App Reviews

  • Needs some major change for better searching

TO ANYONE FROM EBAY, PLEASE READ. I’ve been using the eBay app for many years and it’s time to make major upgrades as far as searching goes. For example, when you refine your searches you should be able to put options for the seller. Separate companies from legit normal sellers/people. First off, I hate looking at generic stock images of companies selling stuff. Especially when it comes to clothing or car parts. I would rather buy from an actual human with actual pictures of the items. Not companies with 20K or 100K in feedback that can’t even answer your questions or make sure your item is shipped accordingly. They are very unorganized because of traffic. eBay shouldn’t be for companies. Also, there should be an option to choose sellers with 100% positive feedback. Or no more than 3 negative reviews. I don’t want sellers with 10 or more negative reviews. It’s a preference because why would I want someone that hasn’t learned or doesn’t take pride in selling. It’s really not that hard to keep your feedback at 100%. I’m a buying/seller and everybody I’ve dealt with has been really legit simply because I keep it with the trusted ones. But it’s hell when you have to search for hours in order to find these people. I have it a three because other than that it’s fine but this has been a huge hurdle. I’m surprise no one else has thought of changing this.

The main problems that I have experienced have to do with fake accounts or sellers backing out on deals. I have bought items from sellers on multiple occasions and did not receive the item. I have been told that the seller has lost the item on their transport truck, while this seller only sells a few items per month and obviously does not have a huge business that requires a transport vehicle (they listed it for less than they thought). I have been told that a sellers account must have been compromised by a third party making prices too cheap.... etc.. It comes down to poor listing and lying after you realize that you listed something too cheap. This is not the buyers responsibility or problem, if I buy and pay for an item, we are both entering a binding contract to do business. I’m sorry that you may have made a mistake but a deal is a deal so stand by it and don’t make the same mistake again. As a seller, I have encountered similar issues. I have made mistakes in a listing as well. I knew that it was my mistake and I should have caught it, the item sold at a cheap price, I shipped it out with a smile. It’s the same as a handshake to me but apparently not to Ebay customer service because they side with them every time. As a seller, make sure your buyer restrictions are set to on!

It’s a great app very functional. I prefer using this over the desktop I find it more user-friendly plus I’m usually only go I can easily print labels and control my listings. In this age where iPhones And tablets have high-resolution cameras it’s a no-brainer to do everything right inside your iPad or iPhone. However I do think that some of the desktop features can be integrated into this app to make it more useful. Specifically why can I print a label from the global shipping program using the app? why can I offer a second chance offer on the app? and why can’t I deal with my returns and Ebay claims disputes or on the app? It seems like those things should be able to be easily integrated. I also don’t understand why you cannot create a custom listings that contain multiple colors quantities or sizes. I prefer the convenience of the iPad and sometimes frustrated if I have to go back to my office to handle certain things on my desktop seems counterproductive. But all in all the app is excellent just a few suggestions for more hands-on users this application. So I’m giving the app five stars I really can’t knock off the star for things that you don’t have but I would love to see these things added in the future if you are listing Ebay!!!
  • Hate the app update

Ebay has wrecked this app. The easily usable & navigatable app is gone! Ebay has disabled the older version of the app which I really liked and left me with this new version 5.18.0 which I can't stand. There is no user customization anywhere! Now the home page is nothing but suggestions, “deals of the day” & ads, where is my user data? I have saved searches, members & collections which I am not able to set as my home page nor am I able to view anywhere else either. At least on the desktop version I can switch from the home page to the “saved” page but that option doesn’t exist on the app. The “my ebay” page also has no user customization, I would collapse the left hand column while looking at items in my watch, purchased & recently viewed lists, instead the viewing window is only 1/2 the screen while the left hand column just takes up valuable screen space. There are a myriad of other issues I would alter through user customization but I can’t go over all of them here. When Ebay updates their app; give the users, whose sales and purchases finance Ebay, the opportunity to customize their experience. I’ve been an Ebay user for over 16 years and I hope the designers of the Ebay app read these reviews and incorporate the users suggestions into the next round of updates. I won’t be using this app until further updates are made, instead I’ll use the desktop version on my ipad, which is set up with my preferences.
  • NO SELLER PROTECTION!!

Both my fiancé and myself have bought and sold on eBay for years. Within the past year or so, both of us, on separate accounts, have had many buyers buy or win an auction, ignore repeated invoices and requests for payment for weeks on end, finally contact us and ask questions that were answered in the item’s original listing (making it clear they didn’t read the description or look at any of the posted photos), then cancel their order. Or the second the bidding ends, the winning bidder asks a bunch of questions then decides to cancel. This is frustrating for obvious reasons: the bidder had at least a week to ask questions and shouldn’t have bid repeatedly if they weren’t sure they wanted an item. eBay doesn’t seem to care about the fact that when someone submits a bid or offer, they are entering an agreement to pay. Also, eBay counts the cancelled order as part of my seller revenue and automatically charges me for 10% of the sold item’s value... despite the fact that I never received payment for that item. This issue puts sellers at a disadvantage that buyers can do this repeatedly with no consequences. A buyer with repeated no-payment problems should have restrictions/fees placed on their account. Even better, eBay could follow Poshmark’s policy and charge the payment method once an offer is accepted or the auction closes.
  • eBay allows deception

    3
    By Mark Domzalski
Many items have a description in their title and a DIFFERENT description in fine print on the description page that deceptive sellers use to deceive. Also sometimes a photo falsely suggests strongly the size of an item (even though the actual dimensions are on the description page showing actual dimensions much smaller in metric but without a ruler or coin to suggest actual size for polite reference), KNOWING MOST WILL LOOK AT THE PHOTO AND BUY BECAUSE OF IT. This on items they know are copies / counterfeits of the real product in standard size, like a hairbrush I bought which was actually so small I couldn’t hold it to brush with it without it flopping out of my hand over and over. It’s as though they intentionally deceive because they know that NO ONE will return a $2-3 item. Also my eBay app should hold my purchase history INDEFINITELY OR UNTIL >>>I<<< delete it, and not be deleted by the eBay system. If I purchase lots of things it’s very easy to forget or lose track of an item ALREADY PAID FOR THAT I NEVER GOT. ESPECIALLY if eBay deletes my purchase history. It’s MY RECORD. DON’T DELETE IT FOR ME!!! Allow me that option. 😡 in light of what I’ve said, choose carefully and you may do well. There are some very good deals on eBay if you have good judgement and the time for all the hassles too. JD
  • Just a bunch of hacked accounts and fake Chinese sellers

    1
    By Dudeblahhhh
I highly recommend you stop or never start using eBay. It was become a market place of fake sellers, most with Chinese addresses or American addresses that have been hacked. Just recently bought a backpack and received a shipped notice with a tracking number. When the “item” arrived it was a letter saying i would receive it soon and I could track it at USPS. But I never received a new tracking number. When I tried to get a refund from eBay, they required me to wait another 15 days before I could even request a refund. I decided to call eBay customer service and I was on hold for over 30 minutes even though the app said it would be a one minute wait time. When I finally got through to customer service, I had to explain my situation multiple times before they took any action. After all that waiting I was told I the seller had a week to provide a refund, if they failed to do a refund then I would have to call back. Prior to that incident I won an Apple TV from someone in California, after two weeks I never received the item and when I contacted the seller I never received a response. Again eBay forced me to wait another 10 days before I could request a refund. When I finally received a refund, I was not allowed to leave feedback warn others of the fake seller.
  • ebay treats new customers like they are criminals

I started a new personal (not business) account. I sold and shipped an item that is en route. Then I attempted to purchase some tank tops. I have a PayPal account already and decided to link them. The item I sold was a women’s biker riding leather gear. Day 5, when I purchased some tank tops and the gear was in route to the buyer my account was suspended for fraud! I call and am asked where I obtained the things I was selling. My account was reinstated but now the item I sold and the funds still pending are no longer available. The tank tops I ordered have been canceled but the funds are gone from my PayPal account to that vendor with no receipt or proof of sale but an email saying it was cancelled, oh, and I am an accountant so I take screen shots. Why would I be accused of scam and fraud without a call or verification? I have excellent credit and never had a felony or anything!? I have decided I would rather pay more or do without than work with the gestapo. I will be donating the rest of my riding gear and decor I no longer want to goodwill. 2 stars for selling my leathers and making me jump through hoops as if I had to prove I’m legit, instead of verifying people like a normal business would! Unless you are a business ebay is not where you want to sell your personal items.

You have made it so difficult to sell items. Please stop changing things and go back to what everyone loved about eBay. Unfortunately I have been cancelling all my listings as soon as they are about to end. I select NOT to accept offers, you take it upon yourself to change that to accepting offers. Even after I change it back, you change it again. What is the deal?? I try to select my shipping option, you no longer offer it. I have been doing this for many years AND I have an online clothing store so I am very aware of the cost & shipping options yet you keep switching it up & now you’re longer allowing the cheapest way to ship my item. I have a 13 oz package but you’re not offering 1st class on it so I have to choose the priority and end up charging 2-3$ more. How do you think that is gong to benefit you with more sales? I select to NOT relist an item yet you keep relisting. What is the deal? Why offer the options if you’re not going to allow them? I do understand that you’re trying to keep up with the Jones so to speak but Everyone loved ebay for what it was and now you have completely changed it. This is such a shame & I’m sure it’s not just myself that feels this way. I no longer even consider listing with you and have been canceling my current listings as they expire. Just very disappointing
  • Good app, but please fix some things.

    By Purplxd
I like eBay and use it a lot, but a couple things need to be fixed. The shopping cart list: When you click on and item in your list and then reduce it to see the NEXT item, the app returns you ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP of the list again. Very unnerving. Plus, if you want to delete something from your Watch list, it deletes quickly, but if you want to delete something from your Shopping Cart list, it takes forever and makes you want to take a nap between every deletion. In addition to these things, the app will not let me give Feedback, but yet let’s me fill the whole form out before it says that it cannot receive my feedback “right now”. Well, that’s bern going on for over a month, shouldn’t that be fixed by now? Somethings Paypal makes be sign in all over again while trying to go through checkout, otherwise it won’t let me pick a form of payment other than my preferred option. The list of options that is usually there is no longer there. I like seeing the whole list there. Can you app folks please fix these things? Otherwise, 5 stars. If you fix them, I’ll change it to 5 stars.
