  • Could be great, but...

    By JediKKnight
Overall I have been enjoying the game, but the levels are getting too hard. I know what needs to happen to clear a level, but I don’t get the right pieces to do it. I’m on day five for trying to beat my current level - and it’s getting too frustrating. I playing many of these types of games, and I’ve played them a long time and reached really high levels... but I don’t see getting to do that with the amount of times it takes to beat a level. Using the extra bombs and tools rarely helps the way you need it b3cause you can’t choose when to add it to your game, so it gets wasted. Please give more moves so I can keep playing, or I don’t see me staying much longer. Also, can you give us more choice about where we transform and decorate. I’ve been outside forever, and would really rather be inside. If, as your other reply to reviews is an imperative for your game, that the story line is an equally important part of the game, then I go back to my first request plus one more. Give us more moves and for levels that are supposed to be hard, give us more than one star so we can move on more quickly from the parts we are getting bored with. Or perhaps, let us purchase stars, I’d do that before I buy coins again, as the bombs and such are costly and not as helpful as when you purchase such things in other games. Thanks for reading!
  • Please stop making me play with the cat!

    By writerle
This game was fun at first. The levels were challenging, but not impossible. However, now that I'm up to level 75, the game is getting quite frustrating. Some levels are so difficult that you either have to play for days before you get a passable board or purchase lots of coins in order to buy power ups or extra moves. Then, once you finally do clear a level, you get a pathetic 30-50 coins (meaning you have to pass dozens of levels just to purchase one power up) and 1 star. Worst of all, after decorating the initial rooms, almost all of your tasks involve answering the door or playing with the cat. Seriously, I've wasted 10 coins in a row doing nothing but getting the cat yarn to play with, rescuing it from the suit of armor, buying it shampoo, and giving it a bath. And none of these tasks are optional. I haven't decorated anything in days, which is what I downloaded the game for in the first place! I see lots of complaints about this in the reviews, but judging by the developer's responses, it doesn't seem like they are addressing the problem. I will probably delete the game soon since, frankly, I hate cats and the game is quite simply boring at this point. Add edit: Another issue: I have contacted customer support several times to report an issue, and there is never a response. This game doesn't seem to receive any developer support at all.
  • Great Game!!!

I’m not much into games, but I love this one and I’m very addicted to it! I used to play Gardenscapes which is very similar to this game, but I quickly got tired of not being able to win the matching levels. The games were next to impossible to complete, sometimes took a week to get through just one level and I’d get very frustrated and was always tempted to delete the game. Then the tasks got to be ridiculously redundant, they got to be for very minute details and you’d rarely get the opportunity to landscape the gardens. Isn’t that supposed to be the goal of these types of games? I went on a search for a replacement game and found Matchington Mansion!!! As you go through the levels, they become more of a challenge. Sometimes you can get stuck on a level and it will take a day or so to complete, but they are WIN-ABLE! Some levels are hard, some very hard, but then you also get some relief as a few levels are a bit easier but always a challenge. It’s a perfect combination and I don’t feel frustrated when I’m done playing, and with this game, I always want to come back for more!!! Matchington Mansion is the best of this type of game that’s available to play!!!
  • It is a fun game, but...

Unless you haven’t anything better to do with your time, don’t start this game. Once you get into the higher levels 200 and above it can take days to beat a level or longer. I have spent money on the game, but I’m not spending money on a game when I feel like I am being forced to spend money to pass a level. All levels should be passable, they can be tough, but all should be passable. I have been on the same level for about 2 weeks now. Unable to beat it with unlimited lives for hours. Once, I even had two beach balls to combine twice! Plus a beach ball and explosives two or three additional times and still could not beat the level. This morning I was going to pay for a package and decided no. I will probably just delete the game. I’ll give it another day or two and then completely delete it. I like everything about the game, but that aspect of it, and it is a fun game most of the time. It’s just greed, but I understand if this is the only way to support their families. If you don’t mind playing the same level for weeks, or even months, or even finally giving in an spending cash to beat the level then you’ll love it, if not find a different game.
  • Waaaay too frustrating

    By MumpsProgrammer
Okay, I’m taking away two stars from my previous review. Don’t get me wrong, this is really a good game in a lot of ways. But my revision is because of one thing: the developers don’t know the difference between “challenging” and “frustrating”. I’ve expressed this to them and they excuse it by saying well, when you finally beat a hard level, your pleasure will be that much more. Phooey. If this were a game of skill, that would be true. But in a game that’s probably 90% based on how lucky you are with the way the tiles fall (and you’d be hard-pressed to convince me the way they fall is not mostly controlled by the game), that’s nonsense. In this game the enjoyment is in the advancement—getting to finish one room and unlock the next. If it takes you 100+ lives to get through a level and it takes you a week or more to do it, and meanwhile these side challenges come and go without your being able to take advantage of them because you have to win levels to do so... well, it’s just maddening, not fun. I’ll probably keep playing since I’ve reached level 1300-something, though not with as much dedication or enthusiasm, just to see if they finally get the message. But I’m not holding my breath.

I highly recommend this game for people who love to play matching games and/or design games, and this one is a wonderful combination of both. I do have a few suggestions, but this game is otherwise a great application, as it is fun and entertaining, and yet has limited ads! The two suggestions I have are that the game creators add in more personalization opportunities, like being able to name every character in the game, and making you own furniture for the mansion. The game would be a million times better if it were more interactive, so you could design your character and choose your character’s reactions and actions. The only other thing is I wish you could have a way to speed up the time for more hearts with coins. If you could possibly add any of these ideas, especially the interactive one, it would be greatly appreciated. The game is addictive and awesome, I love it so much so thank you to the creators of the game. This review probably won’t be read, but if it is, thank you for this game and please please PLEASE at least consider these ideas, it took me forever to write this review.
  • Great game but...

    By Maylynn13!
I loved this game from the moment I started. Beautiful design, great balance between decorating, hidden secrets, and matching levels. The characters are fun to get to know. I also love the feature of visiting other players. For anyone complaining about the lack of options, go visit other houses and pick up additional choices. It costs a few coins to swap out, but not many and it’s worth the fun and variety. However, I echo the sentiments about the level difficulty and being ‘stuck outside’. I am on level 316, and have only paid for coins once, so it can be done. But it is frustrating to get stuck on seemingly unsolvable levels. Most of them just need a few more moves to complete. It’s nice though that there are plenty of challenges for extra power ups. And the developers give away infinite lives for an hour or so all the time. I would like to eventually get back inside the house though. There are tons of rooms to do and I’ve been outside in the garden for literally hundreds of levels. PLEASE let me get to those rooms. If I wanted a garden I would play Gardenscapes.
  • Good concept. Too hard to move forward.

    By Pidd62
I don’t mind games that get a little tougher with each new level, but some of the levels here take a lot of tries before they can be successfully completed...and I’ve only reached the second room of the mansion so far! There’s 15 minutes before you can earn a new “life” so i have to leave the game while they replenish, only to quickly lose them again. It just feels like I’m spending a lot of time playing the challenges and no time decorating the mansion. Understandably, this is all designed to get the player to spend real money, which I already did, but boosts and life chances cost so many coins, it runs out very quickly. It’s just not worth it. I’ll probably delete the game and look for something else. Pity because the concept is simple enough for passing the time, the graphics are decent and the challenges really are fun, but the ratio of challenge to payoff is lopsided. Oh, and the variety of decorations for the house could be a little better. Only 3 of each item to choose from. Visiting other players’ houses, they all looking pretty much the same.
  • Really Want To Love This Game- But....

    By Chickk let's
I really want to love this game- I am an old candy crush fan and I understand level difficulty- But this game is set up much morefor frustration- than for decoration. The levels become increasingly impossible- in that the drop rate of common tiles- stops. there is very often- only one match that can be made- breaking any strategy ideas by making them impossible. The devs sprinkle some levels that solve themselves- but from -say level 50 and up- the demand for purchased cheats increases exponentially. In Candy crush- (Which was also designed to frustrate) you could go back and replay level to get more stars to spend, to help you along- But Not here- every level hints at that wall- and at level 65 The game has STOPPED. I have calculated the drop frequency of color relations- and it is not my skill that is lacking- rather- it seems to be because I have some cheats left to spend- So This game isn't chance Or Skill- but a calculated frustration- that may-or may not leae you hanging. The game wiggles hints that are against helpfulness- and it says terrific and fabulous- when the move was completely non productive towards the goal- It becomes a Taunt- or a false positive. Which is not entertaining- at all.
  • The game needs work

    By CaitlandJean
So here is the deal. I love this game but I do feel there is some things that should be worked out. I get that with any game each level gets harder and that is fine. However when each level is getting harder as well as requiring more and more stars to complete a task. You wonder why everyone quits playing and never makes it past the library. Some of these levels take me 5+ tries or I just need one more move which I have to pay 500 coins for but there is very little opportunity to earn coins in the game. Only twice in 127 levels have I ever gotten 50 coins when finishing a level. It is usually around 20 or less. So the fact that every thing requires large amounts of coins is ridiculous. Most games like this give you a time limit not a limit on moves which you usually need literally one more. So makes me feel that the company is just out to get your money because you are basically forced to buy coins to play the game. I like to concept of the game but if I find one with a better operating system I would much rather play that.
