App Reviews

  • Loving it!

    By Yayafdez09
Got to love this app. No matter how much we love shopping at Sam's club we have to admit a lot of people do so there’s always big lines, even if most of them or all cashiers are open. But having this app where as soon as you get something you scan it and it’s on your shopping card it’s great! You got something but you don’t want to take it anymore, easy to delete. Maybe you got one product but decide to take two of those, don’t have to scan again, easy to change the amount. BUT if you trying to buy alcohol, or tabaco, it won’t let you with the app. Another thing if you going to use the app make sure your phone it’s charge, once I went my phone was about to die on me but I thought I was going to make it and I screenshot the receipt but it wasn’t getting, I guess it will only get from the app in case it’s not the person of the membership so I had to prove to them with my membership and credit card that it was me using the app.

I’ve used this app since last December. It’s great to “walk out without paying” 😊. Speeds things up considerably. And having the receipts readily available is very handy. I have had only one issue with using it and it isn’t a software issue, it is a policy issue. In purchasing an item on which an “extended warranty” was available, for some reason, they won’t let you checkout on the app with that. But they don’t tell you that. It just says you must proceed to a cashier. They will let you go through the self checkout with those items. A pop up comes up and offered the extended warranty. That option should be on this app as well. I agree with another reviewer that integrating the wish list with this app would be extremely helpful. And I also wish they gave you the location of the item within the store. I know stores like for shoppers to have to wander about looking for something because you do more impulse buying, but it’s frustrating to try to find things that the Sam’s app says in stock when they aren’t where you expect. I’d also like to have a list of items I’ve purchased in the past available so I can quickly review to see if I need any of them and also have the location. All in all, I like this app very much. I have used the self checkout for several years but this is even better.
  • Double Charged

    By Nly8901
Loved the app and the prospect of not having to wait in line. (Which I am sure many of you know can be a LONG wait.) Unfortunately, after attempting to pay I received a pop up telling me to use a register with no explanation for why. I proceeded with my check out at the register and paid. Now today I check my credit card account and I was charged twice! The app charged my card even though the transaction appeared to have not gone through on my end. There is no record of the app transaction in the store's system and no receipt in the app to use to track the money! So they got my money but can't track how or where it went or do anything about it. After a couple of hours on the phone the only resolution I have is to wait until my statement comes (another 3 weeks), drive the hour back to Sam's Club, show them the statement and then I will be refunded. So now it will cost me a few more hours of my time and more gas money just to get money back that shouldn't have been taken to begin with. Seriously disappointed with this app. It had to much potential.
  • Worked great in beta *****

    By !!-!!Newbie $$
I loved this app, skipping long lines and getting a running total while verifying prices in real time is amazing. I used it 5 times in beta and it worked great. I just used it today and it removed all the items in my cart twice without warning. It happened as I was about to checkout. I scanned them over again but by the time I scanned my last item it cleared again. Very frustrating. Beta was 5 stars, this June ‘18 version is one for me. I have an iPhone 6s and other reviews appear to work fine so don’t let this review keep you from trying it out for yourself. -----SEP 23, 2018 iOS 12 UPDATE---- I deleted and reinstalled the app with the iOS 12 update and it works again! Scanning items is blazing fast and I no longer have to empty my physical cart. Thank You for fixing the crash bug. Returning review to 5 stars.
  • Great Idea; Very Glitchy

    By LadyAmherst
I really like the idea of being able to scan my purchases in order to avoid long checkout lines, and not having to unload my cart items onto the conveyor belt. However, this app is glitchy. Sometimes I can’t log in nor access WiFi at my store (could be local internet issue). Generally, it will snap pictures fairly fast, but there are times I have to really work hard. I like that I don’t have to push a camera button to take a picture of the barcodes; it’s automatic. I’ve had the app crash midway through shopping, having to start again from scratch. I’ve frequently had issues when I’m trying to complete my payment process. It may or may not follow through, and I have to stop at the service center to see if the payment was actually completed. Again, there could be WiFi issues in the store with this. The app could use some overall streamlining to make it more efficient.
  • 2 more features needed to make ideal

    By Husband with frustrated wife
Great app for a husband that has to call wife multiple times to make sure he gets the "right" products. 2 further improvements would make this app ideal: 1. Integrate shopping list from sams user website in this app so wishlist type items are shown. Right now you have to bounce back and forth between safari and the app to view what the wife needs!! 2. Once shopping list is integrated, have aisle location for products so that you can actually find what you're looking for. This past weekend was trying to find one of the products and three different Sam's Club employees cannot find the product and I almost left the store before realizing it was on an end cap. I am sure other people have experienced this and Sam's Club is missing out on revenue simply because people cannot find products. Again, this is a great app but could be made a deal with these two improvements. Thanks
  • This software is amazing, but problems on the back end (leaving store)

    By Texaggi
I’ve used this three times at two stores, the software works amazingly well. The problem I’ve had all three times is it takes me longer to leave the store than if I just paid at the self check register and had a paper receipt in hand. One time the person had to boot up their handheld scanner to verify me, meanwhile paper copy folks walked by with just a quick glance by the staff. The next time their scanner wouldn’t sync up with the computer, so I stood line a fool for 5 minutes waiting to leave the store while they brought out a manager who had a similar problem, while multiple paper receipt holders left the store with ease. Then yesterday the same thing, except the person was so focused on the pictures on their screen they were individually verifying each item one by one by one in my cart, rather than just counting them and scanning me to get me on my way. I’d noticed them only give a quick glance and count on the person before me. Something needs to be done at the staff level or need to come up with a different method. Like walking past video cameras verifying what’s in the cart... or a kiosk that gives you a receipt so you have a paper copy... I don’t really know. It’s s good concept and the app is solid. I’m an early adopter if things like this but I’m about done already with this. I’m going back to the self check lines.
  • Really handy when it works

    By jdb1042
Second review Decided to delete because it’s frustrating when it doesn’t work. Performance is sporadic. Today it was working right up until I was ready for checkout. The app crashed and I lost all the items I’d scanned. When I went back into the app all the items were gone. Gave up and stood in line to checkout. Works less than 50% of the time. I’m done with this app. Too frustrating to mess with. I like the app a lot, but it only works about every other time. It worked last week, not this week. That's about how it goes. It worked twice in a row and I thought it was fixed. I thought going further into the store before accessing the app was working. That wasn't it. When it doesn't work, it says it can't find the server with my info. I can sign in successfully but when I scan, it can't find the server. When it's working, I don't have to sign in. If I didn't like it so well when it works, I'd just delete it. When it works, it's great.
  • Sam's has really upped their game with this app!

    By Cartoonkid07
UPDATE: Still loving the simplicity of this app and how much time it saves me getting through the store. Just one wish...please, PLEASE add the ability to have receipts automatically emailed to a given address. This should be a very simple option to add. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Went to my local Sam's today (Saturday), and as expected, the lines were all long. Every cashier was open as well as the self-checkout lanes. It would've been a minimum 20 minute wait. Even with the poor AT&T cell service and dismal wifi service in the store, within two minutes, I had downloaded the app, entered my credit card number, scanned my stuff and was out the door. This is truly a game-changing app! For those of you who are looking for Apple Pay support, let me save you the trouble of writing a negative review. It ain't gonna happen, and no amount of ranting about it will help. Walmart spent tons of money developing their own NFC payment system and has shunned Apple Pay from the get-go, so there is no way they're going to add it to their app. Ever. So just enjoy the simplicity of the app, not to mention the 20+ minutes of your life you will get back on every trip to Sam's. :-)
