  • Great game - one big annoyance

    By Chrismuscaroler
No, it’s not the ads - unlike a lot of people I don’t hate devs for needing to eat and shelter themselves. This is the second game I’ve played by voodoo, and just like the other one (Dune) this is an awesome, fun, minimalist concept that’s very well-executed and visually appealing - and it lags. I have a 6s, and it can run games that are much more complex quite easily, I don’t understand why this one doesn’t run as well. The lag mostly pops up during the beginning of each round, and it’s rarely enough to actually interrupt gameplay, but it’s always annoying. I would rather have a visually boring game than a pretty game that lags. It’s really a shame I can’t give this 5 stars, because it’s a lot of fun - voodoo definitely knows what I want in a mobile game - but the framerate lag, man. I’ll keep it downloaded and keep checking the patch notes, but at this point it’s more frustrating than fun.

It’s a fun app, I do not deny that. However, it has many adds repeatedly. Also, whenever you loose you can revive and watch more adds. Naturally I clicked this revive button and watched a long add then a second add came after that. I was a little annoyed but then the same revive button popped up and I was confused as I just watched two long adds to revive my player. I clicked the button once more and nothing happened. I was upset for such asinine mistake in the game but I decided to let it go. The next few games however, the same thing had happened. So we, the players, watch a long add to be revived yet it does not happen. This of course takes some of the enjoyable and entertainment out of the game because an add always pops up and you can’t revive the player by watching more adds. Overall it is fun just some minor details are annoying and asinine/inconvenient.
  • It’s eating away at my life

    By Hannah -The Fabulous
This is what I play. This is what I do. All day I play this game. I play all night instead of sleeping. I skip lunch at school so I can sit and play this. My grades are dropping because I don’t do any work. This game is everything I am. I can’t function when a teacher takes my phone because I can’t play this game. Swinging my fire ball is all I think about. I know I should stop but I can’t. This is it. This is my reason for living. I don’t have any other purpose but swinging the fire ball through green rings. Fire rides, you are everything I am. Everything I want. I don’t know what do to without you. I spend every waking moment on this game. Up until 5 am swinging fire balls. Thank you Voodoo.
  • This company as a whole is trash

    By thaesino
There is no doubt that Voodoo makes simple games with addicting mechanics. There is also no doubt that their games seem to only exist in order to sell ads. Seriously. Just stay away. The games (I’ve played three) all have a similar mechanic to them; that is, a mechanic that will make sure you can never really master them because they - Voodoo - need to sell ads. It’s that simple. In this particular game, I was often put into situations impossible to get out of after later levels. By impossible, I mean, even an AI wouldn’t be able to get out unless it had knowledge of the whole path forward. The same happened to me with their Dunes game, which has the strangest mechanic of the ball stopping suddenly.... physics much? All of this in order to make you lose and have to watch 30 second unskippable ads.
  • Good game with issues

    By snam23
tldr: Good addicting game with some issues that stop you from really enjoying it. It’s a fairly fun and unique game. Makes you feel like Spiderman. That said, it takes a few rounds to get used to. This is a problem because the video ads are so frequent but you die really easily really often. Also, there is a LOT of lag when first opening up the game. I think it’s all the ads that are loading. An popup will show up during your first round causing you to die. You try to close it and it does but a few secs later the ad opens the AppStore during your second game. Then when you die, another video ad will play. The skins are creative but don’t do much else. At least they are honest about what they are. However, the skin choosing screen has some issues, where I’m trying to go back to the main screen but it shows a popup saying “come back tomorrow”, one of the unlockable skins. Lastly, the spin wheel for extra coins is kinda lame. I’ve spun twice and got 300 both times. As a dev, I’m wary of random things like this. Regardless, the selection is not very clear, even though it’s at the top like every other spin the wheel you’ve probably seen.
  • Very nice aesthetics

    By ég er íþróttaálfurinn
I downloaded this game because I love how it looks. The aesthetics, the sound effects the colour; I like everything. The only reason why it’s not 5 stars is because when you click the revive option the app can often freeze and you have to shut your device on and off for it to work again. Also if you click “start over” before the revive timer is up, you’ll get a 30 second add every single time you lose. I discovered that you can just wait for the timer to finish and then you won’t get adds. Also there’s often an add at the bottom of the screen that doesn’t necessarily bothers me and I don’t click on it accidentally while playing, but it may to others
  • Paid for no Ads still getting ads

    By Trustywaffle
There is a way to get around the ads if you have paid the $3 fee, just hit anything other than the second chance button between games. The game itself was reasonably fun albeit mindless and $3 wasn’t a big deal. Ads were a big problem right off the bat. Payment got rid of the ad banner at the bottom but I’m still getting the pop ups after a game, it’s faster to quit and reboot the game than sit through the ads. Contacted h8 games customer support on this and they informed me the presence of ads post-payment is a glitch that will be fixed within a few updates. They gave me the instructions I put at the top of the review to get around the glitch. As a result I’ve adjusted my review from 1 star to 3 stars
  • A Few Complaints

    By ThatSynGirl
It’s a beautiful game and it’s a lot of fun, however I’ve died multiple times because if I tap too low on my phone screen, it won’t even register that I’m touching it, so I just plummet to my death. Which is really annoying because that’s where my thumb is comfortable reaching on my screen. Also, the “second chance” option sounds great on paper, but nearly 8/10 times that I’ve used it, once the ads are done and I’m back at my game ready to carry on, I’m in such a weird position and the momentum is already gone, that the second chance is basically pointless because I die a second after I restart. Last point- when I first got the game, I was getting to levels 4 and 5 easily, almost every time. Now as I’ve played more, and even purchased it, I find I can barely even make it to level 3, and often can’t even get far past level 2. It seems like it gets harder from the start the more times you play the game. Other than that stuff, the game is a cool concept and I still somewhat enjoy playing it.
  • GREAT game buuuut…

    By GhoulishFiend
This game is so so fun and addicting and there’s always something calming about Voodoo games which is great, but the only problem I have with it is there will be times where I have a high score but fail and wanna revive so I’ll click revive, the ad comes up, but then AFTER the ad already played it’ll glitch and will just start me over from the beginning and I won’t get to revive. This happens quite often and it’s obviously pretty frustrating when you expect to revive but it just doesn’t happen. Other than that and the occasional lag, this game is super cool and I do highly recommend it.
  • In-app purchase is a lie!! Do not buy!!

    By Switch120
I never write reviews. I also don’t do in-app purchases, but for once I thought “hey why not, this game is fun and $2.99 is worth it to remove the ads”. Except it doesn’t remove the ads - or not the ones you WANT anyway. You’re still forced to sit through 30+ second ads between attempts despite purchasing “no ads”. I contacted the vendor because I thought something was wrong with the purchase but they confirmed it’s the way it’s supposed to work - forcing you to watch ads even after purchase, but hey the banner ads you never noticed at the bottom is gone now so aren’t you happy? Seriously?? Ludicrous. I hope Apple pulls this app from the store and blocks them from offering in-app purchases because this is just wrong, mis-advertised, and a breach in user trust making in-app purchases.
