App Reviews

  • Yelp Caters To Small Businesses Rather Than Customers

    By Anthony Digital Media
The app is decently put together and designed, but Yelp itself is a scam. Everytime I write a negative review, they always seem to be taken down. When I write Yelp to clarify why this happened (which btw is INCREDIBLY difficult because they have no direct # to call or email, you have to submit a form which is deeply hidden in their site), they write back and say "your review didn't adhere to our site guidelines." When I ask what about my review didn't conform to their guidelines, they never write back. Once I wrote to them and they wrote back "If you write another review for this company, we'll delete your account." - Some customer service they have lol if you're a small business that pays them, they do whatever they can for you. If you're a customer that was screwed over by said small business, you have no voice. It's almost like they flipped their policies from a few years ago where they catered to the customers and small businesses were getting screwed over. Yelp needs to get their act together or no one's going to keep using them or taking them seriously. There has to be a middle ground compromise. Online reviews can't be so extreme Black & White; either entirely for the customer or entirely for the paying business.

Yelp is amazing! There’s nothing more I would rather do then get the inside scoop on a place I’m about to spend my money! The people have no reason to lie and give bad reviews because it’s not possible to leave more then one and it gives business owners no choice but to listen and take the advice of their patrons and either improve or stay the same and continue to rack up the bad reviews! It also teaches new business owners the do’s and donts of advertising and how they will look foolish if they advertise themselves as something like Disney world only to then be delivering a rinkey dink sleezy carnival like atmosphere with bad costumes and grade d food and drinks with a rude staff that has never watched cartoons and behaves like something you would see on the Jersey Shore MTV. Keep on delivering the truth about our local business YELP! With out you guys there would be a lot of unhappy bloggers and foodies and disappointed children and awkward teenagers looking to find cheap dates and thrills. Family fun nights haven’t been better! Yelp can only get better and better!
  • In response to your honest review...

    By BriNicoleBri
Thank you for reviewing the honest experiences in which terrible customer service was provided. The responses from the owner are unprofessional and leave no reason for anyone to want to visit such environment. I agree with you that this establishment has potential but is in need of a major reality check on how to treat guest, and respond to reviews in the hopes of people returning and sending business. A few of my friends were in Charlotte for a weekend getaway from Nashville. We are very familiar with such environments with similar ambiance. Never have we had an issue with splitting an $80 tab two ways. And let’s be honest, who reads fine print on a menu when you just enter to sit at the bar for a few wine flights a cocktail and an appetizer before visiting another restaurant for dinner? From making comments about how much she disliked making my gin fizz to not visiting us after asking to speak to a manager - a disappointment to say the least. We will never return and nor will our friends or anyone else who receives this type of disrespect.

Yelp is awesome! I worked in the restaurant field for over 15 years. I don’t always judge a book by it’s cover but the reviews do help me to decide whether or not I will try a place out or not. I also enjoy writing reviews for restaurants. I also enjoy the fact that I can simply check an area and see what’s available in the area for delivery, dine in, take out, etc. The pictures also are a big help. I can tel just by looking at a photo whether or not food has been sitting around or is fresh. The reviews also speak for themselves, sometimes but I know that is why you filter ones out. I can tell the difference between a disgruntled employee, whether a customer is just wrong. (Sorry, sometimes they aren’t always right) I am also very understanding that sometimes places just have off days too. Either way, Yelp is extremely helpful in helping me to make a decision on where to eat. It also will help me see exactly how far away it is. There are many great features using the app. Thanks!
  • Dumping Spectrum and getting U-verse TV

    By mr. progressive
It’s been a long time since I’ve been happier with a decision than the one I made to dump Spectrum TV and go with U-verse. Everything that I was unhappy with with Spectrum has been completely made right with U-verse TV. I was getting fed up with an increase in rates every few months, the hundreds of free movies with spectrum was pure crap, The attitude of Spectrum was cold and uncaring from everybody. And I mean everyone! When I Returned the last piece of equipment to Spectrum, I felt so liberated to be done with them that I walked out of there rejoicing! The store manager at AT&T Beverly Boulevard and La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles, whose name,by the way, is Garrett, Was a polished and personable expert in all phases of our discussions. He was right on top of everything, and negotiated a price and a package that’s absolutely unbelievable with the channel selection was that’s about 50% bigger than Spectrum’s! These people really care. Even made about a half a dozen follow-up calls to make sure I was completely happy. They are simply the best

This app is terrible. First, it’s awful that you can’t use the website without being asked every click if you want to download or use the app, so the website is poorly designed and run. Seriously - they ruin your mobile experience by posting ads for their own app! No surprise then that the app is a gateway to those disgusting “Congratulations iPhone user!” Pop up ads that lock your browser down. I would get several a day until I deleted this truly dreadful app, then they stopped for some reason... wonder why? Trip Advisor is a much better site that a) doesn’t require a pop-up laden app, and b) doesn’t blackmail restaurants for good reviews. Delete this app and I guarantee your mobile experience will improve 100%. Also a company that will not allow you to contact them is seriously bad business. I posted a bad review of a bad dining experience, and the restaurant “replied” by posting an advertisement and not addressing any of the issues. I asked Yelp to remove the ad, but they did nothing. Then - surprise! you can’t contact yelp in any way. Most of the “good” reviews for this crappy app are mistaken users trying to post reviews for restaurants and services - not the app itself.
  • A SCAM

    By sweetlysung
Yelp is NOT a fair review app. If you are a small business owner and have ten five star reviews and someone who’s dissatisfied decides to give you a bad review or a one star, YElp will take your great reviews away and post the bad one. They’ll hide your good reviews at the bottom in a barely noticeable place and label it (in gray)as more reviews that aren’t useful or something like that. We have a policy that if for whatever reason you’re not satisfied your services are free but occasionally when a dissatisfied customer writes a nasty review that can destroy your reputation. (Usually not a loyal customer but a first timer) YELP hiding some of your reviews (the great ones) is completely unethical. Their is virtually no customer service or way to reach them as another reviewer said. But after some investigating it appears they want you to advertise on their site. If you do then suddenly your positive reviews show up. How slick is that? Also the fact that they rate the reviewer and give them recognition for the more reviews they write is ridiculous. I tried writing a review once and they said I didn’t have enough credibility because it ways my first review! SCAMMERS Do not trust the reviews. It is not an accurate portrayal of a business.
  • So rude

    By AshleyCharise
Today I visited Theo’s for the first time. I wanted a bacon burger and wasn’t in the mood to go very far, I work downtown so I’ve been to almost every food establishment downtown. As soon as I walked in I saw one cook and one person behind the register they both looked at me and slightly rolled their eyes, the cook went further into the open kitchen area and avoided eye contact and the waiter without greeting me walked past me to serve someone food. I smile at both of them, but did not get a smile in return instead I was ignored until I finally turned around to leave when the waiter barked at me what can I get you with a blank stare on his face. I still ordered my food since I was hungry and in the mood for a burger but after I ordered my bacon burger he slammed the number down on the counter asked if it was for here to go.. he rolled his eyes and said what kind of side..? at that point I kindly told him never mind and gave a small smile he openly rolled his eyes and said “good”. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m in African-American, I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a woman, or if they just have terrible customer service but I will never visit Theo’s again and I truly hope that people don’t support this kind of behavior, I certainly won’t!
  • Needs the ability to let users choose how reviews sort

    By SandyG123
I like the Yelp app for the most part, but I hate the fact that there is no option to choose how the reviews sort on the app like there is on the browser/desktop version. I want to be able to sort the reviews chronologically by date, or by highest/lowest rating, but there is no such capability on the app. Why have this ability on the browser version but not the app version? Especially considering that if you try to do view anything more than a couple of reviews on the browser version on a tablet or phone, it forces you to use the app to read the rest of the reviews (which is also insanely irritating). If Yelp makes this small adjustment to allow users to choose the sort of reviews on the app, they would get a higher rating from me. Not a fan of companies who develop their own “algorithms” for the order of how things display (ahem,Instagram). Let your users at least have the option to choose the sort. Chronological order by date for reviews just makes sense. Some random “Yelp Sort” that I can’t change makes no sense and makes me salty.
  • My husband and I love this gym!

    By LoyaltyDoesn'tMatterToLinkedIn
Something about the atmosphere at Wildwood’s Anytime Fitness location has been instrumental in helping both of us re-commit to a regular work out routine. The 24 hour access is convenient and the facility provides a calm environment, clean and well maintained machines, a large classroom for classes available to you via personalized technology, and (yeah!) clean bathrooms. Large enough to accommodate our work out requirements while remaining small enough so as not to be intimidating. The price is reasonable, they are connected/affiliated with the various insurance incentive programs, and while a tiny thing....they put these amazing quotes on their motivational blackboard wall, that aren’t your typical fluff, but words that make you think and feel inspired. Finally, everyone employed at the facility is a “real” person. They work hard, aren’t “fake” friendly, you aren’t bombarded with someone in your face, but have access to individuals if you want or need support.
