  • A Marvel game finally worth YOUR time

    By Spencer103100
I am a long time player of all the marvel games that enter the App Store, I’ve played them all with the exception of puzzle quest. When I heard this game was in the making I was extremely excited because I have played hundreds of hours of Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes. When the game launched I was met with a minor bug that every time I would enter combat, sometimes when a animation was being played my screen would freeze and this issue still persists but it only happens on a blue moon. The game itself is incredible. It managed to capture the magic in SWGoH and exceed my expectations. I believe this game is much better that SWGoH and worth more time than all the other marvel games. I don’t feel like this game is a pay to win because I have put $0 into it and I have most of the top tier character at 3-5 star. This game is not hard to rank up and collect the heroes if you are a free to play player. I have played contest of champions and future fight and I’ve put countless hours of grinding, and gambles into drops and been disappointed time and time again and I felt like I was getting nowhere what so ever. In this game I feel like I can get somewhere. I definitely recommend this to EVERYBODY!
  • Good game, greed frustrating me

    By eternallyNot
Hooked me early on. Enjoyed variety of things to do without overload I felt attempting to play Summoners Souls (?) and the like. Felt like this would require less time. Seems to suffer (my opinion) from the usual issues. Comparing team power suddenly becomes pointless. Your team can have a team power of 2000+ who you are fighting and yet the other team wipes the floor destroying everyone and you are lucky if you take down one of them. Plenty of defenders of this by fanboys, but if certain character abilities, rank, tier level make them much more powerful than the norm, but do not reflect well in the power level. Don’t think that’s is the way things should be personally. Fans will say, you need to play characters A, B, C and can point you to probably Wikis explaining the REAL info. I shouldn’t have to do that. Sorry, just my opinion. And where is the fun in having a huge selection of characters if the solution is just to play a certain few to excel? Balanced teams should be designed such that they have an advantage over stuff like 2 tanks and all brawlers or whatever. Anyway, going to keep playing for fun, just frustrated it gets progressively harder to progress/unlock due to design. Also, can’t prove it, but after early release, really seems the RNG has been nerfed for some.
  • Not a Pay to Win Game

    By C-LosSandcheez
I downloaded this game 2 days after its launch and have been consistently playing every day since. The best thing about it is that this is not a typical pay to win game. I feel like most reviewers who are claiming this lack the patience necessary to excel at this game. I’ve never felt cheated when opening orbs and you gain resources, like gear and stars to strengthen your characters, at a fair rate. Not too fast where there’s no effort needed, but not too slow where it’s a painful grind. The developers have definitely put a lot of time and effort in ensuring that you can pick and choose whatever team you want and actually have a winning chance if you play your cards right. The game is fair and balanced and whenever I lost a match, I never felt like it was the game’s fault. Yes there have been glitches here and there but it never got to a point where it turned me away from this game. The developers are quick to fix them which is greatly appreciated. You guys keep doing your thing! I’d recommend this for any Marvel fan or if you’re a fan of strategic turn based RPGs (Pokemon comes to mind actually). I can’t wait to see what comes next for this game.
  • From a great game to a classic money grabber

    By Tamedstrange69
The game started out great where FTP players can actually progress and keep up, even rise to the top. However with changing metas and new characters coming out often it’s now the opposite. The events are nearly impossible to find enough success to unlock the characters. For example, the Nick Fury event. You have to farm minions, strictly minions, that are trash and spend crazy amounts of time and resources just to prepare for the event. And what’s worse is that Foxnet gives you a chance to buy orbs which will help you rank up the required minions and don’t even guarantee that they will drop. Maybe .01% of the players can unlock him, even less. And Nick Fury will be a meta changing character which those who have him will be on top at every part of the game. It’s quite sad seeing a good game with huge potential end up being no different from any other greedy company, even worse. I was a dedicated player who logged in more than 6 times a day just to complete the daily missions/cooldowns, one of the top in my arena ranking, always one of the top damage dealers in raids in a top 100 alliance, and even achieved top 500 many times for the blitz events, but I couldn’t take it anymore as I saw myself fall behind with each passing day just because I wasn’t willing to give Foxnet undeserved money just to keep up. Feels good to quit, feels bad to have seen the direction this game went.
  • great game

    By TheUltimateAppReviewer
I started this game with pretty high expectations, and it definitely met them for the first couple days. The graphics and mechanics are fun, and the community is relatively friendly. With an abundance of materials, it felt good to speed through the first 20 or so levels, and it felt like the game would continue to give me what I needed to train and gear up my characters. I spent my over 500k amounts of gold and my training materials relatively carelessly, until I hit level 30ish. I ran out of gold and training materials, and in order to equip one piece gear to my same few characters that I started out with, I had to spend all my campaign energy. I found myself frustrated at the game, thinking it was another play to win. But once I got past the roadblock of level 30-38 or so, the game started picking up again, and I was enjoying it more than ever, once I started picking up other characters (there’s no need to pay in this game, I did not, the deals are definitely not worth your money). Like a lot of the other reviews say, this is not your typical pay to win marvel game. I recommend this game to everyone who’s willing to be a little patient for a couple days.
  • Good game, bad company

    By demoore27
The gameplay, graphics, and concept of the game is so much fun. However, the company is only concerned with squeezing every penny out of its fan base, and this directly affects the amount of fun you can actually have. Ready for days and days of not playing the game because you’re trying to farm for new characters and gear with horrendous drop rates? That’s what it takes. And when something goes wrong, the support team gives you canned responses, doesn’t take responsibility, and doesn’t fix the problem. This game could be incredible. Instead, it’s little bits of fun sprinkled into a giant slog of clicking “auto win” on your 15th day of trying to get Captain America until your resources run out and you either have to spend an unreasonable amount of money or go do something else. They tried to charge $100 for a package of five of the worst players in the game. That’s the price of two real, award winning video games! Your customers should spend money because they want to, not because you force them/trick them into doing it. Start caring about and listening to your fan base. It’s possible to make money AND have a fun game for everyone. Improve customer support, and increase drop rates so we can actually play the game. You will make way more money in the long run, and we will be happy. Win/win.
  • NOT a pay-to-win game

    By Amcw1997
TLDR; this game is an excellent turn based style Marvel game. The characters drew me in, and the art style and fun free-to-play gameplay kept me coming back. I’d suggest this game to any fan of Marvel or turn-based strategy in general. First time ever writing a review for a hike on the App Store because I’ve loved this one so much and it’s getting unfair criticism. Being a completely free to play player, I’ve surpassed level 50 (cap is 69 at the moment) and have already collected 34 characters after less than one month of playing. I’ve been able to hold a spot in my arena top 25 without spending money to win. I’ve gotten my chance to unlock the exclusive characters like Black Panther, Black Widow, and Thanos even though I didn’t spend a dime. The majority of the 1* reviews on here are from this new era of gamers who feel they deserve to unlock 100% of the content of the game after a week of playing. My only complaint about the game is that some members of the community are toxic and throw tantrums every time the game is adjusted a tiny amount (and their updates have been excellent thus far).
  • Good but moving down

    By b.o.b.1kenobi
Don’t get me wrong, I like this game. It’s quite a bit of fun and I’ve enjoyed strengthening my characters, getting to know my alliance, etc. However, I’m going to stick to a one star rating for this reason: the devs are bringing the quality down, not up. Many of us players consistently submit support tickets and get on reddit (where the devs do peek and post semi-regularly) to provide feedback. The general idea of desired improvements tends to be the same; a lot of repeated suggestions get thrown around a lot. Very good ideas, for the most part. Free advice to the devs to make their core fan base more happy. Yet, update after update....none of those suggestions are implemented. They’ll take suggested changes and twist them to further enforce needing to pay to get ahead, or ignore the suggestions entirely. Some recent moves have seemed to pretty clearly suggest they want to further separate the rich from the poor. Somewhat backwards, in my opinion. I once felt that I’d eventually spend on the game since I was enjoying it so much...but after all these things keep happening, I’ve decided to remain strictly free-to-play, knowing I’ll never be competitive with the paid players. I’ll continue to enjoy this game, but I can’t support that style of business management with more than a 1-Star review.
  • Playing on a iPhone 7

    By DarkKnightLuigi
Having played this game for a few months now (more than 3) and having dedicated some time to it. I have to admit it is fun in intervals. The monthly updates on unlocking characters for free is basically asking you to at least sign on and nothing more. The game offers events (weekly) to keep you playing but not having to pay for it. The grind is serious and can demand money but I don’t and haven’t paid a cent and have received some great RNG so don’t let their offers pressure you to buy it. It can be addicting but being aware definitely gives you aspect on what you are looking for. It runs smooth and after a patch, there is no load bugs on my model phone (Title explains that). If you are a Marvel fan and follow up on its pop following. This game hits that fix during your 15 min break or traveling on a train. Data usage isn’t serious either unless you trying to play Raids for some reason. Outside of that, if you want more from this game, then please purchase from them so that helps build on Development cost for new content.
  • Enjoyable but Incredibly Expensive Free Download

    By Arky Lawdog
For a free download, it’s really enjoyable at first. The graphics and motion really capture the essence of the characters. You can tell the guys are real fans of the comics. For a short while it’s easy to progress through the ranks, but after a while, it takes an awfully long time to rank up or obtain new characters. That is unless you are willing to pay$$. I understand that they are in business to make money, but Holy Moly! The prices the want for these characters/orbs is unbelievable. I cannot fathom someone would be willing to pay $99 for an extra character and some XP. Sheesh, my first car only cost $200. I don’t see me spending the same amount on a Special Offer just to take a chance on getting the orbs I need to progress, that I could to buy another a game that doesn’t make me spend more money to progress through the game. So I will be patient and miss out on characters and events that they offer but are only achievable by spending an excessive amount of money. Here’s an idea... lower the price of those “Special Offers” to about a buck or two and watch the money roll in as players try to advance all the way through.
