I honestly prefer to use the app versus a desktop. If there wasn’t an app available i probably wouldn’t even use tumblr anymore. It’s extremely annoying when you’re in the middle of using the app and it crashes out of nowhere exiting you out the app. It seems like every time you guys update the app to fix bugs etc. there’s just another bug that’s created. How difficult can it possible be to finally get this right. Don’t update the app if you’re not sure it’s absolutely going to fix the problem. Sometimes posts are missing from my blog or others. I can’t even refresh my notifications without it freezing and me having to exit out he app and enter into the app again just to see new notifications. I can’t even view my drafts on one tab without exiting out my blog, which was one of my favorite features. Now I have to go to settings to view my drafts which is INCONVENIENT! Would be 5 stars if I didn’t have to exit the app 20 times a day just to use it. Using tumblr shouldn’t be a job people. Fix it or you’re going to lose people’s interest in a great website.

I have a constant grey message box at the bottom saying “Hmm...try again?” And that I should log out and back in if it keeps happening. So I log out and back in, and it’ll work...until I leave the app and come back, the it happens again, and it’s a huge pain to have to keep logging back in. Stuff won’t really update while this message box is running. Also, the app is still eating my photo posts. Last time I tried was before this grey-box issue. Two days ago. Also, I do not like my activity notifications stacking. In particular, the reblog ones. I don’t mind the likes being stacked. But I liked clicking on individual reblog to look at tags. Some people communicate via tags. Granted, I could just visit the post itself, but that has become a pain now too - where I used to just be able to view everything I wanted from my activity section, now I have to jump out and hunt the post down through my profile. God forbid I’m not looking for an old post. To be honest, right now it’s hard to double check on feature with that grey message box saying I have to log out and back in constantly. Nothing refreshes. Edit: logging out and back in does nothing for me after all. App currently does nothing for me except show me pop-up notifications (clicking into then shows a “no-post-here” page).
  • Take off the safe mode!!!! 😡😡😡

    By Suoerlilyapplover
I have been using the Tumblr app for over 2 years. I actually was a fan of the major update that happened because I believe it made everything much more organized. Unfortunately I absolutely despise the latest update that moved the safe search to the settings. What's the point?!? The icon in the major update that let you press on it to show unfiltered posts and pictures and not show those posts and pictures was perfect. It was on the side, so it was not in the way of anything and worked perfectly. So why in the world did you get rid of it!?!?! The reason why I'm so mad at this in the first place is because certain things don't show in "safe mode." For example, the search "soft beige", which is not an inappropriate search at all, doesn't let me see any pictures because of this "safe mode." And I can't see any of these pictures by going into setting anyway because for some reason I have to be 18?!?! So you're telling me a 17 year old (my age) can't see pictures of a color because of this safe mode feature?!?!? This wouldn't be a problem if that icon was back. If you don't want to lose users because I know A LOT of other people probably have the same concerns as me. Return safe mode the way it used to be, an icon that you could press. Sincerely, An ex-Tumblr user
