Brought to you by Symantec, it’s the security app you need on your iPhone and iPad. Wi-Fi Security - Connecting to public Wi-Fi can be a cost-effective way to save data and bandwidth, but it may come with risks. The Wi-Fi Security feature helps alert you if an unknown party on the same network is spying on your online activity, known as a “man-in-the-middle” attack. With this type of attack, a cybercriminal is able to read, insert and modify communications between two users or systems. App Reviews

  • Disappointed

UPDATE: After a couple of hours, I reactivated the “online” function of the app, and it seems to be humming along with no appreciable delays or issues. I will up my rating from two to three stars now, and report on its long-term performance after about a month. When I attempted to browse the web, it not only froze, there were no alerts or notifications as to the reason. I deactivated the VPN (web browsing), so I could access the internet. Now it tells me I am not being protected when I am on the web. It makes some sense. With the function on I cannot use the internet. No chance of running into a malicious site. If that’s the choice, I’ll take my chances and keep it turned off.
  • Nice idea but

Unusable at this time. Ever since I installed this app, I began to realize my phone would stay on LTE no matter where I was. Usually at home and at work and other places where I have the WiFi key programmed in, my phone should automatically switch to WiFi instead of one bar of lousy cell signal. I’m guessing it’s the aggressive vpn feature of the app which doesn’t seem to turn off ever. I can manually turn on my WiFi and it would work, but then wouldn’t reconnect if I leave the hotspot and come back again. Annoying to have to manually reconnect to a WiFi network your device already has memorized. Anyway, deleted for now, and WiFi immediately fine again. Seems maybe some more work is needed on the app.
  • Norton Mobile security app

I’ve been using Norton products on my PC since the age of DOS and I was excited that a new version for my iPhone was available so I rushed to the App Store and downloaded it. After using it for about a week I was totally unsatisfied with the results. It slowed down my iPhone to a crawling speed. The same apps that used to launch almost instantaneously now with the Norton app installed would take almost two minutes to launch, they claimed that with the Free VPN their app provides would make Safari run a lot faster, I discovered that this wasn’t true. Once I uninstalled Norton my iPhone went back to its normal speed and function. I hope that Symantec will fix this issue soon because, normally, Norton products are great.
  • Easy to use

Great app, if you buy the bundle for VPN and Norton security mobile make sure you install security before VPN. It says that on their website but less people don’t read it. Overall one of the easiest VPNs ever ever used and very effective on mobile devices. Especially with apple opening up a lot of portals and loopholes to accommodate for non-Apple store apps. Probably the biggest mistake ever made. About an iPhone for security not to “F” around with, Not to use it to steal other peoples Wi-Fi connections and hijack their computers just for the fun of it. So many “A” holes like that out there.
  • Working

Well a program that apple has on its app list is flagging me that it is a dangerous site. If the 1010 themes app is dangerous I guess it is doing its job if this is a false positive, someone has some work to do. I am not computer savvy enough to figure it out. If it is a dangerous site going there and asking them is dumb wouldn’t you say!
  • I Don’t Think It’s Working

I have this app downloaded on my phone and the online tab says web protection is enabled, but my safari tabs are continually redirecting to pages that say “Congratulations! You’ve won...” with various prizes such as gift cards, trips, and devices. Like I’m unable to even use safari because I can’t stay on the page I’m on for more than maybe five seconds (no exaggeration) without it redirecting. So much for web protection.
  • One fault

The only problem I have is that every time I go back into a WiFi area like my home or work, it does not automatically reconnect to the WiFi. I have to turn the WiFi off and on twice before it reconnects. That’s a pain, but otherwise it’s nice to have the security on my phone.
  • Erroneous error message

The app keeps telling me that my OS is out of date. As I am running the very latest IPhone update, I find this curious? Otherwise, the app does give me a small sense (wishful thinking) of security. The jury is still out on how good this is, but since I have used NORTON since DOS days, I will rate it high.

This application allows me to reduce my data usage when away from home. Before installing it, I NEVER used public WiFi. Now, I have more options open to me.
