App Reviews

  • Great; Add Manual Control for “Focus on Voice”

I am bewildered by the contrasting reviews here, but for my experience with my new WH-1000XM3’s this app just works well! Never had any issue with it whatsoever. I do have some extra wishes for the app such as: (a) being able to increase the ambient volume microphone pickup even further; or (b) manually controlling some other stuff. For (a), it’s for me to be able to increase the pickup volume for the “Focus on Voice” option on the “Ambient Sound Control” part. I could hear voices with it but I’d like to be able to increase the voice volume even further. But with that said, great work with the app!

I was hoping this new version of the app would address the Bluetooth connection problems, it does not. Sony needs to hire a programmer that can fix this app so it will work properly. If you do get the app to connect to your headphones once you turn off your Bluetooth and close the app you’re screwed, it will not connect again. I have to uninstall the app, reboot the phone, reinstall the app, then go through the complete setup again in order to reconnect. What a pain in the “ “.... same as the last version of the app. I have the WH-1000XM2 headphones and an iPhone 8 plus. I wish I would have known about the app problem before I purchased the headphones 2 months ago, I would have passed on the Sony headphones and gone with something different. App control was part of why I purchased these headphones. WAKE UP SONY!

People don’t seem to understand the problems they seem to be having with this app. I’ve had some problems that make it frustrating, but keep on figuring it out. For example, my headphones will be on, the app is up and my headphones won’t connect, turn your headphones off and on. With having too many devices being connected, just be sure to have the blue tooth turned on on one device, simple fix. Other than that, i’ve not had a whole lot of problems with this app. The adaptive sound thing is REALLY annoying so I just leave it off, cause I thought it was the battery. Although one time with my headphones (WH-1000XM2) I have noticed when I have connected my headphones to my phone or iPad as soon as it says it’s connected, my headphones mysteriously silently turn off. I haven’t had this issue for awhile. Im not sure why it happens...

Sony your app is amazing ! Just do this, down load the app and keep it open, then When your turning on the Sony headphones.. hold down the button and don’t let go until it flashes Red (it takes one press on the button)❣️then let go of the button once you see It flashing ❣️ then press next on the app to see your Sony headphones appear then select. Now You’re are connected to a new level of Amplified Super sound of Sony Entertainment! .. you gonna love the app! 😉👌🏼

I am having none of the problems other reviews mention. I have model WH-CH700N headphones. They work fine and the app works every time. No connection problems. You need this app to control all of the settings. BTW, These are excellent headphones. Great sound. I bought them as refurbs on eBay for $80. Battery lasts a long time. I have had them for a week and use them every day, have not re-charged them yet.

I am only making this a 3 star because of the fact the app is so hit or miss when it comes to linking to my headphones. I can go multiple days without being able to utilize the app and headphones together because it won’t pair. This extremely frustrating not being able to take advantage of its capabilities while commuting through town on buses or walking and even at work. I would love to see an update that fixed this issue ASAP so I can get the full enjoyment out of the device and it’s features it advertises.

I bought Sony Bluetooth noise cancelling headphones and had to download the app to be able to connect my iPad to the headphones. Assuming that you are connected to the internet, everything seems to work fine. The problem is that I only use the app when I take a flight and watch movies. If you update the app and then open the app later when you aren’t connected to the internet, you won’t be able to use the app. Before you can use the app after you update, you must agree to the terms and conditions and it sends data back to Sony. Why can’t the app allow me to agree to the terms and conditions and then send that data back to Sony later and actually allow me to use the app? I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this with any other app. While I slightly prefer the Sony headphones to the Bose, the Sony app sours the experience. If I had to do it all over again, I’d buy Bose.
  • App not working

So I bought my headphones a few days ago and downloaded the app and it worked fine, but when I tried to use the app the next day it keeps saying that i need to connect to Bluetooth even though my headphones were connected. I called customer service and they said that there were no reports on this issue! But when i read all the reviews here it seems like this issue was on going for a while now and didn’t bother to fix! What’s the point of creating an app with features that I can’t even use!!!!! I’m returning the headphones and getting a different brand instead!
  • Wonderful headphones. Garbage software.

How a major company like Sony allows an app of this quality to bear its name is beyond me - the software is, simply put, garbage. Good luck getting the firmware updates to successfully transfer to your headphones - no amount of restarting or following the troubleshooting guide will help. I’ve wasted an hour of my day trying to get the update to work. And this isn’t due to a lack of technical knowledge - it’s because this app is super buggy. TLDR: The headphones themselves are fantastic, but I’d be embarrassed if I had anything to do with creating this pathetic app.
  • Worked initially. Not no mo tho *update*

It worked when I first got this app and helped a lot. Now it’s just garbage and won’t even recognize that it’s connected to my $350 headphones. Like, what? Turns out it’s working, it just for whatever reason deleted my headphones since the last time I opened it. Then I had to add a new headphone because adding a connected headphone wouldn’t work. Please fix that. I had to delete it from my Bluetooth and add it again through adding a new headphone.
